Owner had his heart attack at age 40.
He had been working construction jobs for his employer, eating "construction food", had just had his first child and the wife was pregnant with their second, had just lost his wife's mother to cancer. And his job was a lot of travel and stress.
Somewhere there is an "index" of life's events which a high score indicates one is more liable to a heart attack. Owner says he was "well qualified" for his "event."
He survived. And at least in part that is the reason I am part of Owner's life as he attempted post heart-attack to "get back to the land" on his ancestral acres.
Owner has some interesting statistics regarding heart attacks.
One in 5 American males will have some sort of heart attack during their life.
Half of these go un-noticed/un-recognized. The other half result in death. Thus your chance of death because of a heart attack as an American male is about one in 10.
Owner kind of straddled the margin. Not sure if his was a heart attack - he was brought to the ER and examination found one of his five arterial passages plugged 100 percent (i.e. the "widowmaker.") Owner survived because he is among the 11 percent of the male population that has FIVE major arteries feeding the heart, rather than the usual four.
(Doctor): "If you had blown this off, you likely would have been dead within a week."
Horse condolences to all the eXe connected. There are not enough good humans in the world, and a surplus of the not so good.
But the winnow is not in human hands.
