Has No Life - Lives on TB
My microwave died about a month ago. It was an over the stove unit. A friend came up and we pulled the unit. I am very happy with the open space now available over my oven and am not looking, at all, to replace the microwave. So there have been a few adjustments to things.
Interestingly enough, the hardest thing to adapt was reheating leftovers for lunch. Until I remembered the wok and steamer. Both of those items now help me to easily reheat leftovers, and really don't take any longer than the microwave did. In addition, the items are thoroughly heated and don't cool off so rapidly. The wok works great for the "one pan" type of meals. Just a little oil, stir stuff around as it reheats, plate and serve. I use the steamer for the veg and meat combos. Drop the veg in, drop the meat on top wrapped in foil, give it 5 to 10 minutes, and then it is hot and ready. (And if you don't mind them mixed, you can leave off the foil). One of the other bonuses is that neither way tends to over dry things like the microwave did.
