I have knee problems but knee not bone on bone. I have come to conclusion it is tendons and ligaments.

That is what both my PC doctor and Rheumatologist tells me is wrong with mine. The joint itself is healthy, after having several x-rays done on it. I just have one of those cheap knee braces from Walmart that has never done me any good at all. I'll have to look around to see if I can find a better one, but the one Judy posted is just too expensive for me, especially, if it doesn't work for me. I told Cary that I thought maybe if I went on a cane or crutches, it might get well. I haven't done that, yet.

We're under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 pm. with possible tornadoes. We had a thunderstorm roll over us at daylight this morning. Not a lot of wind, but lots more rain. Nothing outside going to get done today. The big garden needs hoeing, but I would sink into soggy mud if I tried right now. I did manage to pick a large bowl of banana peppers this morning after the rain. Even though, our gardens were planted later than we like, this appears (right now) to be the best gardens we've had in several years. Maybe, waiting til later about getting them started was a good thing.

I'll be doing regular household chores today. I need to beat myself over the head to make myself get to doing all this ironing that has piled up, since our dry cleaners is closed for repairs. Only our dressy casual clothes get pressed. I also need to thaw out more ground beef to can. I won't be buying anymore, until I get what's in the freezer canned up, about 12 lbs.

Before I got the knee brace from the VA, I tried several others, some worked better than nothing. I also took a NSAID, which helped tremendously. The VA also gave me a nice cane, which I promptly lost, now clue where I left it. But I found a comprible one on amazon.

By the time I got the VA knee brace and cane, my knee was almost normal feeling. It was inflamed and the NSAID (non steriodal anti inflammatory) that cured the inflammation. It took me what seemed like forever to finally get to ortho for the knee brace. At that point I took whatever they were willing to give me, to include two of the knee braces (one for each knee as I'd had issues with the other one in the past) the cane, and a rolling walker. That walker must be very expensive although its a pain to use. A friend gave me an old one of his that is much easier to use. I don't knee them but I have them if I do.

Needless to say I'm very grateful, on a daily basis, for the health care I get at the VA. There have been many benefits to having raised my hand and giving 2 years of my life to the Navy. It was quite an experience.

We just had a severe thunderstorm roll over us. Glad that's over.

I've made a big showing of the laundry I had to iron. I had to stop, because my back and knee began to hurt pretty bad. I didn't like but 5 of Cary's shirts to do. They are all long sleeve, so there's no hurry on getting those done.

Once the rain stops, I'm going out to my mini barn and drag a few more rain catchment buckets out to set on the back deck. Just because we're getting plenty of rain right now, doesn't mean that it will last all summer. We need to be catching as much water as we can right now, so we'll have plenty later on.

I did drag out my knee brace to use again. Maybe, I'll have better success with it this time.

Just did a quick run to Walgreens. They have the Arm & Hammer detergent for $1.99. There were coupons in this Sunday's paper for $1 off of one. I had three coupons, so picked up three bottles of detergent, two bottles of distilled water (the limit) and a 9 pack of generic toilet paper. Using my rewards, I only paid $5 + some change on my order. I like shopping like that! I have enough laundry detergent for four or five years if it was just the two of us.

I watch Brad and Bob physical therapists on YT. The wife of one had a sore knee and didn't want to use crane or crutch. She finally relented and her knee got better. I have a cane to use on uneven round as my knees get wonky.

Really want to be able to go down stairs without feeling my knee will give. It hasn't but the fear is there.
The whole knee problem started after carrying heavy suitcase and other bags up a flight of stairs. I think I injured it and then arthritis set in. I have arthritis in other joints too. A healthy proper diet and good sleep and rest help but joints do flare up at times. Got tested for all the autoimmune due to past history but that were thankfully negative.

I havefound that the best braces of all types come from physical therapists, not doctors, and not Walmart.
That's the main reason it took me so long to get a knee brace, I had to jump through several hoops to get to a physical therapist. One the one hand it was worth it because she was wonderful, unlike the men I've seen in that department through the years.

Y'all, sigh. I'm in need of.prayers again and always. I have cellulitis to the right side of my face and the antibiotics are making me feel pretty lousy.
Any time. That stinks. I hope you feel better quickly.

Fingers crossed that the chaotic client is finally at the point of being organized and can remain so through the future. While larger paychecks are nice, the chaos isn't. Now I just have to wrangle a regular routine into place.

