Bad news. FR is down hard. John is on his way to the data center to fix it. Will be down several hours. Hopefully, we'll be back up this morning.

Didn't notice. I've been a member of Free Republic since 2001. Used to be a daily stop for me, but now it's just once in a blue moon. Not the same as it used to be.

I believe they've been down for about a day now (since sometime Monday evening?).

As others mentioned, I believe that they are working on the server.

If you're interested, I found a backup board for them.

It's not as good as FR, but it does provide information on the status of the board as to whether they are up or down

I play 'Homefront' multiplayer a lot, and people get kicked out of session when their server ping gets too long. Last night, the pings just kept getting higher and higher... I think someone is jacking around with the 'net in general...
