Phil's yearly ceremony is all in good fun and there is a group of people that take part and most are new to it each year and rehearsed. There has been a number of Phil's over the years as they only live for so many years.

I am listening to the snow melt and slide off the sunroof, and I can feel the vibration when the massive lump of snow hits the ground. Been a tolerable winter here in maine. But don’t come here to enjoy the summer. The ticks are still killing off last years tourists...

Stephen King books assure me this isn't true, as Mainers love summer tourists. Or, more correctly, their money. :D

Here in SW Arizona, as of late it has been rainy again with El Nino. Most of the western US is below normal for the snowpack in the mountains, especially in parts of Washington, Northern Idaho, and Montana. If it doesn't change there could be some real fires next summer in places of the high country. But some places in Alaska like Anchorage though has received record snow this winter.

Some of the best places in the west for the snowpack is in SE Oregon, nearby Nevada, very southern Idaho, and nearby Utah.

This is according to the western US snow water equivalent map, which goes by water basin drainages.

Never been to Maine, but love the beautiful pictures and videos I’ve seen of that area…

Probably never will make it there, because, as Blacknarwhal said, the Steven King books have me thinking the whole area is filled with death!

:D

Though an early spring can be a problem for fruit trees. My dad told me the other day he saw people out tapping maples already. That might get some of the fruit trees budding early.

I heard someone talking about this today online, and they said that Punxsutawney Phil's accuracy rate is approximately 30%, and flipping a nickel is more accurate. Did not verify the veracity of it, but did think it was funny.
That is HATE SPEECH against the Groundhog community...
On a side note... Punxsutawney Phil did give his endorsement for Donald J Trump.
Punxsutawney does not Jose taking over his duties and squatting in his hole.

We've had pneumonia weather here in Florida ... very up and down. Of course what we call winter other people call spring and summer but that doesn't do anything but say "Y'all Come!" to the snowbirds.