The steam distiller arrived yesterday. It's a good thing I no longer have a microwave. This is the smallest unit and it's about 2 feet tall. Just from first glance, I may order some longer hoses for the cooling part. The included hoses would have the bowl of ice water too close to the heat source.

I do need to order a separatory funnel and stand. It's the most practical way to separate small amounts of oil from hydosols.

Started walking again this week. Body both likes and hates it.

Ordered soaker hoses from Target, of all places, because they had them at clearance prices. From the comments, because too many people bought them thinking they were regular hoses. I laughed. My gain. I do need to get some trays from a thrift store so I can put them out for the birds.

Going to order plastic and clay pellets for the slingshot. The squirrels have gotten too brazen and are now pulling plants from pots on my porch. Time to put a little fear back into them. Maybe order a decent pellet pistol.

We closed up the soffit. That pissed off the squirrels and the birds. At least we managed to do it without trapping any of them inside.

Silicon liners for the slow cooker arrived. Looking forward to using those.

And seeds for herbs are arriving. Things I couldn't find plants for. And the garden is in. And all the potted plants are in the correct size pots except for the flat of strawberry plants that I need to upsize pots for.

The echinacea I started last year has completely exploded this year. The plan is for it to completely surround the lilac. But it's growing to 4 ft high!!! Regardless, I'm going to have to go make a few new openings in the mulch and add seed from the seed heads. The color patterned one did not survive but the old fashion, plain purple ones are doing wonderfully. I'll start harvesting flowers and leaves next week.

This weekend is mowing and handling weeds. I've got a tree limb pile to move. And another tree to delimb and get moved to the pile.I am honestly debating using the second steel drum to make some biochar for the garden beds. I have a massive pile of tree limbs to use for it and the beds could use the amending.

Anyways, time to get moving and go walking.

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
It has NOT rained here in 3 weeks!!! Thank GOD there is still running water in our community!!! CAN you BEGIN TO IMAGINE if there was NO RUNNING water and we had to HAUL water by hand!! Not even with a vehicle to use????
Those are the scenarios that go through my mind!!
I live in an area that is rather strange. I am about 1/4 mile from the lake here, over land, but many times it will rain ALL AROUND us, and we will get NO RAIN here!! The opposite however is NEVER true ....It Never rains here, and NOWHERE else!! Weird huh??Yesterday, I was out in the garden and the skies turned VERY GRAY.....it started thundering, it FELT like rain was in the air.....then, 30 minutes later, there was NO EVIDENCE of any thunder boomers or clouds of any sort ....clear blue sky and a BEAUTIFUL day!! Wish we could have gotten a bit of rain, but it just wasn't gonna happen!!

Well, the garden continues to come along. All of the melons.....of all sorts have been moved to their permanent areas of the garden now. My peppers all croaked!! This is the second year in a row that all my pepper plants croaked! I guess I will try to replant again!!! Maybe I can get some peppers by fall???

Praying for you, moldy. :rs:

I wore my knee brace all day, yesterday. I found my other one I had stuck back. It's the sleeve type. It keeps me from bending my knee. It never hurt as long as I was wearing it. BUT, I took it off when I went to bed, and it hurt something awful all night. I'm a side sleeper with both knees bent. I guess I'll try sleeping with it on, tonight.

Shopping day, today. Only a few items to pick up. It won't be a normal grocery shopping day. Dairy and fresh produce is all I need. I'm all out of milk, yogurt, cereal for Cary, and all my salad fixin's.

We have a well here..30" shallow....we have a well bucket...from Lehman. ..and plenty of rope to bring up water...the bucket and rope are something to consider having in case of a long grid down situation

I so very much wish we had a well like that. The old well that came with our house caved in, and we have found no one who can fix it. They don't dig wells like they once did. Now, they are all drilled. If our rain barrels and water tank doesn't see us through a SHTF event, we'll have to walk down to the creek and haul water back to our house. We aren't getting any younger, though, and it's a steep climb up hill bringing it back.

Thanks for link to knee brace Nomifyle. I have knee problems but knee not bone on bone. I have come to conclusion it is tendons and ligaments.

Summer is here! 105 next week in high desert of NM. But no humidity.

