I am always so impressed with all of your progress each week. I think you all are amazing!

This week I have gotten my Jeep an oil change and inspection. I need new tires and brakes, but it was good enough to pass inspection. I knew this was coming and have been saving towards it, but still ……

Recently I have had my well check with my doctor, my mammogram and next week is my female doctor. I think it’s important (for me) to stay current with my yearly physicals.

Today I am going to run and pay personal property tax and drop off the real estate tax. I find it ironic we pay taxes on an item when we purchase it and then again yearly to own it.

This past weekend we got an IBC tote which will provide another 275 gallons of water storage. (Only $50!). We are thankful for that!

Work is giving us a turkey which I will get tomorrow (yay) but will also take advantage of another from Food Lion at .39 cents a pound. Food Lion also has blocks of cheese on sale for $1.50. Hubby and I are going to be buying like 70-75 blocks this year to make smoked cheese (hubby does on the grill which tastes amazing) to give out.

We continue to knock out things from our list …..

Slow and steady ….

Starting on Friday...Giant has turkeys at $0.37 per lb...

I'm still not feeling very well this morning. I don't know what's going on. I think I'm getting better and then, BAM, another energy drain hits me. I have no energy at all. My BP is good and blood sugar is good. I'm also sleeping pretty well each night. I really haven't felt well since the time change.

I do have to make a quick run into small town for a few groceries and stop in at the Wine Shop. That will probably do me in for the day.

Cary is sending off a few orders this morning for more odd and end things we want to add more of. Non food items.

Other than items to make holiday treats shopping is on hold, the pantry is full.
Thanksgiving will be dh and I. I have most of what I need except for the chicken. Neither of us is fond of turkey. Then Friday we will drive down to the lake and see family. Saturday I hope to go see my last living aunt who will be 100 next May.
That's all for now.

I'm feeling better but still not quite good. We went to church last night and I felt fine. About a year and a half ago the pastors mother and her husband started providing a meal on wednesday nights. Frankly I thought it was too much for one couple. A couple of other ladies helped them. Last year they stopped during the holidays and I had the big idea of DH and I doing it. It was exhausting. Now they are talking about rotating with different couples. I'm not going to volunteer. With out food last night we had a better Bible study, the food is distracting and we can eat at home.

There were still a few people out sick or avoiding being around someone sick. So it was a small group.

Another over cast day, but a bit warmer. It misted last night, just enough to have to use the windshild wipers.

We finished replacing flooring and are installing new water heater today. So glad DH has saved everything plumbing related over the years. Little connections are $30 to $46 each. We both hate plumbing but it's necessary.

While DH was busy, I went through more stuff. Found lots more jars. So happy with that find. Packing them in boxes I can lift. I have tubs but don't want to even think about moving big tubs full of jars. Moved my ancient and heavy microwave and then wondered why I didn't do so years ago. Much more cabinet space now and all I did was move across the kitchen. Thinking we should sell it with the house cause I am tired of heavy stuff.

We have lived in this house for 30 plus years and I have never rearranged things. Too busy raising kids and cows. Now that we are emptying it I am starting to love a bit of minimalism. We have to leave basics until we are finished with repairs but all else is going to kids, auction or trash. My big pantry is in the home we will be moving to. It is nearby.

Cleaned a fridge in the garage that had not even been opened since care of inlaws started 3 + years ago. Very cold fridge. Nice stash of cheeses. Scariest thing was part of a turtle pie that was perfectly preserved. Liquid carrots in a different drawer but this pie looked like it just came out of the box. What do they put in those pies?!!

More items on ebay. Sold a couple of things that have been sitting on there for 2 years. One of them was a piece of big heavy equipment parts that I was going to have to scrap when we moved. Thank you Lord for that sale.

Grand came over and helped. When he requested one of his favorite meals, one we have only occasionally, I realized another hole in preps. Had enough for this time but items are on my list for next trip.

Friend is taking the last of our chickens tomorrow. For the first time in 40 years I will not have to break ice for cows and ducks or swap out frozen frozen chicken waterers. I will probably buy eggs from neighbor. Not sure I know how to do winter without having to put on layers and carharts and do chores.

I could really use a do-absolutely-nothing snow day now.

