Has No Life - Lives on TB
I live next to a National park but way out in the boonies. No problem, right? Wrong! Several times a day tours buses stop at our local grocery store and McDonalds and drop off dozens of Asian tourists. These people were in Asia just HOURS ago! Think about that!

At least you don't have tours to the BAT CAVES?! Our tourists come from all over.

The important issue isn't whether this corona virus is that deadly. The issue becomes important when it drastically affects the health care systems due to surge. There has always been a delicate balance between the number of sick patients and the number of health care workers/beds/meds/equipment to treat. Any disturbance in the force that can prevent truly sick people with other illnesses from obtaining the healthcare they need due to overcrowding, lack of meds, ventilators, and health care workers to treat due to a rapidly spreading virus such as SARS, MERS, or whatever this thing is finally referred to as is really the main factor that one needs to be concerned about.

Are you sure about that?
leads one to believe that the virus was built to target Asians."

I had wondered that, since some people get it and recover somewhat without much incident, and some just go boneless. The ones we've seen drop in the street have all been Asian, as far as I can tell.

I have a request for info from any members in proximity to Aspen, Vail, Steamboat Springs, etc.....take a look at the airports next time you drive by. Immediately after Fukushima went sideways, the small airports were bursting at the seams with private jets in both Aspen and Vail. I used to shop at the Costco next to Eagle/Vail every pay day for years..the volume was very unusual and noticeable. Also, it was the muddy season...nobody vacations or holds big events in mountain ski towns in the muddy season.

That will be a good indicator for the seriousness of this one in the next week or so.

So that area is "their" bug out area....hummm....

25 Deaths 830 Confirmed 1072 Suspect nCoV In China Note that the China NationalHealth Commission states 34 PATIENTS HAVE BEEN CURED AND DISCHARED - CFR is about 45%

How does one proactively "cure" this virus, I wonder?

I realize it's a typo, but the answer to your question of a cure is fire. Dischared?

I fear we are headed in that direction.

CORONAVIRUS incubation period is TWO WEEKS, say senators leaving closed door Trump admin briefing They say it’s an airborne virus that CAN remain on objects
Incubation period has a meaning. It is the time from exposure to onset of illness.
For this virus, that number is two weeks (although I have heard "unofficial" report of 10 days.
Equally important is the viral shedding pattern which is the time that the virus is contagious.
For SARS, the viral shedding pattern peaks at 6 days after onset of illness.
This viral shedding pattern has not been identified yet.

Even in Colombia, media outlets are paying very close attention to the #WuhanCoronavirus. Here's my 10 minute interview with one of the biggest local radio stations, @WRadioColombia . #WuhanOutbreak #WuhanLockDown
It is being reported in the Venezuelan media too, nothing I've seen that we don't already know but obviously even that government is taking this seriously.

_______________
If they were interested in halting the spread we would have already seen:
1. time from contact to illness - incubation period?
2. time from contact to ability to pass virus to another person.
3. how spread - human to human contact is pretty vague
4. run time of illness
5. symptoms
6. treatment - nyquil? pepto bismol? robitussin? continuous sustained sex?
7. what to do with the bodies?

So far, the only treatment is watching the news and worry.
Except that... they *don't know* the answer to most of those. NEW virus... it's going to take a bit before answers to your questions are slowly revealed. Granted, it would be a heck of a lot better if it wasn't the Chinese who must reveal those answers...

I'm still coughing, not coughing up a lung like I was but I wonder....

would suck to have a double whammy, the regular flu is still going around, I haven't gotten that yet.

Pretty sure I had just a typical cold as it started with sinus then worked into lungs, this time it hit my lungs pretty good.
If I was hit with this new "kung flu" while fighting off a regular flu or head cold it could be a deadly double whammy 1-2 combo.
