Robert Dean Maher Jr. of Casper, Wyoming, reportedly received a concerned call from his girlfriend Sunday indicating that a pair of teens were stalking her and her friend around the Eastridge Mall. The chivalrous 14-year-old made his way over to help but was savagely stabbed to death.

The Casper Police Department announced that they have arrested two teens in connection with Maher's slaying.
According to the Cowboy State Daily, the suspected killer is 15-year-old Jarreth Joseflee Sabstian Plunkett of Evansville. Plunkett now faces charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated assault and battery, and theft. He has been charged as an adult.

He apparently did not work alone. Dominique Harris of Casper, 15, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aggravated assault and battery, and theft.

In court, police referenced cellphone footage captured by a witness revealing the victim "clearly did not want to fight," reported the Oil City News. The victim's friend told police that upon finding the girls at the mall, he simply tried to escort them away to keep them safe.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Blaine Nelson indicated that upon learning that Maher had made it to the mall, the suspects stole knives from Target then went to confront their victim.

While Maher managed to make it outside the mall, the aggressors precluded him from getting much farther.

According to the affidavit, one of the accused murderers, wearing a balaclava at the time, told Maher "to swing on him several times; however, (Maher) clearly did not want to fight as he is seen moving in a continuous backwards motion away from Jarreth."

"However, due to numerous other juveniles gathering around, it appeared as if he was unable to get back inside the mall," continued the affidavit.

Casper Police noted that other individuals potentially involved in the case "have been identified and questioned by law enforcement, and further action may be forthcoming."

When Plunkett allegedly brandished the large kitchen knife, Oil City News indicated Maher said, "Put the knife away, this isn't fair."
Plunkett allegedly responded, "I don't play fair."

In video of the slaying, Harris can allegedly be seen grabbing Maher by the waist and slamming him into the ground near the Hibachi Supreme Buffet in the mall. Plunkett then allegedly stabbed Maher twice in the chest with a "kitchen-style knife" while Harris punched the boy in the face.

After the attack, camera footage showed the victim grip his bloody abdomen, stagger through the mall's exterior doorway, then collapse, reported KGWN-TV. A third suspect apparently kicked Maher after his stabbing.

"They were seen laughing and pointing as they ran through the parking lot while witnesses attempted first aid," said Nelson.
Wyoming is a death penalty state.

CPD Sgt. Michael Paschke swiftly responded to the scene and took over for the adults administering CPR. The boy later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

CPD Lt. Scott Jones said, "An unfortunate thing where a young man was assaulted and died of his wounds. We feel for the family, friends, classmates of that student. Just a tragedy regardless. A tragedy because we have other juveniles involved whether suspects or bystanders," reported the Casper Star Tribune.

"In my time in law enforcement, this doesn't happen," continued Jones. "We've been seeing an increase in frequency and severity [of youth crime] over the last several years. Just an unfortunate trend of our times."

It appears this was not a random attack.

Investigators indicated that Plunkett allegedly told Harris that he was going to "gut that dude" three days earlier. The victim and both suspects attended Dean Morgan Junior High together.

Ashlyn Benbo, an apparent friend of the victim's family, noted in a GoFundMe campaign that has raised over $40,000 for his funeral expenses that Maher "left behind his dad Robert, his mom Mary and his 3 brothers."

This happen last week in my little city. So sad, but many teens have no parental guidance and cannot control their urges and emotions. Both of these murderers will get either life in prison with no chance of parole or will get the a death sentence. Wyoming will probably sentence them to death. Good! Saves the tax payers money if we just hang both their asses.

Wyoming is one of the last places I would have expected to see this. There are no safe places anymore. I learned this after some teens did some horrendous crimes in a smaller town in Oregon, outside of Bend. It was just up the road from us about thirty years ago and unheard of. It's only gotten worse.

Doubt.
Like, I REAAAAAAALLY doubt it in todays "softer" and "better" Victim Injustice system (I refuse to call it "Criminal Justice" with how things are going).

The poor disadvantaged minorities will get a slap on the wrist (juvie until 18, and they'll have street cred in the system) and then be free to murder again.
And make no mistake the stats show that they WILL MURDER AGAIN.

