The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 21% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21 (see trends).
Scott Rasmussen will be hosting the Rasmussen Report on radio again this Sunday at 3:06 p.m. Eastern. The show will air on WMAL/630AM in Washington, WLS/890AM in Chicago, and online everywhere. Scott will touch on the big stories of the week, take calls from listeners, and discuss whether the Tea Party will help or hurt the GOP in 2012. Recent polling shows that 58% of Republican primary voters think the Tea Party will help.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.
Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) at least somewhat disapprove.
Voters overwhelmingly support student loan programs but are less supportive of grants that don’t have to be repaid.
