Do you remember the Paul McCartney song . . . "We're so sorry, Uncle Albert, but we haven't done a bloody thing all day . . ." ?

Yep, that's me today. I got up late, got side-tracked with stupid stuff, and just got laundry started several minutes ago.

Oh, well. Some days are like that. At least there's stuff in the freezer to reheat for dinner and still time to take my walk and maybe do my "Sunday drive" now, as well. My Sunday drive includes rolling by several new buildings under construction. I think one is going to be a Fast and Fresh (mini HyVee). I have mixed feelings: we really need a drugstore. On the other hand, if they have a China Express, that might be useful.

Onward!

Slept in - Thursday night I had only slept about 5 hours then had to go into a very busy day at work starting at 0500. I was tired!

Have 'piddled' around today, straightening things here and there. I did make corned beef with cabbage, potatoes, turnips, and carrots for lunch along with a lime-pear Jello salad. working on some things online and dealing with paperwork. Why do I have some of Dad's paper work from 2004 when he passed in 2014?

Hmm... I did more physically than I should have. And now I'm searching for a bookcase that will at least blend in with my current ones. Except, so far, mid tone oak is not a current color. And today's bookcases are almost a foot shorter.

Anyways, back to work.

SB, BBQ sauce is dead simple to make - catsup, a bit of brown sugar if you like it sweet, mustard, a few dashes of tabasco sauce, dried onion. Mix together in a saucepan and cook on low until done. If I'm using it on pork, I like to add a bit of crushed pineapple. Cook whatever you are putting it on low and slow.

I have several bottles of bbq sauce in my pantry, recently I was down to two so I replinished back up to 8. I mainly only use it on ribs about 4 times a year, but I have been know to add it to baked beans. I keep the open bottle in the fridg.

I'm still sorting through books. So far two shelves for Morgan and the rest for me.

I started sprinkling an hour of so ago.

I don't think I have any BBQ sauce in the house. In fact, I probably don't have any more A-1 Sauce. All that stuff was bothering my tummy. I use a little ketchup now and again on meatloaf sandwiches.

Yeah, I'm boring.

Went for a short walk. Went for a short drive. Lots of folks downtown in big, green hats. The bar crowd was spilling out onto the Square. Too cold and windy for me! Had it been warmer, I would've stopped and gotten a burger.

I'm home for the evening, now. I'm going to work on a puzzle and then read. That beats having to watch out for drunks.

*** Good News !! ***

My back mower tires and pop-up drain plug arrived. That'll be tomorrow's projects.

We weren't in mood to adult so got out to just take a drive. Stopped first to check on friend and found she died the morning after our last conversation. (Rest in Peace thread). Grabbed food and then just came home. Beautiful but windy day. So glad for all the recent conversations with friend. She's at peace.

Made a pineapple dump cake today - needed to use up some of MIL'S canned pineapple and cake mixes. Two of the things she became fixated on for a bit. Layered pineapple, cake mix, pecans, brown sugar and melted butter in pan. Really good. Really rich. Will probably freeze half of it.

MIL did not recognize anyone in a family picture I had on my phone last week. It was taken at her daughter's wedding and included DH, sis and their parents. I did notice she never called DH by name this time. She did finally connect him with the face in the photo. She seemed to recognize us but now I wonder.

Have both bathtubs and 1 toilet at rental soaking in vinegar. I put rags where I need rust, etcetera removed then soak rags in vinegar and keep them wet. It's amazing how well it works.

Checked our go bag in car. It's not about bugging out, it's about a sudden decision/need to spend the night away from home. Change of clothes for each of us, personal toiletries, portable charger and a 10 inch chrome book. This is the first time in our lives that we can even consider such a thing. I think I could get used to the option even if I am more of a homebody.

I have a recipe for making bbq sauce, too. I'm lazy and like the convenience of just opening a bottle. I don't store ketchup. That's one thing we can live without. Storing ketchup would be as bad as storing bbq sauce. It would ruin before we use it up. Thanks for the thought, though. I appreciate it.
