What a shit show. From beginning to end.
:applaud: :bhd::dhr:
As usual, par for the course, every….. single…… time……
And the voices in their heads always tell them to go kill innocent folks.…
Yes, there is always an outlier, but all the evil outstanding folks, never…. a…… scratch……

He was a frequent customer of both places. He knew them and they knew him. He had been hallucinating for weeks over hearing them all talk about him through his new hearing aids. Family had been alerting police that he was becoming more and more crazy and feeling hostile-tormented. Cops tried to locate him several times in response to those calls from family (yellow flag law), but could not, so they let it go, seemingly. Who knows how many such calls these cops get about dangerous deranged family members. I’ll bet it a lot. Entire state of Maine has only 35 certified mental health crisis professionals. Nobody gets mental health care here.

I have not seen a source for that. And thermal is for low/no light, not inside a lighted building.

I remember word on the police scanner that night and supposedly someone who knew him in law enforcement passed on the scope info to the dispatcher. I don’t recall there being any other details. This was when the man called in and said he heard a bang behind his building and they all rushed over. Up the road from the boat ramp.

THIS IS AMERICA: As Authorities Searched for Mass Murderer Robert Card, Gun Sales Spiked 200% in Maine

guns-maine.jpg

Gun sales in and around Lewiston, Maine surged by more than 200% following the tragic mass shooting that resulted in the loss of 18 lives and left over a dozen individuals injured.

Even with a shelter-in-place order enforced in Lewiston, Maine, community members pleaded with local gun shop owners to open their doors.

Based on information from Fox Business, Ryan Gagnon, a co-owner at 3 Cousins Firearms in Lewiston, mentioned, “Our sales were up, I’d say, over 200% compared to a regular Friday.”

Another gun shop owner, Tony Lewis, said that he did more business after the mass shooting than he did during the entire month.

Lewis went on to clarify why Maine residents were rushing to purchase guns, stating: “People are scared… So they want to make sure they can protect themselves.”

As reported by Fox Business:

Gun sales in the Lewiston, Maine, area spiked as much as 200% after Wednesday’s mass shooting that claimed at least 18 lives and injured 13 more, one store owner said.

“We were swamped yesterday,” Ryan Gagnon, co-owner of 3 Cousins Firearms in Lewiston and a Navy veteran, told Fox News Digital Saturday morning. “Our sales were up, I would say, over 200% compared to a typical Friday.”

They didn’t plan to open their store because of the shelter-in-place order that turned the city into a ghost town reminiscent of the COVID shutdowns. But Gagnon, whose shop about half a mile from one of the crime scenes, said they received so many messages and Facebook messages that they felt like they had to open the shop.

According to a 2022 report from Pew Research, 47% of Maine residents own guns.

According to the Daily Mail, the Maine shooter was found dead in the woods with 2 gunshots to the head...not sure how that's possible as a self-inflicted...

It happens more than you think. The person is either very drunk or drugged and places pistol in mouth but does not place it to hit the cranium. Round goes out the side of the mouth not to mention blow back. Immediately corrects problem and places gun to cranium. Successful suicide on that attempt. Medical Examiner will call that two head wounds. It is when you find two to back of the head that you have to look a little deeper.

I live only 30 miles from the incident. One example of how our small-town environment here works: Today seeing lots of FB posts reminding everyone that the shooter’s family is also suffering their loss. They tried to notify authorities in the days prior, plus did lots to try to bring him in after it happened (texting him begging surrender, provided plenty of info to help find him).

My heart hurts for everyone involved. There is nothing easy about this. I can't imagine how my family would feel if this happened with one of ours.

Yup. If you are going to do it, at least do it right.

JUST IN: Police visited Maine gunman's home SIX WEEKS before massacre after he told doctors he was going to 'SNAP AND COMMIT a mass shooting.'

Law enforcement chiefs in Maine issued an awareness alert for Robert Card, a U.S. Army reservist, in September after threats were made.

Despite visits and increased patrols, Card remained elusive.

During a welfare check, it was noted that he typically answered the door with a concealed handgun.

Odd how that is so. Like how they are trying to frame a narrative...
Or maybe, she's trying to live her life and they didn't find anything she did wrong, except maybe dating a psycho.

We really DON'T have the right to know everything. If they interviewed her (and I'm certain she was near the top of the list once he was identified as the suspect) and it turned out she helped him plan, or even helped him buy a weapon as an unwitting dupe, then her right to privacy is trumped by her involvement. Otherwise... not our business.

