Kyrsyan. Have you considered creeping thyme for the ditch? Might be a part of the solution.
Oh yes. But when I've tried to do a few plants at the edges, they can't compete with the grass. I've finally come to realize that I'm going to have to do large segments at a time. And possibly put pavers around the water meter box.

And the seller I found sells a flat of 108. Plant those about 4" apart and water well and the old weeds won't make it back. Yarrow and plantain would probably both take over without me having to completely kill off the old weeds. Btw, I don't have grass in many areas, I have weeds. But there is one space that has absolutely gorgeous, low growing, soft on the feet grass. I just can't get it to spread to the other areas that I would love to have it in. I'm debating pulling plugs of it and expanding it's area at the edges every year. Because it mats out the weeds. And it only has to be mowed once a month.

Bingo tonight at church, I was digging around looking for blouse to wear and I found an old favorite. It badly needed ironing so I set the ironing board up in the bathroom. Got it done and it looks nice.

Its very hot outside, and we are predicted to get strong storms at 5 and 6 pm. That's just when the bingo is supposed to get started. I was going to make cole slaw but could not find the cole slaw dressing. Up until recently I've always made my own, but the jarred stuff has spoiled me. Must not have any so I'm cooking some of the cabbage for my lunch.

Other than cooking and ironing my blouse I've pretty much done nothing today. DH has been working on the new generator shed but it got too hot for him so he came in. A little every day will get it built.

It was mid morning when I headed to town today; Middle grandson and I decided to get the lemon shake ups out of the way before we started yard clean up (gotta hydrate, right? ) so we walked up town and picked up 3 lemon and 1 orange shake up, plus a funnel cake topped with powdered sugar and sliced strawberries - YUM! I guess all that sugar gave us energy enough to start working on the giant leaf pile left from last fall. Daughter has two huge maple trees in her front yard and lets the kids and their friends make a giant leaf pile to play in - even middle grandson who is at the "I don't want to look like a geek" stage will play in it. They helped me bag the leaves until I ran out of bags - and the box held 28 large size trash bags. I was wiped out by then anyway, so washed up a bit and then headed to Dollar General to pick up another box of bags for tomorrow - and just happened to pass by the stand where the Water Rescue/Dive Team were selling pulled pork sandwiches; Bless their hearts, they fixed supper tonight as I picked up enough for our house and daughter's. I had to run one grandson to the pool; and another one to his friend's house, so got home about 2:30. Hubby said to just leave the bags in the truck until tomorrow, I did so gratefully; and got cleaned up, then sat down in my chair and didn't wake up until around 5 pm - and am ready to go back to bed

Hubby had already found the sandwiches, so I found a bag of chips to go with them, and called it good. Not sure the weather is going to cooperate with me bagging up the rest of the leaves tomorrow or not, but I guess since they've been there since fall, it isn't going to hurt them to sit another day or two. Grass won't grow under those trees anyway, so at least the leaves keep the mud down a little.

I should have gotten my corn planted in the back garden today but the energy just ran out. Tilling isn't bringing up a lot of moist soil; and the rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow isn't supposed to add up to even an inch so I'll content myself with waiting to plant until after the rain; it beats having to water, and a later crop is still a crop - maybe Hubby will have all the raccoons eradicated by then - got another good sized one in the live trap in the shed today; and reset the trap for tomorrow.

Well, the Ibuprofen is kicking in, so I'm going to head back to bed; take care all; stay safe out there!

You're making me tired, Renee! DH tilled under the corn with plans to plant more, but we got interrupted by rain. Lots of rain! It's mid-June, and I think we have run the sprinklers twice to water the garden (just when teh new transplants went in ). I worked on cleaning my canning kitchen, washed some lawn chair cushions, and checked on my elderberry patch. I think I will plant the one surviving currant bush out there with them. I really really wish I had started a bunch of flowers this spring. Would love to get more perennials in, but have to figure out where I can put them where the cows won't eat them, or they won't get sprayed by chemicals.
