My new glass project

I was offered a chance to do a memorial stained glass window for 2 ladies from a local church. It will be 4 ft long and 1 ft high. There will be 3 ovals set into the back color. I have been working to come up with patterns that everyone will like. The colors are representative of the way I want to go. I have to have a Dove, Cross, and Shell that they picked out. I need feedback on what I have chosen to do with these symbols........this is my first big paid project and I want to do well, obviously!

Please let me know what you all think!

Thanks!
Magnetic

I really like the first two. Not too crazy about the shell but if that is what they chose I don't know what else you could do with it. It seems out of place with the other two symbols. I wonder why they chose it.

Very beautiful. My dad did stained glass up until his death. I now am the proud owner of mucho stained glass. I will also work on glass when I retire. Can't wait!

I don't like it much, either. But it represents baptism so they want it. I am hoping to find a brown, burgandy, purplish white glass for it. And maybe I can stretch it longer and knock a couple of the side lines off.......wish I could find a different symbol for baptism!

Saved, to glorify God.
I am used to seeing a dove diving or descending as a Christian religious symbol. ie The Holy Spirit DESCENDING upon Jesus as referenced in several of the Gospels.

I have never seen a dove displayed otherwise unless it is a non-biblical usage and reference to a "peace symbol" instead of the Holy Spirit.

I have never seen baptism symbolized by a shell but maybe it is the color that is turning me off and different colors would make it more appealing. At any rate I wish you great success. I wish I had that talent. Do you have other projects that you are selling? I love stained glass.

I think it's BEAUTIFUL....but my artsy-fartsy bride says I gots all MY taste in my mouth.

So I asked HER....

SHE thinks it's beautiful too.

Maybe some of her taste is rubbing off?

ROFLOL.

No. seriously, it's VERY good. The tears work on a number of levels. I WOULD however make sure that the ladies were not thinking of a more classic Christian dove -- head down with the Grace of Christ shining downward. I PERSONALLY like the upward orientation of the dove you have, but, it IS THEIR MONEY.....
the Cross should be relatively easy to construct, and will get the message across.
ALSO I like your spacing and proportions...(Yah some of her taste IS rubbing off... I guess ;) )

I think you've got a great start Magnetic! I would like to see you continue with the lines you have already started on each picture. The lines coming out from the dove, and smaller crosses surrounding the large cross and small tear drops everywhere around the shell. Did you ever see the picture of the kind of paisley type design that no matter how intricate or expanded it got, it was the same pattern over and over that created the beautiful Big Picture? I'll see if I can find that when I get more time for you if you'd like.

I can see it in my mind's eye when I look at yours.

May I suggest you do as many colors as feasably possible because from experience, I was given a beautiful stained glass to hang in my window and I absolutely love it but... it goes with nothing in my home. It's mainly blue and my whole house is greens and clay colors with bits of burgandy and soft rust colors. Blue does not compute. lol I'll post a picture of it for ya. I will not part with it however. ;)

Vicki-You've got it upside down.

Very nice! The only change I personally would make would be to lower/widen the bottom of the lefthand golden ray on the dove to balance it with the right hand ray, like equal parts of the Trinity.

Wow, those are going to look great! I hope you post some shots of your finished pieces and congrats on the paying job!

I've done some glass, loved it, wish I could get back into it again.

update on the panel

Oh boy, it's a blooming miracle! It's done to their specs and they love it and it is safely hung in the church. I did gently slide in some different colors on them and they were thrilled with the results. Only had a regular camera and no back lighting to really show the glass colors. Glass really needs to be "staged" to get a good picture!
But, it's what they wanted and it fit perfectly. Thank you GOD!

And now I have 6 weeks to get a bunch of stuff done for a craft show.

At least I am not bored, right?

Wow, that looks great! It's really nice with all three in one frame, for some reason I thought you were doing them individually, glad you didn't, it looks so much better as it is. Well done!
