New First Presidency letter urges individuals to receive COVID-19 vaccinations ‘proven to be both safe and effective’; masks also encouraged
byNewsroom of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints | Aug. 12, 2021

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent the following message on Thursday, August 12, 2021, to Church members around the world:
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We find ourselves fighting a war against the ravages of COVID-19 and its variants, an unrelenting pandemic. We want to do all we can to limit the spread of these viruses. We know that protection from the diseases they cause can only be achieved by immunizing a very high percentage of the population.

To limit exposure to these viruses, we urge the use of face masks in public meetings whenever social distancing is not possible. To provide personal protection from such severe infections, we urge individuals to be vaccinated. Available vaccines have proven to be both safe and effective.

We can win this war if everyone will follow the wise and thoughtful recommendations of medical experts and government leaders. Please know of our sincere love and great concern for all of God’s children.

You can hardly expect ANY church leadership to openly be anti-jab/anti-mask. I mean come on man! ;)
I think one might reasonably expect a church to say something like... "Everyone must make their own decision whether to vaccinate. Research it. Ponder it. Pray about it. Make your own decision." I'll be open here. I took the JnJ vax myself. I do not feel that people should be pressured into it. Since churches won't give this advisement, I will..."Research it. Ponder it. Pray about it. Make your own decision." It's too obvious now that the vaccine does little. I now know two people in the past two weeks that have been fully vaxed and have come down with covid. One has been admitted to the hospital and is not what you would call a compromised person as far as health goes.

No. This goes deeper with churches and the 501c3. They are scared shitless about this tax status.

In light of the Domestic Terror Threat Advisement issued by the Biden Admin and this post "Americans who oppose vaccine mandates may now be seen as threats equal to those who commiserate with Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or other terrorist organizations. If you doubt this possibility, pay close attention to the "toolkit" that the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency recently posted:
"Q: Who are the primary malign actors associated with the spreading of COVID-related disinformation?
A: Russian, Chinese and Iranian state- sponsored elements, as well as domestic extremist groups."

I think it's a survival tactic to be available and have resources ready when the REAL problems start to appear.

For the second time in 45 years, i find myself with a totally opposite view with the president of the church. Both of those times was under THIS president. Beginning to see a pattern here.
You have to love this line from the letter...

"We can win this war if everyone will follow the wise and thoughtful recommendations of medical experts and government leaders."

It's anything but wise and thoughtful.

They aren't saying outright that we have to, still our choice. That is where we stand.
They are urging and telling lies, though. "We know that protection from the diseases they cause can only be achieved by immunizing a very high percentage of the population. " We know that the vaxed are getting covid now. The feds won't report it, though. BUT, the church continues this line with another lie... "We can win this war if everyone will follow the wise and thoughtful recommendations of medical experts and government leaders." They are moving to mandates...NOT recommendations. Further, "We find ourselves fighting a war against the ravages of COVID-19 and its variants, an unrelenting pandemic. " It's unrelenting due to the feds are using it as a ruse to do mail in voting next year in larger numbers than the last cheat.

I feel like writing a direct letter to Salt Lake stating that I cannot and will not accept this edict.
Well silence is acceptance.

We give the RC members a hard time for following that Jackass Socialist Pope, it is obvious that the church President has been gotten to.

Do it...if they tell you to leave take it as a sign as they were all full of BS.

Our church (The River at Tampa Bay)(in the free state of Florida) has 1200 plus people every Sunday morning. Nobody has a mask, social distancing is shoulder to shoulder, and there are lots of hugs and handshakes. Our pastor preaches anti mask and anti vac. Last year he was arrested for allowing that kind of behavior (spent a few hours behind bars). Pastor's attorney pointed out to the sheriff that the arrest was illegal and pastor was immediately released and all charges dropped. The sheriff now posts several armed deputies at our services to protect us against any pro vax whacko(s). Pastor reminds us to get on our knees every day and thank God our governor isn't a communist.

People would have to repent if they don't follow the advisement. "When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done. When they propose a plan–it is God’s plan. When they point the way, there is no other which is safe. When they give direction, it should mark the end of controversy. God works in no other way. To think otherwise, without immediate repentance, may cost one his faith, may destroy his testimony, and leave him a stranger to the kingdom of God." I’m going to have to come up with decent wording. I don’t want it to be an incoherent rant. But yeah, I really gotta write something up.
This guy had a good comment. I agree with him and this is what a lot of people on LDS forums are saying, too.

Did the presidency really say follow the “wise and thoughtful” guidance from medical and government personnel? Have they seen some of these “wise gov officials? The highest in the land can’t even finish a coherent sentence. The church, to me, is now the same as the lying dirty, tyrannical government.

Found this on Newsweek.

Like most major religious orders or denominations, many at the very top are compromised or wholly evil…they wouldn’t have gotten to where they are if they weren’t.

I don’t care if it’s LDS, RCC, SBC, etc. there are those who want to serve Christ and His kingdom, and then, there are those who mean to rule over those humble foot washers…they may act benevolent, but if they have to, they can get as dirty and vile as any worldly leader.

The greatest among us, will be the least…Christ’s words.

We’ve all lived long enough to have seen enough to know human nature is rotten to the core…anyone who seeks power should be viewed with a healthy amount of suspicion…even if it is leadership in a good organization!

LDS believe in continual revelation via the church president. Up until this year it used to be the "Corporation of the President". However, this was changed last year to merge the Corporation of the Presiding Bishop and Corporation of the President into just "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". It was a play for the 501c. Previous to that, everything was owned by the two entities. A lot of changes being done, things being said, to get in good with the feds now. The IRS had been hot on their trail a long time. LDS are not the only ones like this. If you look, you'll find most churches are incorporated. Most churches care more about tax status than God.
