You know the USA is doomed when Portland, Oregon gets lows of 25 degrees Farenheit during Thanksgiving weekend. We are also looking at snow in the Rockies, the Sierra Nevadas, and even the Cascades. Further, the maps show the NE getting pasted, along with the central states

Thanksgiving Day Outlook

An expansive storm system will impact travel on Thanksgiving Day in the West and Plains.

(MORE: America's 10 Most Weather-Delayed Major Airports)

Travel Concerns: Rain and snow could cause travel problems from Southern California into the Rockies and Plains. Lingering wind might cause airport delays in the Northeast.

Northeast: Gusty winds from low pressure tracking toward Atlantic Canada could create delays at some Northeast airports. That system might also bring lingering snow showers to parts of northern New England.

South: Portions of the Southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley could experience wet roads as scattered showers move through. The Southeast will experience dry travel as high pressure moves over the region.

Midwest: Snow might slicken roads in the Northern and Central Plains. Rain could dampen roads from the mid-Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley.

West: Snow will fall down to valley floors of the interior West, including Salt Lake City. Parts of the Desert Southwest and Southern California will see more rain.

A slight break before more rain and mountain snow

After some light rain moved through late Saturday night and early Sunday, we're waking up to a bit of remaining light rain or heavy mist in SW WA and NW OR on this Sunday, Nov. 24th.

Fog and overcast skies were prevalent around the Metro area. Expect conditions to dry slightly through the midday, as we'll be between systems. Rain redevelops across the region late this afternoon into the evening hours. Mountain snow begins to fall, with snow levels dropping to around 3,000' (below pass level) tonight into Monday.

Monday looks fairly wet for the lowlands. Mountains will continue to see snow. If you or your family are driving over the passes, especially into Southern Oregon Tuesday or Wednesday, please use www.tripcheck.com to track the latest conditions with live cameras and alerts. Be prepared for winter driving conditions if you are heading out of the Valley and into or over the mountains at all.

Rain and snow showers continue into Tuesday morning, but then the moisture cuts off and the East Wind starts to fire up. It will pump much colder air into the Metro and Valley locations. So while we'll dry out for the most part, we will likely see temperatures decline rapidly from the 40s to the 30s. Overnight lows will be in the 20s.

WHINE ALL YOU WANT TO, 25 AT NIGHT IN PORTLAND, OREGON IS COLD!!!!!

Looks like another system moves into the region later Saturday for another round of lowland rain and mountain snow.

Today (Sunday, Nov. 24th) - Light rain early, foggy or overcast, some midday breaks, more rain PM - 52

Tonight - Rain and mountain snow (snow level dropping overnight to 3,000') - 41

Monday - Rain and mountain snow - 48

Tuesday - Showers early, east wind developing - 45

Wednesday - Dry, cold and blustery - 41

Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) - Dry - 38

Friday - Clear, sunny, east wind redevelops - COLD A.M. 25 / DAYTIME HIGH 36

Saturday - Increasing clouds - 20s to start, 37 for high - P.M. rain possible

It's not going to be bad here. Good grief...yesterday, I had 48 degrees in the afternoon and rain in the evening. Supposed to be some sorta snowy mix off and on for the next few days and dry on Thursday. Haha! Believe me, we've had worse Thanksgiving weeks. Counting Blessings. ;)

We actually have a snow warning here in Pahrump Nevada, I was shocked. They are saying it could reach the valley floor (we already got it up in the mountains a few days ago) so we will see.

Mid 20's all week long for Portland

We are looking at low temps in the mid 20's here in Portland for the next five days at least. And yeah, for weather wimps, like most Portland people, that is cold.:strs: And it looks like the Cascades are going to get a fairly rare Thanksgiving Snow event. Skiers will be happy!

PORTLAND, Ore. — A big storm is approaching Oregon, which could create a nightmare for travelers trying to get over mountain passes in the next few days.

Snow is already on the ground on Highway 26 near Government Camp.

Winter conditions are expected to hit more passes in the Cascades, and travelers heading to California over the Siskiyou Mountains could even face blizzard-like conditions.

Hundreds of cars were left stranded on Interstate 5 headed north from California into Oregon Wednesday following a major storm that dumped snow and created white-out conditions on both sides of the state borders.

Drivers reported being stuck for 17 or more hours in blizzard conditions and some spent the night in their vehicles as large swathes of the country were paralyzed by a 'bomb cyclone' and up to 30 inches of snow.