On the issue of two gun shot wounds to the head
It is possible
I worked an attempted suicide who had two wounds
First attempt he placed the barrel of his revolver in his mouth
And flinched. Causing the round to exit to the side of his mouth. Bunch of his cheek. And a portion of his jaw bone gone
Next he put the barrel to his right temple but not direct on. But at an angle. Round went up the outside of his cranium
He lived

Also worked one where the guy placed the ruger 38 above his nose between his eyes
Bullet entered and passed between the brain halves and exited thru the bacl
He lived.
Women seldom shoot themselves in the head. Vanity reason
If a woman uses a pistol they will shoot them selves in the chest
Had a case where a woman did just that.
Shot her self twice in the chest but missed the heart. She did die but several days latter from secondary issues.
So I place credence to the initial repot that what’s his name was shot in the head twice as a self inflicted

Red flags: Police agencies across the state of Maine were alerted about Robert Card weeks before the mass shooting

LEWISTON, ME - In the aftermath of one of the nation's deadliest mass shootings, Fox News has reported that authorities within the Lewiston Police Department (LPD) were warned about Robert Card weeks before the massacre.

Since mid-September, police across the state of Maine were reportedly alerted to the "veiled threats" made by Card, a U.S. Army reservist.

Two law enforcement officials told the Associated Press (AP) that a "statewide awareness alert" was sent to be on the looking for Card after the firearms instructor made threats against his base and fellow soldiers.

After those alerts, the base stepped up its patrols and paid a visit to Card's home. However, when the could not find him, they dropped their investigation. Saco Police Chief Jack Clements said, "We added extra patrols, we did that for about two weeks. The guy never showed up."

He added, "Never came in contact with this guy, never received any phone calls from the reserve center saying, 'Hey, we got somebody who was causing a problem.' We never got anything."

Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry, whose jurisdiction includes Card's residence in Bowdoin, said that the Army Reserve alerted his department back in September. Merry said that he sent the "awareness alert" to every law enforcement agency in the state after his deputy came back with no additional information or Card from a welfare check done at his home.

He said, "We couldn't locate him. I don't have any reports in front of me." At the time, he couldn't recall if there was any follow-up after the welfare check.

Despite the threats that Card made previously, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) told AP that Card had not been on their radar. The FBI said it "did not have nor did it receive any tips or information concerning Robert Card."

The FBI added that its instant background check system was "not provided with" or "in possession of any information" that would have "prohibited Card from a lawful firearm purchase."

Maine does not have a "red flag law." It does, however, have a limited "yellow flag law" that still allows police to petition a judge to take a person's firearms away if a medical practitioner deems that person to be a threat.

Maine was not the only state where law enforcement came in contact with Card. Back in July, the New York State Police were called in West Point by commanders of the Army Reserve's 3rd Battalion, 304th Infantry Regiment with concerns about Card's "erratic behavior."

Documents obtained by AP state that troopers took Card, a Sergeant First Class, to the Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point for what would be two weeks of mental health evaluations.

It is not clear what the New York State Police did about Card's erratic behavior or threats to other military members on the base. The day before Card was found dead, the New York State Police said in a statement, "This is an active investigation and the New York State Police does not comment on active investigations in which we are not the lead agency."

Maine Department of Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck said that while Card had a history of mental illness, there was no evidence that he had ever been involuntarily committed.

He said, "Just because there appears to be a mental health nexus to this scenario, the vast majority of people with mental health diagnosis will never hurt anybody."

Jody Madeira, an Indiana University law professor said that police in one state can alert counterparts in another state that someone is a danger and that the military can do the same with local police.

She said that someone "dropped the ball" because Card's threats and medical evaluation should have triggered a yellow flag seizure of his guns when he returned home. She added, "He slipped through the cracks. There were warning signs."

We just had a “copycat” shootout in our town last night. A 23 year old drove into police dept parking lot and stepped out with rifle blazing until cops took him out. Started as a road rage incident. The young man is well-known in community as a really nice upstanding young man. Something snapped, perhaps precipitated by the Lewiston incident

Maine 18-Year-Old Arrested for Social Media Threat Hinting at "Lewiston Part Two"

bowden-600x338.jpg

An 18-year-old in Maine has been arrested after he allegedly threatened “Lewiston Part Two” in a Snapchat post.
Michael Bowden, 18, of Etna, Maine was arrested after he took a picture of himself with a .308-caliber Savage bolt-action rifle with bullets in his lap and sent it to a Walmart employee in Palmyra, Maine.
After sending the photo to the Walmart employee, Bowden, in a text message, threatened to commit “Lewiston part two,” which was a reference to the recent mass shooting in Lewiston which left 18 people dead.

