Trail Mix Recipe needed

Good morning all!! I need a "trail mix" type recipe - easy nibbles that we can assemble and use at a fund raiser. I have tried some pre-packaged ones and the flavor was terrible - like the candy pieces were old & not of good quality.
Thanks in advance!

I got this recipe for Granola from "Good Eats" with Alton Brown

The recipe is basically this:

Preheat oven to 250 degrees

In a large bowl mix:
3 c rolled oats
1 c sweetened coconut
1 c unsalted peanuts
1 c slivered almonds

Mix in a small bowl:
1/4c + 2T dark brown sugar
1/4c + 2T maple syrup (the REAL stuff)
1/4c oil

optional:
1/4t salt (I sometimes will just use salted nuts)
raisins
really - you can add just about anything; however candies would be best added after cooking.

Mix all ingredients together and spead out on a baking pan. Bake for 1 1/2 hours, stirring after every 15 minutes.

This stuff is great....my family loves it. However, you will have to add more sugar and syrup to make it "clump" together. We generally add it to yougurt or ice cream. I think it makes a great cereal as well.

Tasty Temptation Recipe

Ingredients:
4 cups small pretzel twists
2 cups roasted cocktail peanuts
2 cups fresh Sun-Maid raisins
4 cups Cheerios cereal
An entire large bag of M&M's

Directions:
Dump all the ingredients into a giant bowl and mix together with clean hands... the kids will love helping out with this too.

Divide trail mix into small plastic bags or store in airtight containers.

Note:
You can add mini-marshmallows but only if served immediately.

Makes about 20 servings or more.

Here is another Trail Mix recipe:

Equal measurements of each item or use up what ever you have.

* cheerios
* dried fruit (banana chips, pineapple,etc.)
* peanuts (salted or unsalted)
* coconut
* chocolate chips
* chex cereal
* small pretzels
* raisins

That is basically it. If there is an item in there that you or your family doesn't like, just omit it! :)

There are lots of recipes for this stuff on backpacking pages. You might have better luck if you search for GORP recipes. GORP is "good old raisins and peanuts" but hikers use it to refer to everything!

Some good combinations for trail mix:

walnuts, dates, coconut & chocolate M&Ms (I'd recommend M&Ms as chips are very messy, especially in the summer

almonds, dried cherries, coconut & choc. M&Ms

Here's a page of prizewinning GORP from Backpacker Magazine:
