Cary still has a lot to do computer wise, today, on both computers. Other than that, and me doing laundry, that's it for today. We are both extremely tired. Just worn out mentally and physically. I just have plans for leftovers for supper tonight. We didn't eat much of what I fixed last night.

Everyone, have a safe and blessed week!

The sun is shinning and gonna be in the 50's. It got down to 65 next to my chair last night, I was toasty warm. I think 65 is when the furnace kicks on for a few minutes. DH has his little heater in the bedroom to keep his temps around 80.

We've got church this morning and then lunch maybe at the roadkill cafe. I need to run a load of clothes. I want to get a couple of things at dollar tree.

Have a blessed and safe day.

The chicken swap was a bust. It was just too cold out. Not many people stopped by. But it was nice to visit some other farmers. We will go back on a warmer day. We had to go to the pharmacy anyway yesterday and they are only open till noon. So it wasn't a wasted trip.

We had friends over for dinner last night. I made chicken pot pie, salad, and cherry pie for dessert. I used my home canned chicken and broth, our potatoes, and cherries from our tree that I canned. We had a good visit. I really enjoyed it. It has been awhile since I felt like having people over. I just didn't have the energy for it. But I have had a very good week and feel so much better.

The change I made was rubbing castor oil on my neck were my thyroid is located. I also put it in my belly button. I do this at night before bed. The first night I slept so much better and of course felt better the next day. Hubby asked if it might be plesbo effect, but I don't know if it really works or if it is all in my head, but either way I am feeling really good. I still have some water retention that I am battling. But that goes with the thyroid issues. Hopefully as my thyroid gets better, so will the fluid issue. I bought the castor oil because I read putting it on skin tags would remove them. I does that too. You just have to reapply daily till it is gone.

Hubby is starting cinnamon pills to see if it will help his blood pressure. It's still getting high even on more than one prescription. I may add in Cayenne after he has been taking the cinnamon for a week. We have to see how he reacts to it.

I started some cabbage seeds. The tomatoes and peppers will be started in another week or so. I plan to till today unless Hubby needs me to help him. We worked doing some maintenance on one of the trucks late last week and his back is letting him know that it was not happy. He also may have another kidney stone on the way out.

Have a great week everyone and may everyday be a blessed one.

Coffee has been consumed.

I am still on the winning side of the flu I have been battling and actually am feeling better than I was (Thursday night was the worst of it). I teach and 12 of my 19 have been sick the past week or so. I think of those, 8 were confirmed with flu. One had covid/flu combined. The other class I teach had the tummy bug going around. So many germs everywhere. I have stayed current with my vitamins and supplements and swear that has what has kept me going. I stay well hydrated and also try to get in the sunshine daily. I also get my sleep in (at least 8 hours a night). Others are dropping like rocks.

Prep wise this week, we will be using up some items in the freezer for meals. I want to get some walks in daily.
Laundry and dishes are done. I should run the vacuum today but am unsure that will happen.
Started a great book last night and will get lost in that later.

Hope you all have a blessed week. :rs:

Awake and alive. Kicking is still a bit of a struggle. I woke up, took care of son, went back to bed. Finally got up about two hours ago.

One load of laundry is on. Lunch is one the stove. Body has resolved another issue. The only issue left, that I can see, is the mystery bruise that is neither growing nor healing. And the continual tired which I figured out is partly because my BP is going through the roof any time I move around.

I'm headed for caffeine. And then a shopping trip in the freezers. Thursday is the doctor follow up. And I'm going to grab some things from stores while I'm in the city. I'm debating an online order from Lowes because I know I need to go in. But I think I'll do it because it will minimize what I need to do in the store. And energy is still precious.

I'm getting bored and frustrated. There are only so many games of Scrabble, Solitaire, and Backgammon that I can play. But I can't do the physical stuff yet. And I really don't want to go do more work.

I made about a dozen small waffles (and froze most of them). I'll reheat them in the toaster and put a slice of Canadian bacon and a slice of cheese on top. That uses up the mix so it doesn't go to waste.

I'm not making that many waffles/pancakes/biscuits right now. I've been trying to cut back a bit on carbs.

It's sunny and in the upper 30s. I'm headed out in a few minutes for my walk. The trail is mostly clear (gotta love blacktop) but I'll still have to watch for icy patches, so I'm wearing my winter hiking boots. I'm also taking soup (in a thermos) and a tuna sandwich (last of the protein bread that was in the freezer). That's "lunch out," LOL.

Then I'll go for a quick Sunday drive. I'm keeping an eye on a few things, including some new commercial construction. There's no sign (yet) but maybe I'll stop in this week when the workers are there and ask what is being built.

Having to really kick my self to get motivated. We have an 'issue' coming up this week and I am struggling over it. I know that God is in control, and when I worry I start to pray. But there is still that .... not really fear, but anxiety over the outcome. It should be done by Friday. Should. Friday is a long way away.

I would greatly appreciate prayers for a good outcome and that God's will is done. This is hitting me so hard spiritually, probably because it involves a family member more than me. I think it would be - OK, I KNOW it would be easier for me if it was me instead of them. The whole situation has made for some uncomfortable but necessary growth in a lot of ways.

I totally understand. Our situations might be different, but the anxiety and worry are still the same. And, yes, there's been some uncomfortable growth in some areas for us as well.

You have my prayers.

SB, your situation, and the knowledge of it, may protect more people than you realize. I added extra security measures to my system. Even though it was an absolute pain to whitelist my work sites.

And a few people warned/reminded.

I am surprised that you are not allowed to talk about it but I hope the restrictions help get your funds returned.

Son threw a curveball my way. He decided that he needed a haircut. To be honest, he did. But haircuts are hard for him, even when he's willing. We were almost done when he let me know that he wanted the beard done. He's happy. I'm wiped out. But he is definitely happy.

After church today we went to burger king. And after that we went to Dollar Tree. I just wanted to get a couple of thing, actually 3. We'd eaten chili a couple of times this past month so I wanted to replace the cans of chili, and I'd let my bbq sauce supple get low so I'm trying to build that back up. The cheap stuff at wm is 1.84 and for the same brand at DT its still 1.25. I also got a couple of cans of Campbells pork and beans and a couple cans of campbells chicken gracy. WM has been out of their brand of chicken gravy for awhile, and the DT was cheaper on the campbells. So my replinishing went well.

I skipped caffeine today so my body can get back in cycle. No more 2am bedtimes.

Son crashed early and wanted kisses and hugs.

I needed one thing from Sam's Club, laundry detergent. I ended up getting OxyClean since it was on sale. And a car emergency tool. It's a jump start/compressor/etc etc. I've wanted/needed one for a while and they had a nice one on sale.

I got the "shopping trip" done so the inside fridge is restocked for the week. And while I was out there, I found the can of stain I originally used in the kitchen. I'm watching to replace one of my storage carts with a dresser style. And if needed, I want the stain to match. And I'm watching for something to use for a TV stand, so I'm going to get some red oak stain for that.

Anyways, off to lala land. I hope everyone has a peaceful night.

Birchbenders has a good keto mix, and frozen waffles. Olay, I think they're good but I'm also very used to non wheat flours.

It's a new day and a new week. Leaving what lies behind and trying to start over with what we are still blessed to have. We know that God is in control of all things, but those growing pains still hurt.

We get both of our SS checks Wednesday, so we won't be broke for much longer. Things have really had to tighten up for us on our spending. I wasn't able to do my mid-month grocery shopping this time, but we are still in good shape. I bought a good bit extra at the first of the month. I feel that God was prompting me to do that, because He knew what was coming. If it's His will, I'll be able to do a big shopping day again the first of next month which will get us back on tract. Cary gets his checks from his retirement funds on the first which will be a big help, too.

We still have a little cash money left from closing out our old checking account, and that will be to pay for my dental visit, tomorrow. Cary's doctor visit is covered, Wednesday, through Medicare.

It sure feels like we're starting over from scratch. In a way, we are.

Heard a popping sound while cooking out in the garage yesterday. (Have a backup stove out there that I like cooking on because there are no odors or mess in house.) Looked around and found a couple of live mice trying to jump out of a 5 gallon bucket. :gaah: dispatched the mice and will spend today cleaning and installing extermination tools. We don't do catch and release.

I clean the stove after use and do not leave food in garage. But we had super cold temps for 3 nights running and I can see daylight around the garage doors. Impossible to make it impenetrable but I can and will make it a hostile environment. Thank God it is going to be warmer today so won't freeze while doing so.

Spent part of weekend going thru paperwork stored in garage. Some went back to 70's. Now have 4 tubs of paperwork to burn. Getting ready to burn brush pile so will probably put it in that fire instead of spending hours feeding it to burn barrel.

Big stack of stuff for local auction house and trailer half full of scrap. Two goals for this week are to take care of both. Just getting that stuff out of garage will be big step in the emptying process. The more I get rid of stuff the easier it becomes.

in regard to the garage door "gaps" - what makes a good temp guard for closing the bottom up - are metal building studs - "U" shaped and various lengths - a little pain to move them for in & out traffic - you could attach them for the winter if you wanted to go that direction ......

Sunny here, too, and 39 degrees. Almost of the snow that fell is gone. Just tiny patches of the ice left. The trail was just wet this morning when I took my walk.

I also did a quick check of my preps and started a load of dishes. I did laundry yesterday. I need to top off gas on my way to work, and then I'm pretty much ready for the week. I'm trying to stay on top of stuff in case anything
major happens. If not, at least I'm somewhat organized.

We are back from picking up commodities and a fairly quick trip to walmart.

Not much in commodities, a few canned foods, a big package of seasoned french fries, a couple of those containers with cottage cheese and a fruit. The fries will go to my yound friend along with some of the canned food.

I had some things on my wm list that were really for next month so I skipped them. The two most expensive items were the over the shower head rack, which I need in the shower stall. And a two pack of Lousianne refined coconut oil that I use for cooking oil. I have a supply but when I open the two pack I replace it. Two years ago it was 9.97 now its 15.47. But I would never use any kind of vegetable oil so its worth the price. I have better brands for when I decide to ingest a spoon of it, which I do.

I got anything that needs to go in the fridg or freezer put away. Just need to get the cans dated and put away.

Stopped into Walgreens to get distilled water and laundry detergent. I use the Arm & Hammer and it was on sale for $1.99. However, the size of the bottle has dropped from 36.5 oz to 28 oz. Still supposed to do the same number of loads, but I have my doubts. The new bottles are so little!!

Then to Publix where I bought only stuff that was on BOGO-soup, tortillas, honey, bisquick, garlic bread, cooking spray. Felt like it was a good trip. Don't really need anything, just staying on top of things.

As I was walking around wm yesterday I just was not tempted to buy anything other than some things on my list. Therefore I didn't spend much. I just don't need anything. Although I was not able to squeeze out another $20 this month for my cash stash. I spent that at the DT the other day, when I was replacing some things I had used.

The glorious sun is shinning again today, and its supposed to get up to 72.

As much as I dread it I need to get in the kitchen this morning. I could blame my issue with doing dishes on my mother, but that would not be taking responsibility for my own actions. When I was little I just could not understand why she couldn't wash her own darn dishes.

That's why I keep the dishwasher maintained. I have done dishes by hand off and on all of my life, but at this time, I can afford to run a dishwasher, so I am. I know that may not always be the case, so I remain thankful.

Sunny and 46 F at the moment. I'm hearing upper 50s later today. Maybe lunch out on the patio! My fingers are crossed.

I want to soak up lots of that sunshine: my face and arms are as white as Casper the Friendly Ghost.

I'll have a sort of big grocery bill when we go the first of the month (Still trying to buy for the whole month). But, Cary and I have talked about it, and we're not going to be doing any more restocking in the pantry or freezers for a while. I have a fully stocked pantry, plus two very full freezers, and we'll be eating out of all of that more than we normally do. This way, most of our grocery budget money and the rest of it will be going into our "in home" emergency fund, except what we need to pay our monthly bills. No longer will the bank hold our money over and above our monthly bills. That emergency fund and PM's we've kept is sure saving our butts right now, or we would be completely broke. It pays to diversify. We will be practicing some serious discipline financially for the foreseeable future.

We'll be leaving in a little while for my dental appointment. I'll be drugged, so if I get a chance, once the drugs wear off, I'll be back late this afternoon. My appointment is just for a small filling. While I'm being worked on, Cary needs to take one of my king size quilts to the dry cleaners for a good cleaning. My washing machine is too small to handle it.

I've never had a dishwasher. When me and my sister were growing up, it was our job to do the dishes, once we were old enough. Mom did all of the cooking, and it was our job to clean up afterwards. I would love to have one, but my kitchen isn't big enough for one. Cary helps me wash the supper dishes, but I do all the rest if dishes need to be washed. I don't like leaving dirty dishes in the sink. It attracts ants and other nasties.

I think that is a wise decision to not replenish for a bit.
I am trying to eat down some of our freezer meats before restocking for summer months. More hamburgers and hot dogs and fewer roasts soups etc. I like the seasonal change. I thought I would be done with that by end of month. But it will continue a bit into March.
We will be in city and do Costco run while there. These days we only seem to get to Costco quarterly or less. So they are big hauls! Also want to go by Natural Grocers and/ or Sprouts. Trying to buy more organic and much less processes foods. Not a fan of bio engineered foods.

I have a dishwasher....love it ...I rinse the dishes well right after use...very quick to do when food hasn't dried on them..
.. with just the two of us I only need to run it every 3-5 days...I don't put dishes with stuck on food in mine...like the commercials on tv.....that gives me visions of repair bills..plus uck..all that old food sitting in there...
I have had a number of times in life when I had to wash them by hand... would rather really never go back to doing that...plus the dishdrainer taking all that counter space

I just want to remind ya'll that Cary has a new doctor's appointment early tomorrow morning. This will be his first visit with a Nephrologist to check if he actually has kidney disease or not. I know it might seem selfish on my part, and maybe it is, but would you all pray that he gets a great report. I just don't think we can handle any more bad news right now.

