Results of Chaparral Salve

I used the salve to remove a growth. I was not use if it was cancer or not. I did not use the tea internally. The salve removed the growth one layer at a time. But Im sorry to say that it did not kill the cancer at skin level. My cat constantly scrated the sore and infected it. Took her to the vet and she said it is an adenoma of the gland on top of the cats head. She suggested we remove the growth so healthy tissue could adhere the incision. She also said that if not removed, it could be an on-going wound care prone to more infection. I opted for the surgery. Im glad I did it. We are not sure it has spread at this point.

Im hoping it was localized as most adenoma's are. Two days later she is her old self again. I also noted that she was constantly scratching her ears for a year or so. No itching now. So Im looking into home made cat food. Im sure or have a feeling that the preservatives in her store bought dry food was the problem Now Im looking for recipes to make my own as she is no longer scratching. Anyone have a recipe? I will be checking in with the vet on tuesday to see of she has any recipes. Most of the sites I have found on home made cat food suggest feeding rodants, grasshoppers and raw meat. I cannot for the life of me bring home mice and watch the distruction. I had a hard enough time in Tech school feeding pinkeys to the snakes. Those are little new born mice. It was gross.

I know about supplementing with vitamins and minerals and especially taurine. But taurine can only be found in red meats.

Herbie, I tried switching my cats off the special diet (feline urinary dry food diet) to chicken hearts, innards, ect.. and they won't touch it.
Sometimes I can't even get them to eat tuna fish!

What does your cat normally eat?

Cardinal. At this point Im feeding the sick kitty baby food. Beef, Chicken and Turkey. It is what we used to feel sick kittys who do not want to eat in emergency. She loves it.

I just tried the raw meat diet on my other kittys. Mooney, the cancer kitty will not touch it. The other two love it.

I took one pound of stew meat and 2 cups of mixed vegetables and pulverized the mixture in the food processor. I also added one half cup milk and some supplemental cat vitamins from the vet. I mixed it up and then added one teaspoon cod liver oil for the essential fatty acids.

You can make this to. I froze it in one half cup portions. You can then take it out to thaw or cook it a little if they do not like raw. Figures the dog loves it! Im going to call the vet Monday and see if she has a recipe.

If you offer the meat baby food, you will need to add vitamin and minerals for the kitty that is sick. Most of the cat vitamins contain Taurine that cats need. The sites I visited suggested substituting a small amount of the raw to the dry and slowly working the dry out and only give the raw recipe. By the way Cardinal. Merry Christmas.

Hmmmm, gonna try the stew meat with vegies thing. My cancer kitty is doing well so far, but he is a young cat, so he still has bounce-back-ability.
I am pretty sure diet caused his problem too, although the Vet said his cancer is caused by the sun. Anyway, I am still going to try to switch his diet.

Finally. The surgery went well. I just removed the sutures and tonight, for the first time Mooney played with a ball. I nursed her 24/7. She is gaining weight and looking good.

I made another homemade diet that all three cats like.

one pound of ground beef cooked
one half chicken breast cooked
one teaspoon olive oil
one teaspoon calcium carbomate
one teaspoon brewers yeast for B Vits
one clove garlic cooked with the meats
2 tablespoons of essential fatty acids added to cooled recipe.

After cooking the meats with the olive oil, I blended them down in a food processor until the mixture was creamy. I then added the calcium, yeast, and essential fatty acids and did a low blend. I froze little 2.5 baby food jars of food and take one out every 2 days to feed Mooney. I have to add a little water to make it more creamy but she is responding well. Her coat is looking shiney, her energy is very good.

She also had this thing she did with her face. It was like minny seizures. These have subsided. She has had them for 2 years. Doctor thinks they are neuro. I think it was a calcium loss. But the cancer might have been localized. If it was not, she would not have gained one half a pound in 10 days. I prayed. My prayers were answered.

Yes Cardinal. It is great news. What is not great news is the level of attention and care Im now suckered into with her eating habits.

I started mixing some of the homemade food with baby food. In her opinion the homemade must have a little chicken baby food and both must be warm. So this means if I do not get the right temperature and blend, she will turn her nose up at it. Now Im locked into being here to feed her 3 times a day. She will no longer touch the dry cat food. Just sits there and stares at the bowl.

I have created a monster that costs 90 cents a day to feed. Oh and the daily brushings and the new soft comforter that takes up the end of the couch. I can no longer lay down and be comfortable myself with out the evil stare that Im in her space. Ungrateful little twit!
