DH just called and said he just bought a medium size freeze dryer OH MY STARS! I’m excited! I’ve wanted one for over a decade but the cost was too high. Then as prices came down I still wanted one but questioned how much use it would get. DH has sort of been interested too but I sure wasn’t expecting when I got up this morning that I’d be getting one.

For those that have/used them, I’d love any tips for using it.

We have one. Biggest problem we’ve had so far is the door doesn’t seal very well so you have to futz with it to get it to reach proper vacuum. It works, it’s just not as easy as it should be.

Congratulations!

The only time we ever had a problem with the door sealing was when my daughter did it and she had the pillow stuck between the seal and the door.

We had the pump (the old standard pump) go bad after 6-9 months. After dealing with their tech support and running several tests, they replaced the pump. We also had some problem with the electronics--circuit board maybe?--about a year ago. DH dealt with it so I don't remember well. But again, the tech support people were very helpful. I'm so very glad we have it. And for what it's worth, I have the large and wish I'd gotten the medium. Have fun with it!

We got our large last year.
Biggest problem?
Having room in our freezer to prefrezee everything.

The electric bill was higher than expected

We needed to add an portable Ac unit to the pantry room for summer months.

If you Facebook get Retired at 40 face book page. You can research by ingredient or problem.

Have fun!
