PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The DMV experienced a network outage Thursday morning that impacted states across the country – including Oregon.

The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) attributed the interruption to a “loss in cloud connectivity,” which left transportation agencies in the dark for nearly three hours.

David House with the Oregon Department of Transportation told KOIN 6 News the national outage caused their verification services to go down.

“These allow states to verify things like Social Security Number, whether someone is suspended in another state, etc,” House said. “When these systems were down, we were unable to issue driver licenses, permits and ID cards or process title transactions.”

The outage affected the Oregon DMV from 6:50 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. However, the cause of the interruption is still unknown.
“The AAMVA is working internally and with our cloud providers to determine the root cause of the outage,” the national agency told Nexstar Media in a statement.

Other states, including Arkansas, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Colorado and Virginia, confirmed similar issues with their systems on social media.
Stay with KOIN 6 News as this story develops.

My head went the other way, seems to me to possibly be an opportunity on the cloud end of that bit of the network to issue their choice of state driver's licenses without the usual scrutiny that the states would normally do. Just sayin.....
It does prompt thought. Something about the DMV nationwide is very important.

I went in this am to renew my Drivers License and they said the computer was down. They didn't know anything about it though. This was around 9:45. It was a pain for me since I am handicapped and I have to get someone to take me into the building. The end of the month is getting close. I'm in Alabama which wasn't named in the article.

On the Social Security Administration sub Reddit, there are multiple folks posting that in person appointments as well as phone call appointments are impacted due to SSA not being able to verify recipients identification and home addresses.

I would remember this day / event….TPTB could have inserted an upgraded “status” for thousands or millions of “migrants” … time will tell…especially since they say SAVE was also impacted by this outage. YMMV

Oh, you mean like when the requirements to vote become show up in person, and have a "valid" ID" ?? You could add to this a couple more what if's: much more confusion in the system of just who do you deport, should .gov choose to go to deporting illegal immigrants. Also, if a business were inclined to hire only US citizens, (I have read of companies in red parts of the country suggesting this), just exactly who do they hire? It's a safe bet that there will NOT be a box on any ID's issued that is labeled, or implies., "Came to this country illegally"

As you're thinking, there is something very important lurking in this whole thing......

What would that have to do with the DMV?

That depends on what this means from that site:
SAVE is an acronym for Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements. It is a Department of Homeland Security/United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) program that retrieves data from multiple databases to determine a non-citizen's lawful status in the U.S.
On the surface, it is about getting "legal" "immigrants" their state issued ID, drivers license, other "documentation", and other "entitlements" that those items "allow"...

Deeper, think of all of the things that "ID" allows a person to DO, or GET, or GO...

Now think about how much "bending over backwards" certain groups and agencies are doing for the "immigrants". Allowing them to "skirt the law" on many levels, and hide them from the public, especially when they DO the illegal things that they do.

Then there are the voter rolls... If they are "counted" in the population for adding to the number of representatives, then that alone will drastically change the representation of any one area. If they are actually added to the voter rolls as well, then that will even further explode that voting base in those areas, especially if the "newly added voters" are not the actual people that are voting, but are used as a mass proxy vote base by certain others in one of the "mail in", "drop box" or other debased voting schemes that they use. While "they" may have their "address" or contact info (since "they" gave them their cellphones), "They" can verify, and we have no clue as to who is who. The only thing that might show this happening is to compare the yearly voter rolls over the last 10-20 years for each area and see if there is an explosion in the numbers somewhere.

But if they are only adding them to some "counts" and not to others, then I could see them adding to the number of representatives, and not the voter rolls, and thereby it not showing up in places that could be "evidence" for the public to see (if found at all)...

Loup, as usual, is ALWAYS a good read. And he's "right on" on this voter subterfuge.

A methodology sufficiently deep in the bureaucracy that can be hidden, and if suspected by outsiders, can be "slow walked" while the correct judges are lined up to adjudicate the cases to a "no standing" conclusion.

Just like in 2020 (and 2022)

Owner says he suspects his generation is the "last" generation to actually have gone to 10th Grade Civics Class.

The scope of the outage is interesting. My local Sheriff had no issues running tags yesterday. I wonder if it only hit the front end part of the system.

I have checked (Googled) "NH DMV Outages."

The top search return yields the following:

MAAP User Updates

The purpose of the MAAP User Updates page is to notify Municipal Agents of outages in specific areas or statewide. This page will contain immediate updates regarding any outages, including the possible length of an outage and any instructions needed when logging back into the system.

3/22/2021 9:00 am- There are no known MAAP outages.

Further down on the Google search outages are acknowledged for Massachusetts DMV.

When you get a driver’s license in AL you can automatically register to vote at the same time. How handy.
I have heard reports that "Motor Voter Rules" were invented by Cloward (Of Cloward/Piven fame.)

Google Query: "Motor Voter Cloward Piven."
Political activities: In 1982, he and his wife Frances Fox Piven founded "Human SERVE" (Service Employees Registration and Voter Education), which established motor-voter programs in selected states as precedents for the Motor Voter Act enacted in 1993.
