EBOLA NEW POLL SHOWS SHEEPLE STIRRING. 25% View Ebola as "Serious Threat."

The sheeple are starting to notice Ebola. This explains the CDC information blackout on the Duncan family. Posted under Fair Use Doctrine.

Poll shows growing fear of Ebola in U.S.

One-quarter of Americans now view Ebola as a major public health threat to the United States and say they may change their travel plans due to Ebola fears, a new Harris Poll/HealthDay survey reveals.

The online poll of more than 2,000 adults, taken between Oct. 2 and 6, finds the number of people seriously concerned about Ebola surging in recent weeks.

The number of people who consider Ebola a "major threat" to the United States jumped from 13 percent in mid-September -- before the nation's first diagnosed case of Ebola appeared in Dallas on Sept. 28 -- to 27 percent during polling earlier this week.

The Dallas patient, Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian national, died Wednesday from the disease.

How concerned are Americans about Ebola outbreak?

The public's rising concern over Ebola is understandable, said Mayo Clinic infectious diseases physician and researcher Dr. Pritish Tosh.

"Ebola is an agent that evokes a lot of fear, and can result in societal disruption," Tosh said. "There's a reason why it's considered a possible bioterrorism agent. So any time you have any cases in the United States, there is a heightened amount of anxiety."

But he added that much of the fear is unwarranted, given that Ebola does not spread easily and the United States has advanced health care and public health systems in place to deal with potential outbreaks.

Is Ebola outbreak the "world's next AIDS" pandemic?

Still, the Ebola crisis in Africa prompted the director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Tom Frieden, to state Thursday: "In my 30 years in public health, the only thing that has been like this is AIDS. We have to work now so that this is not the world's next AIDS."

In the poll, about one out of four people who had holiday or business travel plans said they now plan to cancel or cut back on that travel, due to concerns about Ebola.

Tosh said he traveled by air himself without concern on Tuesday, flying from Minnesota to Philadelphia so he could attend an infectious diseases conference.

"Ebola shouldn't be the reason people aren't seeing their family for Thanksgiving," he said.

Overall, the survey found that 55 percent of people now view Ebola as some level of public health threat to the United States, up 15 percentage points from the mid-September survey. That's more than are worried about widespread illnesses such as hepatitis C (49 percent) or West Nile virus (45 percent).

Poll respondents also came out strongly in favor of increased screening of new arrivals to America from the West African nations of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, the main countries affected by the Ebola outbreak.

Nine out of 10 people said they agree with screening of people entering the country from those nations, and two-thirds said they agree strongly.

Five U.S. airports begin screening for Ebola among travelers from West Africa

On Wednesday, U.S. authorities announced that five major international airports -- JFK International Airport in New York City, Washington Dulles International, O'Hare International in Chicago, Hartsfield-Jackson International in Atlanta and Newark Liberty International in New Jersey -- would begin Ebola screening for passengers arriving from the three affected West African nations.

"As the Ebola epidemic in West Africa continues to grow very rapidly, and the first American Ebola victims are being treated in this country, there is overwhelming support for strict screening of all new arrivals from the countries affected," said Humphrey Taylor, chairman of The Harris Poll.

However, there were also signs in the poll that concern over Ebola has not yet spilled over into outright panic. More than four out of five respondents told the pollsters they don't plan to make any changes in their daily routine because of the outbreak, and three-quarters said they're still more worried about catching the flu than Ebola.

Of course, that could change if any of the people who came into contact with Duncan contract Ebola themselves, Taylor noted.

The public's anxiety may also be amplified by a lack of understanding about the virus.

For example, three out of four of those polled said they are concerned that people carrying Ebola will infect others before showing symptoms themselves.

But that simply can't happen, according to both Tosh and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Ebola can only be transmitted by people who have fallen ill and are already showing symptoms -- and even then only if a healthy person comes into contact with the body fluids of a sick person, Tosh said.

He believes the situation in West Africa is dire because people don't have proper sanitation or access to either health care or funeral services, which puts them in direct contact with the blood, vomit, feces and other excretions of both living and dead Ebola patients.

"The situation in West Africa that has allowed the outbreak to continue is very different than what is happening in the United States," Tosh said.

According to the World Health Organization, over 8,000 cases of Ebola have now been reported in West Africa, and more than 4,000 people have died.

Methodology

This Harris Poll/HealthDaystudy was conducted online within the United States between October 2 and 6, 2014 among 2,053 adults (aged 18 and over). Figures for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, region and household income were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population. Propensity score weighting was also used to adjust for respondents' propensity to be online.