I am trying to cook and freeze some things for later. Quick breads and muffins right now. I hid my cans of pumpkin from myself when putting things in pantry after our last Costco run.
If your knee problem is not bone on bone, therapy might help. I went to therapy in April for my back and the stretching exercises have helped with both my knee and planer fasciitis (sp?). I continue to do the exercises daily which is a bore, but again necessary for my back. Exercises are to stretch muscles and strengthen muscles to support my back (stenosis). Who knew an old lady could build muscles???

One forecast still has rain on Saturday and another for both Saturday and Sunday. Praying it materializes.

I had several errands to do in my small town yesterday and forgot to write one down so I've got to back up today to do that one. I swear my memory resembles a sieve.

When I was at Walmart, I looked for a Pyrex dish with a snap on lid and could not find anything Pyrex or not. Looked at Dollar General and local hardware stores yesterday and they didn't have any either. Hardware store did have the complete set for $29 but I only want one piece. I know they used to be available singly for the bigger pieces and I don't want or need a whole set. I probably could find it on Amazon, but I hate shopping online especially for something easily broken in transit. Lots of the same thing in plastic, but I want glass.

You go, Anna! Yes, we "old ladies" CAN build muscle, improve flexibility, and in general stay able to do what is necessary or desired MUCH longer than "accepted wisdom " (or too many doctors) believe!

When I was in PT, they had me doing "step ups" on a 4 inch step! The therapist was appalled when I told her my stirrups were 30 inches off the ground, and I needed to be able to reach them and lift myself into the saddle... but after I told them I had been doing the exercises at home using an upside down 5 gallon pail, they cooperated and provided a safer, 15" tall block for me to use! Age affects us all, but it's not a hard and fast limit!

On the Pyrex... Amazon or Ebay. I've ordered many fragile things from various places, and except for Walmart, who hires actual morons to do their packing, it all arrived safely.

I got my grocery shopping all done. It was strange going into the grocery store and not buying much of anything, compared to buying enough for 2 weeks. Saved a lot of money, though.

I went out and checked on the gardens just as a thunderstorm blew in. I made it back to the house just in time without getting drenched. Power flickered on and off, but it never went completely out.

I'm trying to cook right now, so I hope it stays on.

My knee hasn't hurt again today as long as I wear the brace keeping my knee from bending. I'm going to try to sleep with it on, tonight.

Thank you all for the prayers. I am feeling better this evening - I'm so glad I was able to get into see a doc and get on top of this infection early. I did not go in to work today, but I think I will tomorrow. Didn't get much done, but I guess I needed the rest.

We are very blessed in that we have had a good year so far with HipCamp. 6 or 7 reservations so fat tis summer. It will never be a full-time income, but every little bit helps.

I pray you're still feeling better this morning, moldy.

My knee is much better after sleeping with the brace on last night. Overall, it's much improved, since I started wearing the sleeve brace. I slept good all night, and it's not hurting at all this morning. I'll continue wearing the brace and doing the exercises my Rheumatologist gave me to do.

During the severe thunderstorm we had yesterday afternoon, our power kept going on and off. Just as I was taking our supper out of the oven, it went out for over an hour. I was so happy that supper got done, and we ate it in the dark. It wasn't late enough for it to be completely dark outside, so there was no need to light candles or anything else.

More hit and miss storms for today. I'm washing bedsheets, so I hope it stays nice outside, so I can hang them on the line to dry. I hate putting our sheets/pillow cases in the dryer.

It's really soggy outside, so I haven't been out to check the gardens, yet. I'm sure there are peppers that need to be gathered.

We’ve got trees on the power line, and the power has already been off for several hours, we are looking at it being out for awhile.

My bladder woke me up about 3 this morning, I was able to crawl out the side of my chair and get it plugged into my jackery, hot one of my little fans plugged in to a power pack and went back to sleep.

Dh is out checking on the generator

I'm going to go driving around after while, apparently there is wide spread power outage and downed trees.

DH is going to have to hook up the other generator because everything is not powered that needs to be. The fridg in the kitchen is not on and we need to check all the other freezers.

Yesterday I was looking around for some of my lights out stuff, found a couple of things and a couple more usb fans, unfortunately its going to get hot. I couldn't find everything I was looking for but I did find some.

My cell service is spotty.

I just checked our forecast again. We are in for more severe storms this afternoon through Sunday night. I think I'll go ahead and make arrangements in case our power goes out again. We've had so much rain, lately, that it wouldn't take much to topple a few more trees.
