Food Newspaper blurb from 1783 warning of the dangers of bad mushroom identification

This is OT and yet not. Threads come and go about wildcrafting and foraging and I thought I'd share something I found proving that mushroom identification was serious business even during the early years of this country.

This newspaper clipping is from the Pennsylvania Packet and is dated 1783. I've been doing some research at newspapers.com and ran across this purely by accident but it is interesting nonetheless. Even back when foraging was common and often necessary people made mistakes, so let it serve as a warning to never assume anything about mushrooms, etc. Do your research and keep a field guide handy. And practice now when there is modern medical help in case of accident.
