Farm Nekked Sheeps

Yesterday was the day to make nekked sheeps! We had a very busy shearing day with two shearers and myself and two other helpers. I'm pretty sore today for sure, and I did biff it pretty hard on my knees and face. The sheep did great, minimal cuts on them since the shearers took their time and did a great job for me. I have another batch of beautiful fleeces!

I truly appreciate the skill it takes to make nekked sheep. My hair sheep are starting to shed down low on their sides. The birds make wonderful hair and wool nests for miles around.

Done a few myself, done a horrible job, traumatic and painful for both the sheep and me!

Beautiful sheep! I used to want sheep so bad in my 20’s and 30’s but DH didn’t since they‘re not raised around here and we really didn’t know much about them. We stuck to a farrow to finish hog operation and got back into beef cattle, but I still think I’d love them.

Hair sheep are raised for meat, easy keepers, I'm waiting for babies, but don't think they've bred yet. I have 2 ewes and 1 ram.