All sample surveys and polls, whether or not they use probability sampling, are subject to multiple sources of error which are most often not possible to quantify or estimate, including sampling error, coverage error, error associated with nonresponse, error associated with question wording and response options, and post-survey weighting and adjustments. Therefore, The Harris Poll avoids the words "margin of error" as they are misleading. All that can be calculated are different possible sampling errors with different probabilities for pure, unweighted, random samples with 100% response rates. These are only theoretical because no published polls come close to this ideal.

Respondents for this survey were selected from among those who have agreed to participate in Harris Poll surveys. The data have been weighted to reflect the composition of the adult population. Because the sample is based on those who agreed to participate in our panel, no estimates of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.

I don't see the average US person making any major changes to their lives UNTIL someone THEY know gets it OR somehow it hurts them PERSONALLY.

We have a nation of sheep that believe what they are told (as well as being lazy--the main reason no American works in the service industry anymore).

If one percent of the US population decides it would be good to stock up just a bit, in case they need to avoid going out, that will be enough to set it off. Shortages will appear in grocery stores that have only a day's worth of product on hand. That will get attention, and others will take note. In three days we'll have a pre-hurricane food panic. Once that happens, it will be like the ongoing .22 shortage - as soon as anything appears, it will be snapped up.

We are a gnat's whisker away from panic, and once it takes hold it will be unrelenting. The danger is not in Ebola, it's in the panic.

Actually the gov is the one minimizing and downplaying the danger of Ebola, after pretending it didn't exist for months.

Just wait until it comes out how widespread it truly is, and we will see panic unlike we have ever seen. Stores will be empty, guns ammo gone. It will happen nationwide, eventually.

The reason I posted this poll is it is the first concrete example that concerns about Ebola are starting to gain traction with the American sheeple. If you read this poll correctly, you will note it is the second Ebola poll. The first was taken in mid-September and had 13 percent saying Ebola was a serious threat. The poll listed above was taken between October 2nd and 6th. In a little over two weeks, MM the number of serious concern doubled from 13 percent to 27 percent. This is a staggering increase in one poll cycle. This is why the CDC is in full denial mode in my opinion.

The other key thing I noticed was the fact that people indicated they would actually change behavior in response to Ebola concerns. It is one thing for people to have a nebulous "concern" about Ebola; it is the next level for them to change what they planned to do as a result of this concern. This poll is the first clear indication the American people are starting to get seriously concerned about Ebola. It is also the first clear indication they will take specific steps based on that concern.

The final decisive factor, in my opinion, is 25 percent of the American people plan to alter, change, or cut back on travel plans during the Holiday season. This alone will have a significant economic impact all by itself. Assuming this holds true we can expect up to a 25 percent decline in air travel, hotel use and likely restaurant. Right there, gang you got yourself a Service Industry mini recession.

I think this poll is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what people think. Granted, many Americans aren't going to take Ebola seriously until a group of HazMat suit wearing people shows up at their front door. Still, it is a fact that in less than two weeks Ebola concerns doubled, and caused people to alter their Holiday travel plans.

Depending on what happens with the Duncan family, the number of additional cases in Dallas, or anywhere else, this poll shows the American people are starting to take notice. They are also planning to take specific steps they think will reduce their personal exposure to Ebola. And finally, if people are planning to reduce air travel, why would they not limit exposure, potential exposure, to Ebola by not going to malls, movie theaters etc.

This poll is telling us that the economic impact of Ebola fears will have a direct impact on both consumer attitudes and spending. Yep, the CDC Cretin has now created a crisis unfolding, out of control, with no timely and accurate information for the American people.

Other than that, MM don't worry, be happy and take a plane to Dallas! <G>

Local liberal Long Island, NY, news 12 poll;

Do you think enough is being done to stop the spread of Ebola in the U.S.?

Yes (162) 18%

No (733) 82%

http://longisland.news12.com/polls/question-of-the-day-10-09-spread-of-ebola-1.9484086

And if the next poll question was would you vote for Obama again if he could run versus an unknown GOP, the results would be 100% Obama.
Until those people make the connection that their vote allowed Ebola to come here nothing will change--and I don't see that happening, ever.

Shaking sheeple stand nervously in line to receive their authorized governmental
Ebola inoculation, guaranteed to end their festering fears and halt irrational panic
among the unwashed herds who smell distinctive doomish odors in the Zeitgeist.
Public health officials are so impressed with the effectiveness of this inexpensive
cure that they'll open clinics nationwide for those afflicted with the common cold,
thereby reducing the likelihood of useless eaters stampeding over their agendas.

Look at the polls for 2014 elections.

O came on TV recently and said this election is a referendum on his policies.

