Thought I would go ahead and get us started.

I did make it to Harbor Freight and bought 2 of the large moving blankets that I had a coupon for--1 will go in each vehicle.

Two more trips to different Walgreens netted 4 more boxes of cold medicine, 2 boxes of splenda and 2 boxes of dishwasher tablets. I now have enough cold medicine for another year, all bought with coupons and in store rebates. The splenda was on sale and I had coupons, I haven't had to buy dishwasher tablets in about 3 years and still have at least another 1.5 years of tablets remaining, but there was a good sale and good coupons, so I picked up some for the first time in ages.

There wasn't anything interesting on sale in the ads in Sunday's paper, so I probably won't be doing any shopping this coming week.

Our prep for this week is to pay to have some repair and maintenance done on my parents' property. Some we could do most of it ourselves but given the distance (more than two hours) it just isn't feasible logistically plus my parents know a couple of people at their church that need the work that they trust. One is an older carpenter, the other is a younger man with a young family to support. Good deal all around and takes a load off of our mind. My parents have fought us tooth and nail having this done for them but I finally talked them into letting us to it for their 50th Wedding Anniversary which is this coming weekend. It is almost as big a present/prep for me as it is for them. I'm just that relieved.

So sorry not trying to take your thread. I had made a post and then got a phone call and forgot to hit the post it. Then when I did come back on later there it sat. So I just hit post. And didn' t realize that you had posted.

LOL! Don't worry, you didn't hurt my feelings. You hadn't started one yet and I was online, so I did. Figured you just didn't see it. The more posts the better!

Did some stuff today ... hit Dollar Tree, Aldi, Staples, and a few other places. I've still got a list as long as my leg of holes to fill that have developed over the last couple of months. Not fun shopping but necessary shopping.

As normal.. did some canned goods rotation. Went to the SHOT show in vegas yesterday, so I hit up a new prepper and survival store in Henderson NV (About 10 miles outside of Vegas) and ended up buying a good deal of mountain house stuff they had. Now I have a nice new line of #10 cans of good stuff on the store room shelves :) Name of the place is called Tru Survival, I can see shopping there in the future too, prices were very good.

On this note, two "survival" stores closed here in Tampa. I'd only gone in each one once because frankly their prices were no better than what I could hunt up else where and one of the shops gave me the heebies for some reason. I listen to my instincts because they have proved right more than once. Both "should" have done well and did in the beginning but I suspect bad management and inexperience killed one of the stores off, not sure about the other one.

Noticed the urban and organic farm not too far from my house has really ramped up its advertising. In all the years passed - and it has been around for a number of years - the only advertising it needed was word of mouth. They are either wanting to expand or they've lost a significant amount of their original customer base and are looking for new customers. I'll have to check and see how their prices are.

Planning to use a few coupons at Joann's to pick up some heavy wool fabric. That stuff is up to $35 a yard (!!!) so it takes some really good coupons before I can even think about doing it.

Also need to pick up some fencing for the garden. I can't do any work on it until spring, but I can have my supplies ready to go.

Trying to figure out which chickens are laying - Ive never been good at telling from looking at the vents. Really need to cull some. They're going thru too much feed and I'm not getting enough eggs. I need to do some baking too. I might get it done unless DH finds more stuff for me to do.
