If those yellow states were broken into two more smaller states, isolating the big cities as their own state there would be a whole lot more green on that map. I do not think that would have much effect at the national level but at the state level millions of people would no longer be held captive by the populous cities that currently run roughshod over entire states.

Why would any truly patriotic and educated American submit to a permit requirement to carry a gun ?

Because with one, I can not only carry in Texas but also in any other state that honors it, and skip the NICS background check when buying a gun, and have a free pass for minor stuff when I'm getting pulled over.
Aaaaand I can legally carry in places where you're not allowed to carry otherwise.

Even thou open carry is legal in Wyoming I rarely see anyone doing it. Concealed is another story.

Spent a night in jail, 2002, for open carry…..Illinois….no FOID card.
Officer even threatened to go after my wife, also a staunch libertarian but much less outspoken than I….she was at home, 7 months pregnant and three little ones.
After WACO, she never batted an eye regarding my stance and actions regarding strategic withdrawal and a full assertion of all rights without apology.
When I called her that night, she told me to hold fast (actually to “stick to my guns”, but that would be cliche’ by this point, no ?
)Following day, officer was in an odd state of discomfort. Botched his story several times, from the stand, and all but apologized to me in the hallway, after.
He hadn’t heard of me before.
Somebody talked to him…..
I walked.
I have multiple guns in various calibers and configurations.
State police know it.
All three acting sheriffs then and since know it.
Obviously the feds know it.
I am unthreatening…..and undisturbed.
So, the rest of you permit-holders…thanks for caving, and making life more dangerous for those of us who will not.
My refusal to fund corrupt government any more than what is absolutely necessary to remain functional (sales tax) is a topic for another thread.

The problem is......at this point in time, it's less 'headache' to 'go along'. The tallest nail get's the hammer first. I have watched all of the 'Johnny Liberty" videos. I was hoping PA would make that short list. PA is good on having easy to get concealed carry permits and open carry with a CCW to back it up. Permitless carry would be a good next step and it would be a great opening to get the ball rolling in the greater anti-gun northeast.

Pa has always had "decent" or I'm other words not many gun laws.
I didn't include pa in my comments since the governor is a communist.
PA has a Republican majority in the house but I don't think they are veto proof.
