Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race 2012

The 40th Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race came to an end earlier this week in Nome, Alaska. Dallas Seavey, 25, bested both his father and his grandfather with his team of nine dogs, becoming the youngest musher ever to win the nearly 1,000-mile race across the Alaskan wilderness. His winnings included $50,000 and a new truck. Gathered here are images from the Iditarod and other events from around the globe.(29 photos total)

Actually the Iditarod ended 3/19/12 at 02:57:03 when Jan Stevens crossed the finish line in Nome as the last Musher on the trail; Crossing the finish line, Jan blew out the flame of the Widow's Lantern and won the Red Lantern Award.

As usual, the MSM does not get anything right. ALL mushers who make it to the finish line have won. Dallas just finished in first place. Sixty-Six Mushers with their teams making up more than 1000 dogs left the start line on Willow Lake Sunday March 4th and 53 Mushers Finished the nearly 1000 mile treck to Nome.

Once again, the race was completed without serious injury to dogs or humans
