I apologize if this has been posted before but I could not find when searching...

I know, you are probably thinking like I am after reading the title, “You’ve got to be kidding!” I’m not. Even after the Department of Homeland Security indicated that they had nearly 264 million rounds of ammunition back near the end of November 2012, they have sent out an email to Border Patrol agents yesterday informing them that they will not be issued any new proficiency ammunition for next quarter.

Townhall obtained an email sent to Border Patrol agents stationed in the El Centro border sector by a supervisor:

Enforcement Personnel,

Due to budget concerns and ammunition availability, we will not be getting issued any proficiency ammunition for next quarter. In addition to these reductions, we are also being limited to qualification ammo only. What this means to you is that you will not receive the normal 150 rounds for practice and we will not have any extra ammunition for a combat course following normal qualifications.

If you have the ammunition available and would like extra practice during your qualification day, the firearms instructors will have a training course available for Indio Station Personnel, keeping in mind basic marksmanship skills as well as tactical training with a limited amount of ammunition. You are not required to bring your own ammunition.

If you do not have extra ammo to bring, you will be given extra time to clean and maintain your issued handgun as well as station long arms.

If you have any questions about this quarters (sic) quals please feel free to send me your concerns.

Thanks.
According to my previous calculations, not only did DHS inform Tom Coburn that they had an inventory at that time of nearly 264 million round of ammunition (figure that was 73% of the previous three years purchases), but they had also budgeted over $37 million to be spent on ammunition in fiscal year 2013.

The local chapter 2554 of the National Border Patrol Council asks, “We get a 32% pay cut, even though Congress gave CBP enough money to cover salaries, and now we can’t even maintain proficiency with our service weapons to defend ourselves in the field…..Why is there an ammunition shortage? Why can’t Border Patrol agents get enough ammunition to maintain proficiency, especially at a time of increased cross-border smuggling and illegal activity? Where is all this ammunition going?”

This is serious national security threat as well when your border agents are not properly armed. However, it is a logical extension from an administration who has already admonished them to not fire their weapons, but run, hide and throw things.

Yes, it does make you wonder doesn’t it? Some of us have a pretty good idea too, which is why we are preparing for the worst.

I have read that most in law enforcement get anywhere from to just 30 rounds to 75 rounds for qualifying each year and while it runs into money that not really allot for each officer, there are members here that shoot more than that in any given year.

Ammo shortage? Well anything can be contrived or manufactured so you have to ask yourself what is their motivation to contrive this shortage? Hint, the answer does not give you a warm and fuzzy!

Saved, to glorify God.
Well, that show the UPSIDE DOWN REASONING OF OUR LEADERS!

You NEED A LOT MORE AMMO to supply the BAD SHOOTERS THAT THEY REFUSE TO TRAIN TO BE ACCURATE!

So, the decision makers are "saving" the plentiful ammo they have in order to later have lots to supply to those with "police power" (who can't hit the side of a barn) lots of bullets with which to MISS their intended targets when they are ordered to fight!

The Idiots, insane, and ass****s have been put in charge of everything!

I have a friend whose company supplies chemicals to ATK [very big ammo manufacturer]. Told me they're adding shifts, can't turn 'em out fast enough.

Thirty to 75 rounds a year? I shoot more than that in an hour.

What gets me is how many times do you need to practice.
I'm fifty six almost and have been shooting since I was nine,I can pick up any weapon and am very acurate, and I don't practice every year all the time ,don't have the money any more to waste.
After so many years of shooting I don't need to practice so much, if you get it and are a good shot you don't need to practice all the time, IMHO if you need to practice all the time because you are a bad shot then manybe you should get another job.

Most of the alpha bet soup field officers of any stripe are in their twenties to early thirties. We were shooting while they were still
soiling their diapers. Us guys that are a little more seasoned don't need to shoot as much to be accurate. I shoot a couple of times
a year and that is about it but I'm still as accurate for the most part as I was when I was a lot younger.

most of the current ABC officers never picked up a firearm till age 18-20
the older more seasoned people cut their teeth on the rifle stock so to speak
that is the big difference
they may ''look good'' all decked out but its still ''spray n pray'' as far as accuracy

NY SWAT Cop Ridiculed After He’s Pictured with Eotech Rifle Sight on Backwards

New York – -(Ammoland.com)- A SWAT team in upstate New York is being mocked as an example of the difference between military and police training after an officer was captured peering through a backwards Eotech sight on his combat rifle.

As users on Reddit were quick to point out when the image was 1st posted, the reverse sight makes it effectively useless.

Users mocked the SWAT officers training and some went so far as to question the motives of some of the men serving in local law enforcement.

The officer is using a ‘military style’ assault weapon with a close quarters combat sight that costs roughly $500.

‘It’s disturbing to think that 1) none of his buddies corrected it, and 2) he’s in a real-life situation with his optic on backwards, which means he’s never fired that rifle with the optic on it, which means it isn’t zeroed and he thought it was OK to show up to a gunfight with an unzeroed weapon,’ wrote one Reddit user.

New York is the same state that recently passed the NY SAFE Act restricting ownership of the same type of rifles to regular New York citizens, with one of the reasons being that they do not receive the same training as SWAT “Only Ones”. To add insult to injury the New York legislature is in the process of passing an amendments to the SAFE Act to exempt police from this law.

So which side of the fence would the political views of your average Border Patrol agent lay,
Maybe the ammo is being saved for those more politically reliable just like Soviet Russia,

Seeing crap like this makes me think we should be okay. IF these are the types we will have to face, then I'm not too worried.