We have to stop in at our bank headquarters for security purposes after his doctor visit. Maybe, we'll get good news there, too.

I inherited a portable dishwasher from my step-father's 1940s home. It was on wheels, and I set it up so it drained into the sink while in use. After that, I wheeled it back over to the corner. That's how I was able to have a dishwasher in my trailer without having to both remodel part of the kitchen and hire a plumber. I still did a lot of dishes by hand, but I had a lot of company in those days, and having a dishwasher really helped.

Since BE started that scam thread on "main", I made a comment in that thread about our scam being pretty much the same scam mentioned in her OP with a few changes. Names and institutions were changed, and Cary didn't have to put money in a shoe box, but almost everything else was the same. No threats involved, either, other than losing our money if he didn't do exactly what the man at our bank told him to do. Of course, the man at our bank was one of the scammers. Cary was instructed to open a bitcoin account to hold our money, until it was safe to put our money back into a new savings account. Cary had no way of knowing that the scammer was able to hack directly into the new bitcoin account as soon as he opened. Once Cary deposited the money into it, it was stolen. Bye-bye all gone. Cary was told that the next day, he could transfer our money out of bitcoin back into our new savings account. But it was just gone. Since it was Cary who withdrew our savings and placed it in bitcoin, himself, the bank nor the FBI could do anything about it. Once it left the bitcoin account, there was no way to prove Cary hadn't withdrawn it himself and just claiming it was fraud. If I've still left out any details it's only because I haven't thought about them, yet.

In our case, Cary was dealing with Microsoft personnel and our banking institution. Cary isn't ignorant, stupid, and for sure doesn't have shit for brains. He was an accountant for several years with his degrees in accounting and pre-law and realizes there were red flags hitting him in the face in hindsight. The scam was going so fast and fluid that he didn't realize them in time to stop it.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
Hello everyone!!!
My depression has lifted a good bit and I thank ALL of you for your prayers.
Summerthyme had mentioned that I consider antidepressants..... I have been on maximum doses for about 30 years. They help a bit. I am also severely OCD, and that is what it helps with most. I have two bits of news, which have helped me feel better.......my Niece appears to be coming around and realizing that they need to get some preps if only because of inflation!!!! Hallelujah!!!! They also want me to advise them on creating a HUGE garden!!! This is scary, because they are considering me an "expert" because I have been extremely successful growing huge amounts of food in MISSOURI. The issue is, this is FLORIDA, with a different climate and NO established garden plot and basically SAND in the yard. This is causing me to feel pressured to do well..... difficult in ANY new environment!!

The second factor is....... I have HOPE again!!! This week, I had an iridology exam done:

What Is Iridology (Iridodiagnosis)?

The fellow I saw has been performing these exams for over 40 years, and his daughter is now doing these exams as well. They both have PhDs in NUTRITION and several other areas. He produced results indicating EVERY SINGLE ISSUE in my body!!!
He had NO way of knowing ANY of this information!!!

He has made a number of recommendations on supplements and in my eating habits. I am hoping and PRAYING that these recommendations will help my physical condition!!!
He even told me things about how I think and what I could change as far as thought processes that would positively effect my physical body. This is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!

There is NO WAY he could have known these things ..... I have only been in town for 3 months, the only thing he may have been able to know is that I have back problems.......but he identified MANY MANY issues that I had an awareness of, but had no knowledge of how to "fix" these things!!!!

This has given me a great degree of HOPE!!! My Niece and her husband have taken the supplements he recommended for them for the past several years and have had significant success in healing, or at least improving their health!!!!!

I am SO EXCITED!!! There is a POSSIBILITY that my pain can be reduced and I might be able to improve my physical situation!!!

Again THANK YOU, TO ALL OF YOU, FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!! I believe your prayers have brought me to this point!!!

I am actually HAPPY for the first time in several YEARS!!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!!

IOUJC, that sounds like good things. Since you don't know FL soils, it's time to research. IIRC, the biggest problem is sand not retaining nutrients. IIRC, David the Good used to grow things in that soil type. And I'm sure there are other gardeners that can help you with that. Good luck!

IOUJC, my DH has had problems with gardening in the sand here in Louisiana, he was a very profecient gardener in Illinois. Raised all kinds of things and here not much.

Its overcast today and in the low 70's. Still working in the kitchen, but its getting better. I have two loads of clothes that need to be washed.

Wednesday night church has been cancelled due to a death in the community and many want to go to the wake tonight. The prayer meeting crew has gotten smaller. I do the bulletin for Sundays on Wednesday evenings, so they won't have a bulletin this coming Sunday. And no, I'm not going to do it at another time because the church is located in an isolated area and I'm not going there alone.
