The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18.

That’s the president’s lowest rating since mid-December. It remains to be seen whether this is merely the result of statistical noise or a change in perceptions of President Obama. For most of 2010, more than 40% of voters voiced Strong Disapproval of the president. However, following his December agreement with Senate Republicans to extend the Bush tax cuts, the level of Strong Disapproval had declined.

Thirty-seven percent (37%) of voters now think a group of people selected at random from the phone book could do a better job than the current Congress. Only 41% disagree.

Sixty-seven percent (67%) say that if a state believes the federal government is not enforcing immigration laws, the state should have the right to do so

Fifty-five percent (55%) think that our allies should follow the U.S. lead more often. Only 12% hold the opposite view and think the U.S. needs to do more following.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18.

Yesterday and today mark the president’s lowest ratings since mid-December. It remains to be seen whether this is merely the result of statistical noise or a change in perceptions of President Obama. For most of 2010, more than 40% of voters voiced Strong Disapproval of the president. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 21% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20.

That’s the lowest level of Strong Approval yet recorded for President Obama and the lowest Approval Index rating since November.

Republicans have a nine-point advantage over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

For the past two years, optimism about the overall economy has been higher than optimism about personal finances. Prior to March 2009, however, the reverse was true. Currently, just 24% believe their own personal finances are getting better while 31% believe that the U.S. economy was improving.

Thirty-six percent (36%) of voters nationwide believe that their state government employees are paid more than comparable private sector workers. Twenty-one percent (21%) say they’re paid less. Overall, 48% of voters nationwide side with the Governor of Wisconsin in his dispute with labor unions while 38% support the union. Most Republicans and unaffiliated voters support the Governor while most Democrats support the union.

Fifty-two percent (52%) still say President Bush is to blame for the nation’s economic problems while 41% blame the policies of the Obama Administration.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 28% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-eight percent (38%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -10.

As they have in every week since the health care law was passed last year, a majority of voters continue to favor repeal of that law. Forty-eight percent (48%) say that repeal is at least somewhat likely while 39% disagree. However, most are far from certain. Only 17% consider repeal Very Likely and 9% say it’s Not at All Likely.

Given a choice between continuing spending at current levels or a partial government shutdown until spending cuts are agreed upon, 58% prefer the government shutdown. However, most also think that the proposed GOP spending cuts are pretty insignificant.

The number of Republicans in the nation declined for the second straight month, but there are still more Republicans than Democrats for the fourth straight month.

Two-thirds (66%) believe that private sector workers work harder than government employees but that government employees have more job security.

Looking back, 51% now say the U.S. should not have gotten involved in Iraq.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -10.

For the first time ever, a majority of voters (52%) favor bringing home all U.S. troops from Afghanistan within a year.

New polling from Wisconsin shows that the state’s voters oppose weakening collective bargaining rights in general but strongly support specific changes in collective bargaining practices. From a polling perspective, this phenomenon is a bit like data that shows people resist spending cuts in general areas like infrastructure programs but support specific cuts in programs like Amtrak subsidies.

Yesterday, Scott Rasmussen took a look at a number of polls about the situation in Wisconsin and concludes that there’s something to be learned from the differences in question wording.

Sixty-one percent (61%) believe the president is more liberal than they are.

As gas prices rise, consumer confidence often moves in the opposite direction. The Rasmussen Consumer Index shows confidence has today fallen to the lowest level of 2011. Thirty-three percent (33%) of American adults now rate their own personal finances as good or excellent. That’s down from 43% the night before Lehman Brothers collapsed in September 2008. It’s also down from 38% on the night President Obama was elected and 35% the day he was inaugurated.

In this economy, 30% of working Americans are now looking for a job outside of their current employer.

Forty-eight percent (48%) of Wisconsin voters think that increases in public employee pension benefits should require voter approval before implementation.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 23% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16.

Consumer confidence has again fallen to a new 2011 low. At 73.1, the Rasmussen Consumer Index shows confidence down 20 points from the year’s high water mark. Today, investor confidence has also hit a 2011 low and is also down 20 points from its peak earlier in the year. Only 8% of Americans rate the economy as good or excellent while 60% rate it poor.

Only one out of three (33%) workers nationwide expects to earn more money a year from now. That’s down from 49% two years ago.

Just 17% of voters nationwide believe that American Muslims are treated unfairly because of their religion and ethnicity. However, a solid plurality of liberal voters (49%) believe that American Muslims are treated unfairly. Most conservatives and moderates disagree. Polling released yesterday showed that 39% believe the federal government does not focus enough on the potential threat from domestic Islamic terrorism. Only 14% believe the government focuses too much attention on this issue.

Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -20. That matches the president’s lowest ratings of 2011.

Most voters continue to favor repeal of last year’s health care law. Sixty-one percent (61%) believe it will raise the cost of health care and 59% believe it will increase the federal budget deficit.

Americans overwhelmingly believe that employee pay should be based upon performance rather than education or seniority.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 20% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -22. That is the president’s lowest rating since September.

Just 27% believe the bailouts were good for the United States. Fifty-seven percent (57%) believe they were bad.

Consumer confidence reached a two-year high in January but slipped in February. For the first 15 days of March, the daily Rasmussen Consumer Index figures show confidence down from February levels.

Republicans currently enjoy a nine-point advantage on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

That’s down from 52% in December and the lowest level of long-term optimism measured during President Obama’s time in office.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 24% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16.

These daily updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, well over two-thirds of the interviews for today’s update were completed before the president’s speech at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time last night.

The Rasmussen Employment Index fell sharply to the lowest level in seven months. Just 18% of working Americans now report that their firms are hiring while 25% say their firms are laying workers off. That’s far more pessimistic than a month ago when 20% reported hiring and 22% reported lay-offs.

Eighty-one percent (81%) know someone who is out of work and looking for a job. Forty-eight percent (48%) know someone who has given up looking out of frustration. Only 16% believe the job market is better than it was a year ago while 36% believe it is worse.

Just 30% of Small Business Owners say that economic conditions are getting better for their business. Among the overwhelming majority of small businesses hit by the recession, only 22% have seen a sustained recovery.