This will worm its way slowly through the Courts for years with psychological reports, weeping Mothers, stone faced Fathers, social justice warriors proclaiming the perps were really the victims.
These psycho “children” will do it again.

Everyone involved needs to witness the immediate execution of these two balaclava wearing thugs. Immediate public execution. Ten or twenty or forty years from now, means nothing if it even comes to that which is extremely doubtful. Not a thing. Zero.

SICKENING

Words can't describe the entities that did this. No IQ is more logical than low IQ. Stupid, can't begin to describe...evil is the closest word, and likely accurate to a T. It is running wild.

Wyoming is a death penalty state.
And????
If the Death Penalty were applied as it should be, it would actually be a deterrent.
These are "children" and "disadvantaged."
If they actually do their duty I'll be surprised and admit I'm wrong......but I doubt that I'll have to.

There is so much evil in the world. It is like the gates of hell have opened.
There has always been evil in the world........a LOT of it.
Right now the main problem is that the State is protecting the Bad FROM the Good for some Alinsky-ist purpose.

The barbarity on display today is no different than most places at most times, except that it hasn't happened here (recently), and there is a concerted effort to stop Rightous punishment and retribution for the Bad.
There WILL be a paradigm shift once enough people have had enough.

NEW: 14-year-old Wyoming boy stabbed to death while protecting his girlfriend from two ski-masked teens.

Hero.

Robert Dean Maher is dead after being stabbed twice in the stomach at the Eastridge Mall in Casper, WY.

According to a friend, Maher's girlfriend called him, saying two males were following her and her friend around the mall.

When he arrived, 15-year-olds Dominique Antonio Richard Harris and Jarreth Joseflee Sabastian Plunkett allegedly stabbed Maher in the stomach with a stolen knife from Target.

The thugs were apparently hunting Maher's girlfriend because of an incident that happened a few weeks prior.

Maher had allegedly called the pair "freaks."

Plunkett and Harris said that Maher must "pay" for his comment in "blood debt" which is why they stabbed him.

According to the affidavit, Maher was trying to avoid the fight at the mall and was moving backwards when the teens attacked him.

Maher was beaten and slammed to the ground and was stabbed in the stomach.

He didn't even throw a single punch

Apparently the entire altercation, including the murder of him was all captured on video at the mall

I have no words to describe this attack. Why on earth would they do something like that? Maybe egged on by showing off to the crowd of teens? That poor innocent young man dead for absolutely no reason. Every single teen in that group should be charged with enabling if not participating. There needs to be strong consequences for them. As for the three who physically attacked him, I pray justice will be swift and harsh.

I think the Supreme Court ruled a number of years ago that no life without parole or death for teenagers. Hope I'm wrong.

This is sickening. Anyone anywhere videoing someone being brutally beaten, stomped, shot, or stabbed to death should be charged as an accomplice. They treat it like entertainment.
Are these murderers the usual ones?
on one hand I agree with you.

on the other hand, lotsa prime evidence for police.

They show the pictures of the 14 year old murder victim, but we must protect the identity of the named 15 year olds who did the crime and we hide the pictures.... cuz... minors?

The 2 criminals stole knives just before this with malice aforethought. I guess the police were busy writing traffic tickets or beating up old people... cuz.... cops wanna go home at night safe & sound.

They will probably die in Gen-Pop. After Bubba and his buddies "use" them.

This is just awful! Those two should hang. They're guilty and they knew what they were doing. In 20 years they might realize it was wrong but the damage is still done and innocent lives forever changed. All this over being called a freak.....man I glad they weren't alive 40-50 years ago! They'd never have survived!

The boy looked so frail. My brother and other boys at that age had some muscle definition.
Reminds me of that first episode of Vikings where the young boy is being taught to sword fight. Maybe parents need to put their very young children in some kind of martial arts training. Easy enough to disarm someone with a knife.
And the attack on the Grandson, you have to assume it is coming with everyone you see on the street. It's always been that way. An attack may come but at least it doesn't blindside you.
Anyway, just my thoughts. Sad though for his family.