Stranded cars made it difficult for plows to clear the freeway and it was unclear when the northbound lanes would reopen. I-5 was closed in both directions late Tuesday because of the storm. The southbound lanes are said to have reopened at Ashland, Oregon early Wednesday.

Two major winter storms are disrupting the travel plans of millions of Americans headed to Thanksgiving Day destinations on jam-packed highways and airplanes Wednesday.

Those living in the western two-thirds of the country have been badly hit with deteriorating conditions, forcing the closure of interstates and resulting in canceled flights - just as 55 million set off for the holidays.

Travel was particularly perilous over the Siskiyou Summit, one of the more treacherous mountain passes, and just south of the Oregon-California state line.

'There is a large number of spun out vehicles, large trucks and smaller cars, along the road that didn't put chains in their tires as required,' Denise Yergenson, a Caltrans spokeswoman said. 'That blocked the road and it's hampering our ability to plow.'

"Impactful Winter Storm" Could Blast Northeast Sunday Through Monday

by Tyler Durden
Fri, 11/29/2019 - 11:43

For most of the week, we've been reporting on the chaotic weather situation affecting tens of millions of Americans before and during the Thanksgiving holiday season.

As many readers know, the Thanksgiving holiday week is one of the most traveled times of the year, and this year, it was hellacious for many traveling across Northern California and Oregon as a "bomb cyclone" detonated earlier in the week. By midweek, Central and Midwest states have been slammed by a powerful winter storm, that could end up in the Northeast by Sunday.

The latest developments of winter weather activity are from Arizona, Colorado, and Utah, where more than a foot of snow is expected to fall by late day. The winter storm is expected to move across the upper Midwest by late Friday.

A mix of wintery precipitation could turn into heavy snow for parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan by Friday evening.

Ed Vallee, head meteorologist at Empire Weather, said the next significant weather development could be a winter storm that moves across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Sunday.

"An impactful winter storm will spread a myriad of precipitation types into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Sunday into Monday. Snow will be the dominant precipitation type in central New England where 6 or more inches of snow is possible. Closer to the major cities, snow will quickly change to a mix of precipitation Sunday afternoon and perhaps rain Sunday night, before transitioning back to snow possibly on Monday. There remains some uncertainty as to exactly where this storm will track, so the public is urged to frequently monitor forecasts into the weekend," Vallee said.

New York City and other major Mid-Atlantic metros could see a wintry mix of precipitation on Sunday through Monday.

Doug, it's 50 degrees and clear here in the DC area. Perhaps you should move east; although we may get a wintry mix tonight and Sunday night. It's beautiful here right now.

We are now in a typical Eastern Oregon/Washington weather pattern here in the People's Republic and the Marxist Republic of Multnomah County, Alfa man it is BRIGHT SUNSHINE, 35 farenheit, with lows of 25 F and some wind howling down the Columbia Gorge that drops the wind chill down, down, down, down, down!!!!!

The liberals have opened the warming shelters to the so called homeless, and the Portland Fire Dept just doused a homeless camp fire under a freeway bridge, and I saw two separate piles of feces, dog or human, during my walk to get my Peets Coffee, which is about par for course.

so how is the Marxist scum of Virginia's governor doing? I visited Jefferson's Farm at Monticello back in 1964 when I was ten. I understand the actual government buildings are still in use in Virginia. I find the idea of this gun grabbing, black faced painted TRAITOR standing at the same podium Patrick Henry did disgusting.

Stay warm, man! It's gorgeous here but think we may get some white stuff before the weekend's over. Of course I have to travel Monday, oh joy.

Governor Blackface is still gloating over his communist wins in the last election. There are a number of counties already declared 2nd amendment sanctuaries in the state, with more coming every day. The Communists are not popular with the rank and file population here; just the pussy "progressives" in the urban areas. Frankly I'd like to see open season on liberals declared, with no bag limit. Their time in office may be short lived. And we have Gov. Blackface, don't forget Lt. Governor rapist ******. We have some real trash in Richmond these days.
Monticello is a beautiful plantation-it still attracts a number of visitors and is doing pretty well. Mount Vernon, George Washington's house is about a mile from us; that place is jammed today as normal.
Don't know if you ever got to see the Confederate white house-it's nicer than the one in DC. Elaborate woodworking, beautiful carpet and tapestry work.

Folks there is more coming in the next week, and the weather models are showing more than one storm in the works. This winter for many will turn out to be the snowiest winters in a long time.
