As team after team announced they would refuse to play games in protest of Jacob Blake’s shooting, the New York Mets and Miami Marlins still decided to take the field on Thursday.
And then they walked off.

After rumblings of a potential player protest, the Mets took their places on the field as scheduled. However, starting pitcher Michael Wacha did not throw a warm-up pitch, and the teams did not exchange lineup cards.
Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson stepped into the box and both teams seemed in position to start playing, but only 42 seconds of silence, likely in honor of Jackie Robinson, followed. Both teams then exited the field, with Brinson leaving a “Black Lives Matter” shirt at home plate.

The protest had been preceded by Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen getting caught on a hot mic discussing a brewing protest among players, along with some criticism of MLB commissioner Rob Manfred.

Another day of protests for MLB
MLB saw its first wave of protests on Wednesday when the Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Marines, San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants opted to not play, following a trend sparked by the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks in protest of Blake’s shooting.
That continued into Thursday, with games featuring 14 other teams having to be postponed due to player protests, including the Mets and Marlins.
After playing Wednesday, Mets slugger Dominic Smith delivered the league’s most emotional response. Through tears, Smith lamented the treatment of Black men in America:
“I think the most difficult part is to see people still don’t care. For this to just continuously happen, it just shows the hate in people’s heart. That just sucks, you know? Black men in America, it’s not easy. Like I said, I just wasn’t there today, but I’ll bounce back, I’ll be fine.”
As the Mets walked off Thursday, Smith was seen with his arm around his teammates.
New York Mets third baseman J.D. Davis, left fielder Dominic Smith (2), center fielder Billy Hamilton (21), and right fielder Michael Conforto (30) walk off the field with teammates and the Miami Marlins before a baseball game Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, in New York. Good! Let 'em all walk off the field - and go bankrupt. These professional athlete idiots - did you hear me? I said IDIOTS - don't realize that they possess a very perishable skill. This is true in all of the big sports, baseball, football and basketball.

Why perishable?

1.) First, they only have a limited number of prime playing years in their youth, after which they're washed up and have to go into retirement. Wanna be an old man playing professional sports? Take up golf.

2.) Their fantastic salaries rely entirely on fan goodwill and loyalty. Lose that and you'll be lucky to find a miserly wage in the minor leagues or Burger King. Maybe they could write a book, but a lot of these guys are functionally illiterate.

3.) Racial alienation is a huge factor in the waning professional sports arena. When large numbers of Black athletes intentionally insult and condemn their largely White fan base, the results are, er, predictable. Fans - of any race - don't like being told to eat sh*t and like it. They won't respond by rioting or tearing down sports arenas. They'll withhold support from the teams.

Hey! Idiot players! Yes, you over there in the BLM shirt. The withholding of support means the withholding of Dollars. Get it? Your gravy train is ending. When your athletic skills are no longer marketable, what's your fallback plan? You have a degree in dentistry or accounting, right?

IMHO the demise of American professional sports is a good thing. For too long Americans have idolized barely literate overgrown children who have a talent for playing ball. Otherwise sane people actually have fights over 'watching the game' and the sports obsession often breaks friendships and causes strife within families. Over what? Watching athletes handle a ball on the screen? Sheesh...

I say it's high time Americans did away with their professional sports obsession. It's well past high time!

It is not true that people don't care

I hate major league sports more than ever

I am getting more and more racist with each unconscionable act these people perform.

I do not think that was what they were going for but there it is.

These idiot players have bought into the notion of systemic racism and that the cops are targeting black men for execution. I think most of those black players really buy into that. All they know is what the media and apologists tell them.

But if they were capable of independent thought it might occur to them to say to themselves, ‘I’m a black man and came from a single parent home, I am not really that smart and didn’t do well in school but I got a full scholarship and preferential treatment. I’m good at ball and had a lot of teams owned by white men throwing money at me to play for them. I make more money than doctors, lawyers and even the President of the United States.’

