Indian Squaw Bread

Fried Squaw (Fry) Bread

3 c. flour
½ teasp. Salt
1 Tab. Baking powder
1Tab. Sugar
1 Tab melted butter
1 c. warm water

Shortening for deep fryer or skillet. Mix flour, salt, baking powder, sugar in a large bowl & add melted butter & water. Mix & stir well. Cover bowl and let stand about 15 minutes. Pull off large egg-sized balls of dough and roll out into fairly thin rounds. Will be thick & sticky. Drop by tablespoons in hot shortening & cook for 2 to 4 min or golden brown. Drain on paper towel.

I haven't made these in probably 13 years. The recipe I had I think had beer in it. What do you use to fill with?

You can fill these with Honey, or whipped cream & honey cinnamon sugar, or for a dinner, chilli, & cheese. whatever u want.
