Email Phishing Emails Increasing

I'm posting this because I am really seeing an increase in phishing emails. I got one from "Lowes" Monday, and one from Southwest Airlines this morning. Body of the email is "You are a winner! Click here to get..."

Both emails came from a gibberish email account on sgoptical.com. That is a spoof domain.

Do not click on these!!

Day by day
We've been getting them, too, for at least a few weeks....easily upwards of 20 a day, often the same one in pairs. We're clearing cookies at least once a week, running scans, etc., and those emails will slow for about a day, then start right back up.

I'm guessing they're coming off of websites we're visiting on a daily basis.

Actually, they have code in the email that lets them know that you opened it, so they send more hoping you will fall for one of them. Or at least that is my understanding.

Interesting, good to know. thanks. Fortunately, I haven't opened any of these emails. I just hover my cursor over the sending address to see who it's from.

I have read somewhere that blocking the sender gets back to them, so they'll keep sending. Guess it's better to just delete the darn things, but it's irritating and relentless.

You also need to be wary of Recruiters. BeinIt's really cut down on the fishing
I check email links, scan the message for the usual clues then open everything, click BLOCK & mark as SPAM.

It's really cut down on the physhing. and as I treat the quiver-filler Recruiter types the same way, we've cut them way back plus picked up some ad hoc projects from some real companies like PWC.
