China has "quarantined" three cities .... one with a pop of around 11 million, one with around 7.5 million, and one with a pop of almost 1 million. The largest city in the US is New York with a pop of 8.3 million. In effect they are trying to quarantine two New York cities.

3 people who've recently travelled from Wuhan to Scotland are being treated as suspected cases of Coronavirus. The head of infection medicine at the University of Edinburgh, Professor Jurgen Haas, said all 3 had respiratory symptoms and had been in Wuhan in the last 14 days.

I have a stock of masks, but my grandson has asthma but he likes to ride the big mower, ( what he likes to do. is chase the ground squirrels around) so I thought I would buy my yearly supply now, amazon is out of quite a few, the big lots were out, but bought 5 - 20packs, if you need them, get them now

Still have mine from the last Ebola scare.

Just thinking out loud ... wrapping my head around this .... but looking at the internet I found this:

CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 6.4 million flu illnesses, 55,000 hospitalizations and 2,900 deaths from flu," the CDC said. That’s almost 2 million more illnesses and 800 more deaths than reported in last week's update.
Soource:CDC: Flu activity high across much of US

Compare that to the reported numbers we've seen so far for this virus .... AND ... think about what China is doing in cutting off over 19 million people and cancelling their biggest holiday.

They're spooked about something way deeper than what the official numbers show.

Chinese Captain Trips?

I tried searching and might have failed, but this laboratory in Wuhan seems relevant to this discussion...

Abstract
Experienced, qualified personnel certified to work in high-level biocontainment laboratories contribute to the safe operation of these facilities. China began a training program for laboratory users after establishing its first Biosafety Level 4 laboratory, the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory (Level 4) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. We provide an overview of the content of this training program, which can serve as a reference for developing national norms for high-containment laboratory training.

The Chinese infection numbers are so much "Hokum" just look at the statistical chance that 4000 infected people happened to have infected three travelers to Scotland. Zero Chance there may be 100,000 thousands of infections by now to translate to 3 upper class Chinese travelers arriving in Scotland at the same time. Unless it was a coordinated Biologic attack.

Yes, when you consider the cases in Scotland, all 3 had respiratory symptoms and had been in Wuhan in the last 14 days! 14 days ago! This has gone world wide

It sure seems like this one wants to go pandemic. I lost an uncle to the 1918 flu, and heard the family stories over the years. Not something any of us wants to go through, and the world is a much different place now.

Airlines need to immediately increase the percentage of fresh air in cabins. Costly yes, but make a difference. Watch FAA for updates on this soon.

yes, I believe so. One thing to remember always. The Chinese Lie. They will lie before they will tell the truth as a matter of course. There is no shame in lying, only in getting caught.

This is always something to keep in mind, especially during a situation like this, the Chinese government lies about everything.

Yes, we lost 2 in one night, a baby and a 2 year old, a heart breaker

If this virus becomes a pandemic, and more and more cases begin to pop up in my area, we will self quarantine as much as possible. I know that it may not be possible to do that for long periods of time, though. So, what type of masks do I need to get? Are those masks that are passed out in doctor's offices during flu season good enough? At the Sam's Club near me, I can buy them buy the case. Good idea or no?

A relative lost all three of their children in 24 hours and my Great-Aunt (the "maiden" doctor) lost her fiance and nine months later her sister adopted a baby boy.

When she was dying my great-aunt had a "real" baby in the bed (she thought she did, the baby was invisible) and she kept repeating about my Uncle "I've got to tell Jimmy he's my boy, he's my boy..."

My uncle was a toddler then, too. So very sorry for all of us who have lost family to the previous pandemic, and prayers we don't go through this again. But, I don't have a good feeling about this one, it's just spreading too fast.

You people do know that coronavirus is just the common cold. Has always been dangerous to the week and infirm. It's the cold you get every year after you visit your school aged grandkids. So keep washing your hands and keep them out of you mouth, nose and eyes.

Wuhan suspends all car-hailing services. Taxis OK but limited by odd/even plate number each day. So: -no public bus, ferry, subway -no outbound train, flight -no inter-province/city bus, ferry -no chartered car, boat -only way out by own car or taxi but health checks on highways