So I looked out the window and saw smoke in part of the back yard. Its coming from a pile of old hay. DH is not around initially and then he comes through the woods on his tractor. He said he was burning the old hay and some brush. I asked him if he know there was a burn ban and he said no. So we spend the next hour or so trying to put it out. He hooked up a hose to one of the ICB totes instead of using "city" water. I helped some and got so worn out that I had to come in and rest. I am so out of shape

We are still eating on the soup I made a couple of days ago.

I was looking at my next grocery list and noticed that a case of vienna sausage has gone up more than a dollar. DH won't eat these at all, but I will from time to time. Kinda fills a hole when you are hungry and looking for something easy.

It was so dark last night going to church and coming home and it wasn't even that late.

Congratulations, kyrsyan...........
One of my goals with the new job was to get it paid off. I don't like having debt. And monthly debt like that means I have more stress.

After many years of not being able to get a job due to life restrictions, and then only getting low paying jobs, I try to keep expenses to an absolute minimum.

Now I have to pay off the fridge. I plan on doing that at half the amount I was paying for the van. And use the other half to get some home repair supplies, then to savings so I have a buffer for future life surprises. And then a garden trailer. Amd rain water system. Etc, etc.

So the practical of today. Got a row of onions planted. Almost have the kitchen clean. And more laundry. And yes, I got my walk in today.

My preference for planting is to cut the ground cover cloth all at once. But my body isn't real happy with that idea for 144+ plantings. So I marked the edges and I'm running a tape measure from one side to the other for each row. I'm using that to space each row. Fingers crossed.

Friend came up. He pulled down son's pool filters, hoses, etc. Left the system open to drain. Then he put tar on two of the tree cuts from the utility tree service. They made flat cuts and one was already starting to cave in. If left uncovered it would route water through to the tree center. We'll check again in a week to make sure it sealed. Friend was worried that the center would collapse some more and cause cracks in the tar. We just need it sealed until the tree manages to seal that area itself. Something it can't do very well when it's dormant.

Tomorrow is crack of dawn blood draw for son. Then he is hanging out with friend while I go to Joann's. I need some quiet time. Son has been in an odd mood lately but he was cheerful for friend this morning.

Then back home and working. Hopefully just in time for son's new movie phones to arrive. I really forget how long the phones last when the batteries aren't years old. I've gotten used to his old ones dying in 3 to 4 hours. His "new" one lasted all day.

I got a surprise package from Amazon today. Completely unexpected because I hadn't ordered it. It came from the same company that shipped my bulk hawthorn leaves and flowers. But no packing slip and they have no record of shipping it. And it's a food item, so no returns. I tried to return it. (Not for money but because it's not mine.)

Anyways, that's the non hyper happy dance stuff of today. My body is coming out of the recovery from surgery and seems to be in a better place for the moment. Hopefully things continue that way.

We got one day of my work done Tuesday. We plan to do the rest today if hubby is up to it. He was a bit better yesterday but his sciatica is really bothering him. But he can mostly just drive if he doesn't feel like walking much. He may need to get out his cane to use for awhile.

A guy hubby worked with stopped by the other day just to check in on us. So many of the guys they worked with are dying it is sad. But I guess that is how it is the older you get. This just seems more than normal.

We delivered the picnic table to our daughter. That is their family Christmas present. After our son in law got home from work they did s'mores and sat at it for awhile. The next day our grandson thanked use for it again. He thinks it's neat. Our son is still using his at their deer camp in our field. He got a small deer Tuesday evening. He can still get more. We can harvest 3 anterless and 2 bucks. They have been to populated and the state is trying to thin them back to a more reasonable number.

I have to get some things ordered for Christmas. I just don't know what to get. My niece messaged and wants to get together for a meal, but no gifts. I am fine with that. I may get the great niece something anyway. I bought for the other kids till they were grown. Katie is a teenager. She has 3 more years of high school. But I am not even sure she cares about what we give her. They have anything they want.

My thyroid issue seems to be doing well at the moment. I am mostly off my medication. I take 1/2 a pill about once a week or so. I have lost some more weight too. When I am not retaining fluid, I feel pretty good. I need to maybe go see the dr about my shoulder hurting. It didn't let me sleep much last night even with Advil. Tonight I will try Aleve. Yesterday was our day with the grandkids. When a little red head curly top toddler want Nana to pick her up; Nana does.

Hubby's up and I guess we are going to work.

