Taco Soup

no recipe here, but i was at sam's club today and they had a guy demonstrating a Vitamizer (?) and he made Tortilla soup.........MAN WAS IT GOOD! i would have bought one on the spot but could not justify $389 right now. prolly coulda talked hubby boy into it, he gave me all of the "alright to buy" signals, but that is alot of money to me for something that i am afraid would end up parked next to the ice cream maker and espresso machine. i must be getting cheap in my old age. it was really cool, though and the soup, sorbet and fruit smoothie were made from vegetables and fruit that you have on hand. he even said it is a good way to use up the last of the scraps that you would otherwise throw out. maybe it would be worth it! :)

Do a search on Tortilla Soup on specifically Recipegoldmine.com and you'll come up with several to choose from. I printed out a couple and kind of used the ingredients suggested and made my own with what I had in the pantry. It wasn't all that magnificant to me but DH absolutely loved it. I didn't have any lime as I recall and I think it would have made it much better to give it a citrus kick.

I make tomato soup and add salsa and grated cheese to it and use tortilla chips for dipping. I have never had taco soup. What kind of ingredients are in it? It sounds good.

I ate it in Mexico 3 years ago. It looked much like Tomato soup and came with cheese and some kind of spice mix on the side. I was told not to use the the spice mix because it was very hot so I didn't but the soup was truly wonderful. Didn't taste a thing like Tomato soup.
