Hello everyone, I‘ve been coming by and reading what your all up to but not posting. I’m really struggling with some things the past few weeks, mainly for the state of the world and our country and grief for my brother. DH and I both have been hit the past 2 months with losing family. If you have any extra prayers to send up, I’d appreciate them.

Prayers up for all.

Absolutely praying for you aviax. There have been many losses lately for my coworkers as well. I am so grateful our Father hears our prayers and sends peace.

Going to pick up the boys we hire about noon and get going on stuff. DH will have them work on fence and clean out the chicken shed and turkey pens. I will work on some baking, herbal stuff, and the front raised beds.

Prayers offered for you, @aviax2

Thank you for starting the thread, Kyrsyan - I didn't sleep well last night, had trouble waking up once I did get to sleep, and then barely made it to my class on time!

My class was for my concealed carry permit; I did fine - and am so glad that is over for another 5 years. I originally had a few other plans for things I thought I might get done once I got home, but the cold, wind, and rain while we were outside shooting our targets changed my mind. Instead, I'm going to go crawl under one of my heated blankets and place the half dozen hand warmers I had stuck here and there that didn't manage to go cold on me while I was out on the range in all those places that got c-c-c-c-cold!! I was wearing wool socks, wool sweater, fleece lined leggings, jeans, long sleeve turtleneck, fleece pullover, windbreaker, and little fleece cups over the ear protector muffs I was wearing.

Well, Hubby's already escaped to the shed - seems another motorcycle snuck in there last week when I wasn't looking, so I should have plenty of time to get in a short nap at least.

Take care all; stay warm out there!

Church had a pot luck today, lots of food. I only took about 1/2 of a serving spoon of a few things and two chicken legs, a cookie and a tiny square of something delicious with chockolate and strawberry. I've really been trying to cut back on my food intake to lose weight. I'm just about desperate to lose a good 40 pounds. That would put me at a decent weight with lots of clothes to wear.

DH has been asking me about Golo, which is advertised a lot. I looked it up, first reading a review by WSJ and it appears to be noting nefarious. The pills contain extracts or something, didn't seem like they were bad. One bottle for a month is 59 and changed. There is a discount if you order two bottles, which I did. DH paid for it. We also went to walmart to get a better scale, digital which is easier to read. He put it in the living room with a tablet to record weight. I still weighed what I did at the doctors office about 10 days ago.

I sure hope this works and I'll give it a good try, I've already been cutting way back anyway.

I haven't felt very good today. We had our Sunday morning home fellowship, and that did me in. My mouth really hurts, and I was only able to eat a few bites of the left over chicken rotel for supper tonight. That's all I've had to eat today. Just not hungry. I might get a bowl of ice cream, later. The cold really, really feels good on my gums. Fattening, yes, but I've got my diet on hold, until I am able to eat regular food again. 2 more days worth of antibiotics left to take.

Tomorrow is our planned shopping day, but that will depend on how I feel when I get up in the morning. I will hopefully feel up to going to Food Giant and TSC. All other shopping can wait for a better day.

Praying for you SB.

I've not felt well today, almost like I was feeling when I was taking that other antibiotic, I may end up not finishing the second one. I felt so good when the first one wore off and now I'm two days into the new one.

Are you taking a good probiotic? You NEED to treat that UTI! Most antibiotics have at least some mild side effects... the point being, as long as they are mild, you fight through them, because the alternative is an infection that continues to do damage, and develops antibiotic resistance as well.

You DO NOT want damaged kidneys if you don’t knock this out and it spreads upwards.

Do you take D-Mannose? I heard it was good for UTI's, so got a bottle just because. Last month I had some feelings like one was starting, which is weird because it's been decades. Anyway, each time I took a pill or two. If it *was* the start of a UTI, it worked because I've had no symptoms since; if not, I guess it didn't hurt me...LOL!

Last month when i was having trouble swallowing ENT told me to try very cold or very warm things to try to help the feeling of the food in mt throat. I could not do ice cream trying to watch blood sugar but i did semi freeze apple sauce.

Judy UTIs in elderly effect us differently than they did when we were 40-50 years younger. They can cause confusion and falling. My mother in law kept falling. She told us after she hit her head and was knocked out. Took her to the dr and all they found was a UTI. Once it was cleared up, she didn't fall anymore. She had no normal UTI symptoms. I pray you heal quickly.

Saturday we had 4 storms roll through with hail. Some of it was bigger than a quarter. I haven't seen much damage. We had our 2 better vehicles under cover. We got just over an inch of rain with it too. The rain we could use; the hail: not so much.

Yesterday was cooler so I was going to prune some dead wood out of the fruit trees. I intended to do just part of it. But I felt good enough that I kept going till it was done. Now I just have to haul the limbs to the burn pile. I will work on that this week. Today we are getting the grandkids so I won't get much done.

I ran my tiller some Saturday before the storms. It runs like a champ. It is time I can plant most of my garden. Okra and field peas can wait till around May first. I am trying to decide if I want to plant a little corn. I have been kicking around the idea to plant dent corn for corn meal.

Hope everyone who is not feeling well this week starts feeling better soon!

I went to bed early last evening, and once I got enough blankets layered on me to get warm I was out like a light! Feel pretty good this morning but won't be doing much outside - temps are in the low 30's, 24 mph wind out of the west/north west, and spitting rain; and a frost warning for tonight. Looks like we got frost last night too - the plants I'd left on the porch got frosted since I forgot to bring them in to the basement stairwell - guess the only thing on my mind after I got home was a hot bath and lots of blankets.

After getting chilled to my bones yesterday, I'm not real enthusiastic about doing much outside work today - especially since the temps are supposed to rise over the next few days. Not like can't find some to do inside anyway....

Plans for today:
Pool with the neighbor lady - exercise
Work in the upstairs pantry
Flip a coin to decide whether to make chili or beef vegetable soup for supper tonight

That ought to do me

Cary and I both take D-Mannose every day. He is prone to having a UTI without even knowing it, and I have Interstitial Cystitis. Since taking the D-Mannose, neither of us have had a flare up. Cary also takes 500mg of AZO cranberry extract in pill form every day, also.

Did some serious thinking and planning last week that caused me to move some money around, cash in a few things, and make some purchases. I bought some silver, spent $300 at Sams, sent in two Amazon orders (one dealing with home security), will have a Thrive order to put in tomorrow with the sale, and a few other things. Felt right taking care of those things. Filled in a couple of low spots.

Weather is a lot cooler today (this is Florida, so I am very thankful) so I will probably spend part of the afternoon cutting up a few big branches that dropped in the last storm and hopefully working on the huge pile of stuff in the den which needs to be put away or be better organized. Always an ongoing project!

Thanks, do you take one or two of the D-Mannose? I have cranberry capsules. I looked at the AZO awhile back, but it seemed expensive on top of everything else I take.

Well, it's not going to be chili or veggie soup for supper tonight after all - but it is going to be soup! The neighbor lady and I stopped by the small grocery store in our nearest town on our way home from the pool to pick up a couple of things, and decided to get a carry out lunch - one of the specials was a giant baked potato with your choice of toppings. I requested sour cream, bacon, cheese and green onions on mine, but since I knew there was no way I could eat that much, I cut it in half once I got home. I'll use the half that's left to make a small pot of potato soup, and will fix grilled ham and cheese sandwiches to go with. I also picked up a brownie mix while I was at the store - now I just need to find my recipe for making drop cookies from brownie mix....

It will be a while - I'm not the one driving so I go where the truck goes - and stops are being added. It should be on the net. What I can recall is mix, oil, and egg/s. Mix well. Scoop into small balls, roll in powdered sugar, bake.

Anyone else have the recipe, please join in :)

I managed to get our shopping done today. We just got home and put everything away. I just replaced a few items, but I bought more ground beef to can. Stopped in at the Wine Shop, TSC, and on to the nursery for more tomato and pepper plants to go with what we already have. 10 more tomatoes and 6 more bell peppers. They didn't have any banana pepper plants that looked good to me, so I passed on those. Also, bought 2 flats of assorted marigolds and a hanging Boston fern. I need 2 more pots of ferns for the front porch and 4 banana pepper plants, and I'll be done. I'll check out Lowe's tomorrow while in big town for my doctor's appointment. Now, all we're waiting on is for the ground to dry out and warm enough to till. We're still having lows in the low 40's here.

We both have decided on the RAV 4 for our new vehicle. We're waiting for it to arrive on the car lot for us. It should be here in the next few days. We also decided to pay half in cash and the rest on monthly payments, because Cary doesn't want to let our credit score get any lower. He sees a high credit score as another insurance policy if it's needed for a big emergency to get a loan at the bank if we can't cover it in cash. No credit, no loan.

My mouth is healing more each day, but my jaw decided it wanted to swell up a bit this morning. I hated going to town looking like Cary had hit me, but oh well, LOL. Still only able to eat very soft foods.

You should look at Vitacost. Still a bit pricey but not as pricey.

I've never checked Vitacost. AZO has a whole line of urinary care products that we use, often. Test strips, pain relief for bladder spasms, etc. We've been using AZO products for several years.

Moldy, John Deere Girl and Renee thank you so much, that truly means a lot to me.

I‘m trying hard to get back into the swing of things even though I’m physically moving very slow. We took some pork roasts (about 25 lbs before cooking) out to thaw and I got them ready yesterday evening to go in the Nesco out in the garage and the small one in the oven to cook overnight. With some help from DH today all the meat has been gone through, fat and bone removed and many bags are vac packed and in the freezer for future quick meals. We left out enough for supper tonight but I’m kind of leaning more toward a leftover burger from yesterday!

DH has been working on the garden this past week, tilling, planting, etc. I miss being able to garden, especially planting time. Besides potatoes and onions that he planted awhile back, he’s planted a few different kinds of tomatoes, some sweet corn, bell peppers and I can’t remember what else. Also planned are green beans, more corn, zucchini and yellow squash, butternut squash, peas, okra, cucumber…I sure hope we have better luck this year, last year was so hot and dry we didn’t get much from the garden.

Many reasons why I use Vitacost, and now also Swanson. But for that it was ingredients issues and prices.

D-mannose in higher doses can be used as the antibiotic to treat UTI. IIRC, it was a full bottle across a week. 6000 mg doses. But I'd have to look it back up. I haven't used it for that in a while. I keep it on hand just in case.

Brownie Cookies (from Betty Crocker mix)
Preheat oven to 350*f

1 - 18.4 oz pkg BC Brownie mix (I bought Milk Chocolate flavor this time)
2 - eggs (I use 1 whole egg and 1 egg yolk)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Couple tablespoons of flour depending on how sticky the dough is (see below)

Beat the eggs with the vegetable oil, add brownie mix; then add in a bit more flour until the dough is cookie dough consistency and does not stick to your hands when you roll scoops of it in to a ball. Lightly grease the cookie sheet or use a pan liner. Flatten the balls of cookie dough about half way and place in on the cookie sheet. Bake at 350*F for 8-9 minutes - center may still be a bit sticky.

You can also roll the ball of dough in powdered sugar before baking; I usually do that as I like the way they look.

We called those 'liar's cookies'. You could see from the powdered sugar evidence if someone had been in the cookies!

Rough day at work. Not really any one bad thing, I just want to be done. With the new(ish) job, I'm not doing direct patient care and I feel like I am not following my calling. Just fussing, I guess. If I can't be of help, I'd just as soon be home. Just somewhat frustrated.

I did gain a pound this week (yay!!) and with the new tincture I'm using, I've gotten more movement in my jaw. I still can't eat a sandwich, but I can eat a piece of toast without squishing it.

Cary has never used D-Mannose to treat a UTI, but we use the whole line of urinary health products on a daily basis as a preventative. If he even suspects he's getting a UTI, we take no chance. He goes to his doctor for antibiotics. That's why we keep a good supply of test strips, so he can know for sure if he's getting one. Most of the time, he doesn't realize he has a UTI, until he goes septic. That's why we don't mess around with OTC meds if he gets or suspects one.

Got call from dealership the Rav4 we are interested in will arrive today or tomorrow. It is in our daughter's city so a 2 day trip to pick up.
My current Toyota is12 years old and going to grandchild.

My old brain is going to have to learn new technology. But the height to get in and out will be easier on my knees. And I like the added visibility too.

We're still waiting on the call from the dealership to let us know the truck hauler with our RAV 4 has arrived. I'm hoping it comes today, since we'll be in Big town for my doctor's appointment this afternoon, anyway. The salesman looked on his computer and told us the truck was on the road, but it might take a couple of days to get to the dealership.

A new vehicle is exciting. I've only had two new ones, but ex took over the first one. But the second one, my truck, he tried and failed.

While waiting on the Golo stuff to get here, I've been researching as much as possible. One minute I think it will be too hard but then I change my mind. I've developed some habits that I will have to get over. The food on the plan is excellent, nothing that is not natural. no chips, no cookies, nothing like that. Funny thing is I never ate those before DH. I never, ever, kept anything like that in the house. Most of the canned foods in my pantry will be fine and also from my freezers. I haven't eaten breakfast in years, but Golo requires three meals a day, I won't eat my first meal early though.

Since I'm waiting on the information I've decided to eat up some of the things that I won't be able to eat later, in moderation of course. I had 4 Nathan hot dogs in the freezer, so I fried two in coconut oil, along with a couple of pieces of tomato that has been in the freezer, a good hand full of frozen broccoli and then dropped an egg on the veggies. And a little salt, pink. It was tasty, although the hot dogs did taste strong, I won't miss eating them although I do like Nathans.

One thing I need to do is plan my meals and I'm not very good at that.

All in all I feel encouraged, if for some reason I don't lose weight at least I'll be eating healthy.

Not much else going on, there are many things I need to do in the house that I have let slide because I'm reading the golo stuff.

The weather is coolish, the sun is peaking out some but not much.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
Is there some kind of stomach virus going around right now???
I have felt pretty UCK for about the past 3 - 4 days, but thought it was just from unloading and storing all that animal feed. This morning I was feeding and watering the animals and got pretty violently ill!! My bowels let loose, then I vomited several times. I was so weak I had a lot of trouble getting up and back into the house. I was shaking all over. That was this morning, since then, I have just been laying down, but am having some chills and still feeling nauseous. Have NO desire to eat ANYTHING, but. Have been steadily sipping Gator Aid that I keep on hand.

Anyone else having or hearing about this type of illness??? I know this went around last Spring, but mostly hearing about sinus/allergy issues this year???!!!

Thank you for letting me know!!
It just hit so "all at once!!" Hope it goes away soon!!
My youngest grandson got sick like that Easter Sunday and the oldest grandson got sick with it the next day. They got over it in about 2 days but they get over things quicker than us slightly older gals. Prayers up for you.