It's raining again this morning. I think more is being given out in the forecast for Monday and Tuesday with possible thunderstorms. I'm so thankful for all the rain. Pretty soon, our burn ban will be lifted, I'm sure. We still need lots of rain to break our drought, though. Ponds, lakes, creeks, and rivers are either dry or very low. It's going to be turning cooler, too. Much more normal for us this time of year. It hit 75, yesterday, which is too hot for this time of year. We had the fan going.

I got up drained of energy again this morning. My whole body hurts, but I have a lot of household chores to get done, today. I came home from grocery shopping, yesterday, and after I got everything put away, one of our close friends decided to come for a visit. I just wanted to lay down and rest but wasn't able to. It was good to see him, though.

Off to do laundry........

I got a great deal on tincture bottles, so I bought a.....few. Like 20,000. Spent yesterday moving them from truck to storage, and today I am a wee bit sore. I've got to quit letting my brain that thinks I'm 20 quit writing checks my almost 60 year old body can't cover!!

OMGosh, Yes! That is something I'm not stocked up on, and living in the South, we have all kinds of flying insects even invisible ones. They come in swarms, LOL. Thanks for the reminder!

Just know that you need to keep them well sealed, or they dry out in storage. I found removing the thumbtack and microwaving older ones for 10-12 seconds softens the sticky stuff enough so they can be unfurled.

Just got my free turkey from work. I am thankful for that.
My coworker had signed up for one, and then her Thanksgiving plans changed so she gave me hers as well. I asked her if she wanted to put it in her freezer and reassured her it would freeze beautifully, but she wasn’t interested. Hubby and I will make good use of it. :eleph:

Lots of house cleaning in store for us this weekend as well as grocery shopping for Thanksgiving.

Son had a blood draw this morning. That did not go well. He then hung out with friend for an hour or so while I ran to Joann's.

Yes Bernal Velvet plus will work for son. So that will likely be the second tube. I'm making the first one with the Velvet in purple. I also grabbed some purple to make another friend a hat.

Work done. One more row of onions in. Walk done. Dinner tonight is rotisserie that I grabbed while waiting for Joann's to open.

Doing more laundry and working on the hat now.

Does anyone know where I can find the manual for a Kero-sun Radiant 10? I have a serial # but that doesn't seem to help narrow it down because there were multiple models. And my search fu can't find a way to tell the difference between the models.

I got a call this morning that a cousin that lives down the road need help to get from his chair to his vehicle. he'd fallen off a ladder and ended up with a big cut on his thigh. I grew up with this fellow but have rarely seen him in adulthood. Dh and I went over and helped him out of his chair and into his vehicle and then helped him get back in the house later in the afternoon. Its good to be able to help someone. Although when we needed help we could never think of anyone to call except 911. Actually it felt good to help someone and feel confident in being able to do it, instead of feeling fraigle myself. I'm getting better. Thank you Jesus.

Well, I got up feeling normal with lots of energy this morning. I'm taking full advantage of it, too. I really needed to do some indepth cleaning, so I got to it. Discarded a bunch of stuff that I no longer wanted or needed, washing and cleaning shelves as I moved along. I've still got more to do, but I'm taking a break right now. Laundry for the day is already done, too.

We should have 2 packages arriving, today. One from Walmart and one from Sam's. Should get the last package next week from AZO.

It's going to be nice, today, so Cary will be working on the woodpile while I'm cleaning.

All my Christmas shopping done but one thing which I will order for my brother right after Thanksgiving.

We are having 6 here for Thanksgiving and I finished shopping for everything on Friday. Got the turkey at publix for 69 cents a lb., though they went to 11+ pounds and then skipped to 17+ pounds, so we have a much bigger turkey than I had planned. Everybody goes home with leftovers though, so that is good.

Continuing to stock on OTC meds, especially cold meds. Paper plates have been on sale at great prices this last month for some reason (after having been really high for a couple of years). I have added quite a few to our already large stash.

Rotated out a 5 gal container of gas and put stabilizer in it. We have 4 containers and it is time for them to be rotated, so I will do that over the next couple of weeks. Gas here in north central Florida is now $2.92 a gallon.

Working the day. Question for those of you that have gotten starts from Dixondale before. Do they typically send this many extra (looks like 3 or 4 times the amount)? And is that just a them thing or is it expected that a lot won't survive the planting, and therefore I should plant them extra thick?

Because if it's just a lot of extra, I'm going to be calling friends and passing out extras.

Chinet paper plates were one of the items on sale at Sam's, so I added more to my large stash, too. I only use Chinet. They are stronger than any other brands I've tried. Now, I need to add to my stock of paper bowls.