Latest polls show GOP not taking Senate.

I went to see elderly relative this past week. Ebola is not on his radar at all. He does read two newspapers but the thought that I couldn't come and bring him stuff in the nursing home was ludicrous to him. No concept that no one else could bring stuff either if Ebola hits. To him I was making up total fantasy problems.

I received a very scary e-mail yesterday, concerning the spread of ebola.....and it will be spreading quickly....the article said, forced vaccinations, beginning with school aged kids.

The e-mail went on to say that bill gates, soros and monsanto, are behind the big push for every one, and I mean everyone on this planet to get vaccinated. Ebola is in 9 states and within two weeks it will have spread to 40 states, with the media covering it all up. The e-mail went on to say that you will be detained and forcibly vaccinated without informed consent or semblance of due process. Do you have your vaccination card yet? You will. There will be vaccine roadblocks designed to arrest and transport, for detainment, individuals who refuse to be vaccinated.

It wasn't the most pleasant e-mail I've ever received. And, when I tried to forward it to my yahoo account, it was blocked. And when I tried to forward it from my yahoo account, it was also blocked. (I had to change the subject line to receive it at my yahoo account)

Don't flame me, I am only passing along what the e-mail said.....don't quote me, don't know what source the info came from; just a friend forwarding an e-mail to me.....

My wife is a nurse but she usually calls me doom and gloom and shirks off what I say. She shocked me yesterday when our 30 yo daughter said she wants to go on vacation and my wife told he don't even think about flying! She said she won't even think about flying with this ebola out there. Maybe there's hope for her yet!

The second Ebola infected person in Dallas is receiving widespread mainstream media coverage, despite any CDC information control efforts. The ratings are just too good for the media to pass on the story.

Gang, if in mid September, 13 percent of the American people thought Ebola was a "serious issue," and on October 2 to 6th, this doubled to 27 percent, what do you think the third poll will show in the next few days?

It is like that scene in the movie "Red River." The herd is nervous from the storm. The guy looking for candy starts banging around on the Chuck Wagon. The herd then stampedes and runs over the cowboy watching the herd.

The Sheeple are ignorant. The Sheeple will follow the mainstream media with its obsession about trivia. They will do this until they feel personally threatened by Ebola. AND THEN THEY WILL STAMPEDE AND CRUSH ANYTHING IN THEIR PATH. Yep, when the American people panic over Ebola, the "system" will be unable to contain them.

Spoke with my brother that works in one of the local hospitals. Not a word on ebola precautions or planning. The only thing was a post by a doctor on hospital employee blog stating it's nothing to worry about.

FYI My husband works in auxiliary services at a large hospital in Texas. The new procedures are:

The question of where someone has traveled is now on the first form a person sees when coming to the ER.
If a person shows symptoms and has traveled to West Africa, he is put in an isolation room nearby that has an easy chair, TV, and negative pressure (which is turned on with a special machine and can be implemented within one minute.)
The Infectious Disease "team" is notified and is supposed to implement special protocols immediately.

My questions:
What happens if more than one person needs to be isolated. This could be problem if only one room is available.

How many people are on the Infectious Disease team? Answer: Don't know.
How many nurses have received the intense training required to deal with a Level IV virus? Answer: Probably not.
Do the nurses have the proper equipment? Answer: Don't know.
How many isolation rooms are available? Answer: Not many.
Are the rooms equipped to handle Level IV? Answer: No.

To my husband personally:
Will you enter a room without Level IV protection if your job requires it? Answer: No
Do you plan to quit work if the nurses stop showing up? Answer: Don't know.

So, you can see why I'm one of the 25% who considers this virus to be a serious threat.

A few people may be waking up but few are really prepared

And ummm ... What about the "just in time" system of shipping goods across the country? If planes are consistently delayed and quarantined because of suspected cases, that would be enough to disrupt the flow of commerce.

The Drudgereport.com headline is going to freak the Sheeple out big time. It is a good thing I posted the original story on the poll from CBS news since it vanished within 24 hours. Also, it was BURIED deep towards the bottom of the webpage in the health section. LOL

The next poll should be being taken right about now I think. 13 percent in mid September, with 27 percent early October, and who knows what it will be now. Of course, that assumes a new poll is taken, much less released to the public. LOL

At any rate, Ebola concern is starting to gain traction with the Sheeple, and that is bad news for the powers that be.

There must be immediate (non-racist!) emergency procedures put in place now for all airports, ports, hospitals, emergency services etc for the detection and treatment of possible EBC62 cases. All flights from affected countries should be stopped, all of this until the threat disappears completely. If it's OTT then better safe than dead.