Somerset County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell, in a statement, shared, “He (Bowden) took a picture of himself in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, and in that picture you can see a gun — a hunting rifle,”
Bowden has been charged with “aggravated reckless conduct and domestic violence terrorizing,” but the 18-year-old has since been released on a $10,000 cash bond.

“He took a picture of himself in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, and in that picture you can see a gun — a hunting rifle,” Mitchell said. “You can also see a bullet in his lap.”
Authorities reported before Bowden made the threat, he was seen in the Palmyra Walmart’s parking lot on a nightly basis.
Bowden previously worked at the Palmyra Walmart but was terminated in 2021.

New Police Report Reveals What the "Voices" Were Telling the Lewiston Mass Shooter

New police reports obtained by The New York Post reveal Lewiston Mass shooter Robert Card previously claimed “he could hear voices in his head calling him a “pedophile.”
In the same police report, it stated Card was extremely paranoid that people were “casing” his home just months before his deadly shooting rampage took place.

According to Katie Card, who is married to Robert’s brother, Robert began to hear “horrible” voices in his head talking about him shortly after he was “fitted for high-powered hearing aids.”
Card continued, “He was picking up voices that he had never heard.”
On Wednesday, The Gateway Pundit reported Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry sent officers to Card’s home back in September after receiving information from the U.S. Army Reserve that Card made “veiled threats” against an Army base.

Per The New York Post:
Deranged Maine mass shooter Robert Card had repeatedly claimed he could hear voices in his head calling him a “pedophile” and was paranoid that people were “casing” his home in the months before he massacred 18 people, police reports obtained by The Post show.
The 40-year-old gunman’s family were among the first to alert authorities about his erratic behavior after he started verbally lashing out at them and once opened the door to them brandishing a gun, according to at least two Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office incident reports.
Card — who, according to his relatives, had been drinking heavily in the lead-up to last week’s mass shooting in Lewiston — had become so paranoid that people were calling him a pedophile that he’d talked about wanting to hire a lawyer.
The Maine National Guard, too, had become so concerned about the US Army reservist that it had urged local authorities to carry out a welfare check because fellow soldiers feared Card would “snap and commit a mass shooting.”
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, before Card’s mugshot was released, several users on X jumped the gun and claimed Robert Card was a sex offender.
The claims(The Gateway Pundit did not publish this item) were made after it was discovered a Robert W. Card was listed on Maine’s sex offender registry. However, the suspect in the mass shooting was Robert R. Card.

Updated 5:30 PM EDT, March 15, 2024

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A sheriff’s office investigating a mass shooting in Maine had cause to take the killer into protective custody beforehand and to take away his guns, according to a report issued by an independent commission Friday.

Democratic Gov. Janet Mills and Attorney General Aaron Frey assembled the commission to review both the events leading up to Oct. 25, when Army reservist Robert Card killed 18 people in a bowling alley and a bar, and the response to the tragedy.

Led by a former chief justice of Maine’s highest court, the commission also included a former U.S. attorney and the former chief forensic psychologist for the state. It held seven sessions starting in November, hearing from law enforcement, survivors and victims’ family members and members of the U.S. Army Reserve as it explored whether anything could have been done to prevent the tragedy and what changes should be made going forward.

Card, who was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot after a two-day search, was well known to law enforcement, and his family and fellow service members had raised flags about his behavior, deteriorating mental health and potential for violence before the shootings.

In May, relatives warned police that Card had grown paranoid, and they expressed concern about his access to guns. In July, Card was hospitalized in a psychiatric unit for two weeks after shoving a fellow reservist and locking himself in a motel room. In August, the Army barred him from handling weapons while on duty and declared him nondeployable. And in September, a fellow reservist texted an Army supervisor about his growing concerns about Card, saying, “I believe he’s going to snap and do a mass shooting.”

But law enforcement officials told commission members that Maine’s yellow flag law makes it difficult to remove guns from potentially dangerous people.
“I couldn’t get him to the door. I can’t make him open the door,” said Sgt. Aaron Skolfield, who visited Card’s home for a welfare check in September. “If I had kicked in the door, that would’ve been a violation of the law.”

In later testimony, those involved in the search for Card in the shooting’s aftermath acknowledged potential missed opportunities to find him and end the search that locked down the community and terrified residents. Some of the most emotional testimony came family members who tearfully described scenes of blood, chaos and panic followed by unfathomable loss.
Rachael Sloat, who was engaged to be married to shooting victim Peton Berwer Ross, told the committee that her heart breaks every time their 2-year-old daughter asks for her daddy.

“Where are you?” she said. “Every politician, every member of law enforcement, every registered voter in the country – I want you to hear those words. ‘Where are you?’ Because my fellow Americans, where are you? We failed my little girl.”