Hi everyone! It’s been a busy week around here, way too many projects going on and upcoming projects to get prepared for so DH and I both are feeling more than a bit overwhelmed. He has been working on tiling in the bathroom as he can along with everything else he has to do and should finish the last few tiles today and have it ready for grout. It will take as long as it takes!

I‘ve worked on decluttering a bit this week, trashing some things and setting aside some things for donation. We’ve lived in this house since 2010 and I’ve still got a few boxes I need to go through, most of that will probably be donated. I’m making plans on how I want to get other areas of the basement organized so it will be easier to keep clean and neat.

I’ve also worked in both pantries, upstairs mostly organizing and putting away a few things, downstairs I finally got one of the huge metal shelving units emptied and the unit moved out, another one partially emptied so it could be moved across the room in front of another unit, all to make room for the wooden shelving DH is getting ready to start on. It’s not a very big room so I hope this will give him enough room to work because I don’t know where I’ll put anything else at this point! The wooden shelving will give us more storage space since we’ve had a lot of wasted space between the one wall with wooden built in shelving and metal shelving on another short wall. I still have some buckets to go through and more to fill up but there just isn’t room in there to do it right now. I’ve already had to move quite a few out of there until we get the shelving done but for the most part I know what’s in most of them. Oh, and I found 2 dozen 12oz jars of chicken I canned back in March! What I thought was two boxes of empty jars seemed pretty heavy when I went to push them further back on the shelf, lo and behold, more chicken LOL.

We’ve moved the canners, rings, lids, etc to the basement kitchen so I‘ve worked the past several days cleaning, sanitizing, organizing and putting those things in place. I still have a few things to get done but for the most part it looks great, I know where everything is and I will be able to lay my hands on things pretty quick and it’s ready for me to can in (when I can find the time). This makes me even happier than all the progress I’ve made on the pantries.

Everything is in for our Thanksgiving meal which we will be doing the Sunday after (Son-in-law family has more people and schedules to work around). We‘ve done some food prep this week mostly canned items that were on sale and I put in a small order to Sam’s for a few things.

Christmas shopping for granddaughter is done except for a gift card to her favorite local place to get ice cream after school. At 4 1/2 yrs she’s easy to shop for but her brothers, I’m still working on, at their ages they are harder for me. The oldest said he wants clothes and the youngest just wants more paracord to make things with. I was hoping to finish with the grandkids before Thanksgiving then start on the adult kids since we don’t do much buying for them, usually restaurant gift cards, cash to get clothing, shoes, etc.

I was planning on catching up on regular housework today but I’m so tired and I woke up with inner ear issues this morning and the slightest head movement sends me reeling. I‘m thinking all the dust I’ve been stirring up downstairs has is the culprit. If that gets better I’ll concentrate on my kitchen today otherwise I guess I’ll be a couch potato.

Moving slow today. Allergies. Found 3 heavy boxes of canned chicken and canned beef yesterday. Very happy to see them but will have to unpack them to move them. One of our kids is in middle of purchasing first home. This kid has already asked for a piece of furniture I got from my mom. Hoping she is interested in a couple more. I am not in a rush to part with the pieces but I do want to downsize and they would still be in the family.

Friend is taking chickens today. Will miss my spoiled friends but won't miss their winter care.

Hoping to find a ham for next week. May just have to make turkey tenders. For our crew that is 3 big iron skillets at once. But it is probably our last Thanksgiving in the house they all grew up in. Glad we have a turkey. They are $1.29 a lb in these parts.

Amazon has had packs of Energizer batteries- 2 dozen AAs and 2 dozen AAAs for cheap, with fast shipping. Bought one for me, and then decided to get one for DS, who seems to use a lot of batteries for various things. figured i might as well get useful prep items as a Christmas present along with the nice belt he had been hoping for.

Louisiana the voting runoff today. We voted and picked up free water at the fire station. then I treated DH to lunch (late for his birthday). We like the hamburger steak dinner, although it use to be 9.99 each and now its 15.00 each. We don't do that very often. I had not extra money last month when DH has his birthday, the electric bill is much less so I could treat him today. We each brought home about half of our meal, its large.

One of our nanny goats keeps getting out so DH strung some electric wire across the top of the fence where he thinks she is getting out.

He's gone hunting. I think he likes the peace and quiet in his deer stand.