If they would stop and think they would realize that only in this country can an impoverished black boy work hard at the one thing he can do and be rewarded far beyond what most of us can imagine. And then maybe he would consider that virtually none of the shootings would happen if the people involved would stop doing stupid things like fighting the police and resisting arrest.

These dummies are being used as tools and pawns to destroy not only their livelihood but this country for a false narrative.

Did any fans get to pay for the privilege to watch them walk off the field after several minutes? Or were these so called professionals playing to an empty stadium? And...does anyone care anymore?
Don't forget the advertisers. They pay the broadcast stations. No game, no advertising revenue. No game, broadcasters don't pay the teams. I'm sure it's in the contract between them. The teams themselves only have so much in reserve.

If you are a Christian, and can’t hear #BlackLivesMatter without feeling the need to respond with a criticism that “All Live Matter,” then crack open your Bible and hit up Luke 15.

Don’t have it handy? Let me summarize.

There are 100 sheep, but one goes missing.
Jesus leaves the 99 and goes after the one.

The 99: “But… what about us? Don’t we matter?”

Of course the 99 still matter, but they’re not the ones in danger.

The one is.

I’ll say it again, #BlackLivesMatter.

Hit ‘em in the wallet. Make them have to repay all of the costs, direct and indirect, of their so-called protest. Once the idiots figure out where the money really comes from maybe they’ll grow up and wise up. It is what needs to happen to all protesters. You want to make a statement? Fine. You don’t get to do it on someone else’s dime.

This is a statistical lie. Straight out of hell.

Blacks are threatened and killed more by other non-police blacks than anything else.

Whites are more statistically prone to be shot by cops than blacks by a large margin. BLM is a Big League of Marxists and is a terrorist organization.

I don't support communists I oppose them.

You forgot the rest of the story,

Jesus reaches the sheep, which proceeds to shit all over his robes, bites his hands and feet and face, and bleats in his ear as he tries to take the creature back to the flock.

Jesus says "Oh, it's the possessed pig thing again. Where's a cliff?"

Have you ever visited blacklivesmatter.com Maybe no one wants to support the non-Godly, socialist agenda of this group, it is a political organization. Criticizing it does not mean we don't have black friends or support them. We simply put down the evil, socialist nature of the organization.

By the way there is always a verse to throw at someone, but remember the sheep in your example are the children of Christ, he is not herding the sinners that refuse to acknowledge him... It wasn't a flock of sheep that were beating people in the street, burning businesses and trying to overthrow a government.

I'll say what Christ says, All lives matter to the Father (The Jew first and then the Gentile)

This is how the bible is so often misused... This is the same example running around Facebook that heathens are using and putting in memes... However is is just another case of using the bible to try and shame someone, which is far from the spirit of Christ.

Second, of course all of the sheep are in danger, if they weren't they wouldn't have a Shepard and they would be free ranging all alone. Also when the sheep is returned to the flock it does not become more important than the others, there are no signs reading this sheep matters... It is returned to the flock. The flock is a collective not a divided group of individuals that think one group is more important than the others. Imagine what this story would read like in the bible if the sheep started forming groups and claiming one group was the most important... What do you think Jesus would have said to that?

Took me a minute but I think I spotted the fail in your logic.

JESUS left to get the sheep. The sheep, meanwhile, went nowhere.

For the sheep, ALL lives matter. Not just the one that left the flock.

I am very much a Christian, and instead of lecturing us on what it says maybe you should read more of it yourself.

And an emphatic NO the one is NOT BLM a marxist organization. It is the one, an individual, that is lost, of any color.

I can get a tad snarky and say the one sheep that was lost was white, how about that?

And just so YOU get it straight. I've got black friends, and they have been to, and into my house and I in theirs's. We've eaten together, prayed together, and studied the Bible together. How about YOU.

It is always noble trying to convince others that their logic may not be sound, but if one's logic remains incoherent in light of all that has occurred during 2020, then you'all are... :dhr:
