Went out to the storage area to get some of the bigger ball jars with the metal catches. I like the new teas enough that making a quart at a time will be okay.

I also found two of the spice top jars that I want to use for keeping our most commonly used spice mixes tucked on the stovetop. I'm tired of melted deformed plastic bottles.

And after looking through the bags... there's going to be a purge. I know that as soon as I do it, I will find a need for some of them. But I'm tired of storing them.

All the canning jars, of any type, will be kept. But the random, non amber, glass stuff is going to go. There are limits to how long I'll keep something on the "in case" I'll need it.

Have the heat pack on because I went put into the unheated garage to cut some more things. I got one more nightshirt cut. And then I took the remainder of that fabric piece and made sure each end waa nice and clean cut. It's a lycra and I'll use the last piece to make another compression "sheet" for son's bed.

Son gave up the nightshirt for cleaning but has made it clear that he wants it back

I'm just back to working on the list. I'm hoping to finish one nighshirt this weekend. And get at least one more cut. Maybe two. There's a possibility for a third but it might be a really tight fit for the pattern. So I'll test that on a day where that's all I'm focused on. Because I don't want to get partway through amd discover there's not enough fabric.

The food storage trays for friend arrive in a week and a half. Then I'll start making easy heat meals to tuck in his freezer. And probably grab some of the family pck meals from Sam's Club and break them down for him.

It was an ordeal trying to eat supper, tonight. I had to mash everything up, and still could hardly open my mouth to eat. It hurts so bad to move my jaws, not to mention all the teeth. I couldn't eat the chicken at all, even though, it was tender. So, I had a plate of steamed broccoli and rice with cheese sauce and green lima beans all squished up in my plate. Cary got my piece of chicken breast and dinner roll.

I managed to get a lot done as far as housework, today. Tomorrow, I have plans to do more, and Sunday, I'll do a bit of cooking, so Cary will have something quick for him to fix all next week that he can just heat up.

Even though it's early, I'm taking something for pain, and I'm going to lay down.

Went to daughter's town to drop off another tub of Buddy's clothing, but they were closed. Maybe I need to volunteer??

So then I stopped by daughter's to see if any of the boys wanted to hang out with Grandma today - but one had a birthday party/sleepover to go to this afternoon; and one had friends coming over. Now you might think I left the house sad and lonely (poor poor Grandma  ) but in came the granddog, carrying his leash/collar, jumping enthusiastically around me in circles. So he and I took a lovely 3 mile walk down by the nearby lake; then went through McDonalds to get him a Pup-Cup of ice cream. I got back and had to take younger grandson out to pick up gifts for the party; and when I got back from that, the middle one gave me a "Hi Gramma" and a shoulder bump. Aren't those connections wonderful??

It's turned off chilly and grey as the day has progressed, so I started a crock pot of chicken/broth with the idea of making some Gumbo - got smoked sausage, chicken and shrimp and a box of Zatarain's mix to go along with the rest of the fixin's. This is Hubby's weekend to work, so I'm thinking about snuggling up under my warm blanket and seeing if I can get myself interested in the new book that came a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking that there is a good possibility that a nap may occur somewhere along the line. After everything that has happened the past few months, I think I'm just going to take today to count up all those blessings I have; and be grateful for them.

I'm sure you don't need me reminding you of this, but some of that old glass (depending on what you have) is valuable. My aunt caused another epic family battle when she threw ALL of my grandma's lovely stuff away.
On the other hand, when the nasty aunt on the other side of the family threw away all those Lionel train engines, that were worth on average, $900 apiece, Mom and I had drinks and toasted her stupidity.

Who throws away Lionel trains? That's insane!

Not that old. I'm keeping those pieces. These are glass jars from stuff I've purchased over the years. Mostly either ones that will take a canning lid or are unique shapes.

In the back corner or the garage, currently buried, are some really old glass. Stuff from old glass juice and peanut butter and whatever. If I'm lucky I'll get back there this year and see if any of that has any value.

Agreed.

It's ice season here. We got rain this week and it washes the snow off of the ice in the driveway, then the temp dropped and it froze smooth as glass, and then we got a few inches of powder on it to give you a false sense of security. My son and I both fell on our asses when going out to hook up the plow to the quad after the snow. I order yaktrax for everybody, they should be here Monday or Tuesday. Son and I have been throwing down salt and sawdust for now which helps a lot.

Green beans were on sale so we picked up 4 cans of the french cut to top back up, also got 6 cans of sliced black olives on sale to top those up. That takes my "watch for sales" list down to pizza sauce, nacho cheese, lima beans, and field peas & snaps.

I guess life is pretty good when that's all you have to write about.

We just got back from town. We made it before any storms hit, but we're under a tornado watch until 7pm. While in town, the girl that cut Cary's hair said that schools in the area had turned out because of the tornado threat, today. That doesn't happen very often.

I got all of my groceries, but did buy a few things extra like more soup, and a gallon of vanilla ice cream. I have plenty of different flavors of syrup for ice cream in storage. The eggs were only $3.06/doz large. I bought extra. I also bought extra yogurt, since I'm taking the Z pack. My dentist didn't want me to have any more Tylenol or Aleve. I told him I had been eating them like candy for the pain. He told me to get Motrin, so I bought a big bottle of those. I got all my scripts filled, too. I finished putting everything away, had a tub of yogurt, and took the first antibiotic, and the Motrin. I'm in a bit of pain.
If you can any jams or jellies next time you do a run cut down on the pectin so that it comes out a bit runny. We do that for ice cream toppings, and because I prefer stuff like that instead of syrup on my waffles.

I don't make jelly anymore, but my mom loves to still make it. When she has a batch that doesn't quite thicken enough, she saves it to use on her waffles! It's like a thick syrup.
