Good morning, All.

It's another watering everything day. Got that done, already. I'll be cooking up a lot, today, since I won't be home til late in the afternoons all this week. I'm making simple meals that can be heated up quickly in the microwave. Some will go in the freezer, and the rest will just go in the fridge. We can't afford to eat out every day, and I don't want to eat junk food, anyway. We might get one meal at one of our favorite "sit down" restaurants, though.

Tomorrow is big shopping day for the month. Replace, refill, and I have thought of several food items that I want to start adding to the pantry. A Walmart and Sam's order will be going out, too.

Tuesday, I have an appt. with my rheumatologist for a checkup. He'll do the usual bloodwork. I know he's going to make an appt. for me to see my urologist to have my bladder scoped again, too, since this last bad flare up with it. I've already put it off, once.

I looked at my sleep schedule on the FitBit. I'm betting that part of the exhaustion is that I'm not sleeping long enough. I'm apparently not coming fully conscious enough to realize it but I'm waking a lot. Probably apnea.

My deep sleep cycles used to be early and long. Now they are scatter, and while overall longer, each segment is shorter.

I decided to sleep later today so I shut off the alarm. It helped some. Not miraculous but better enough that I can focus and plan. I made a written task list so I could stop forgetting things. And I plan on going to bed early for the week because I prefer to work early and end my work day early.

Off to try to get a few things done before I have to take a break. Hopefully I can get most of the list done. I stuck with simple things.

It's a pretty fall day here - temps were in the mid 50's when I woke up but are supposed to climb into the 80's by mid afternoon. I'd just as soon they stayed in the 50's

Nearly all of the soybean fields in my area have been harvested, and the corn harvest is beginning. I'm glad that the field across the road is in corn this year - the bean dust seems to bother me a lot more than when the corn is harvested. The gentleman who owns the fields across the road is kind enough to let me walk the harvested fields before they turn the ground so that I can look for missed ears of corn to use to feed the wild critters that come in my yard.

The hummingbird migration seems to be nearly over for this area - seems a bit early to me but we have only a few hummingbirds visiting the feeders now; guess it will soon be time to start filling the other bird feeders again. The cousins plant a few acres to sunflowers and other wild bird feed and leave them for the birds to harvest, but I will still have to buy feed for the feeders up at the house.

I have been trying to declutter and simplify things here at home, but all I seem to accomplishing is moving things from one place to the other. Although, I did manage to carry out a trash bag of 'stuff', so I guess maybe something got done. I've also got a box of things to drop by the thrift store on Monday if I should happen to get to town.

Well, Hubby is home from his IDPA match so I suppose I should at least greet him before he heads downstairs and starts cleaning brass.

Take care all; stay safe out there!

There was a small group at church today because most, including the pastor, went on a whirlwind trip to Branson to see Esther and then to Eurike Springs to see the pasion play. They left Friday morning and got back this afternoon, too much driving for me. There were actually more folks at church that I thought there would be, it was a short sermon by one of the decons, but it was good. The sermon was on be the light.

We ate at mcdonalds and then a quick stop at wm. I only picked up a few things as I'd done a pickup last Sunday. This will be my last shop until the middle of the month. I don't need anything.

Lasing around this afternoon, although I did do a load of laundry. Two small loads to do tomorrow and I will be caught up. And only a few things in the kitchen sink, maybe I'll get to those tonight or not. Since I already didn't stay on my diet, we had hot dogs for supper, I couldn't eat all of mine, as we had two each.

DH has been secretly building planter boxes for the front porch railings. First one is 1'x8' with a divider in the middle. He made it from some cedar he'd already sawed the log into boards. I had two 1ctft potting soil bags. Almost two filled one side. He dug up some of the multiplying onions I'd gotten last year. So the one side is planted. Just filling the planter and planting that one side wore me out. It will be nice to have the onions right on the front porch to snip off some green tops for cooking.

Since walmart no longer has frozen kale I ordered what I thought was kale powder, but turned out to flakes. I added some to my stir fry and it was disgusting. I see myself powdering the rest of the container, it was not cheap.

We have just finished putting up all the groceries we bought today. I'm so tired. I made a huge score at the meat store. I was only going to be buying ground beef, but their prices on all their meat was so much cheaper than anywhere around in our area, I went ahead and loaded up on 3 chuck roasts, 6, 1lb pks of ground beef, 2, 2.25 lb packs of ground beef, 5 family packs of pork chops, and 2, 5lb bags of frozen boneless chicken breasts. I bought other frozen meat at Walmart. 2 boxes of the angus seasoned burgers, 1 pk of frozen chicken fried steaks, 2 large pks of Black Forest smoked sandwich ham slices, and 2 pks of Wright's smoked bacon. Both of my freezers are stocked to the brim. Lots of empty shelves at Walmart, but I was able to get everything on my list. The store is still under renovation, so that could have been part of the problem with empty shelves. You just don't know these days.

Like I said, I'm really tired, and Cary is, too. He fell into the recliner for a nap. Good thing I prepared all our supper meals for the week, yesterday. It will sure be a simple meal for tonight. Just pop in the oven for a few minutes to warm, and supper is done. Beef Enchiladas with extra cheese.

Sherree, good on you for the good prices of meat. I bought another package of the Angus frozen beef patties yesterday myself. DH loves a hamburger and I chop one uf for my stir fry. I haven't cooked any ground meat in the last few days and have been trying different things in my stir fry that did not work out well. So I really need to cook some ground meat either tonight or tomorrow morning for sure. Can't get back on my diet without it.

The prices on meat at this new store are insanely cheap! I can't believe I've been paying as much as I have for meat from Walmart compared to this, especially the beef. This store has their own butcher shop and can cut any meat to your liking.

I like to add thinly sliced beef steak strips or bite sized chunks of chicken breasts to all my stir fry's. I'm ordering more of the canned fajita seasoned beef strips from Walmart. Those are good in stir fry's, too. I added to my stock of frozen stir fry veggies, today, too.

Slow and steady continues for me.
I spent the weekend getting some organizing and decluttering done. Painted a small bathroom a new color (with paint we already had), and it looks great. Two huge bags ready to go to thrift along with another box of things.
I continue doing to same with the pantry organizing, dating, and condensing items. One day I will get it all done.

Got the water bill. Supposedly I doubled water usage in a month where I had been cutting back.

I turned off the outside sprinkler. I'm going to be watching. Half the times she had listed for water going were through the middle of the night. Or for 15 to 16 hours at a time. There is no way I have a leak that big and don't know it. Dad and I talked and we're brainstorming a few things.

Gosh, I know our water bill is going to be high. We've been having to water everything for over a month. We get charged a lot for each gallon we use over our limit, and I'm sure we've gone over it. Cary informed me today that we're just going to have to cut back on watering so much. I don't want to lose anything, though. We need rain, badly. It's to the point that it tastes like you're breathing in dust when you take a breath through your mouth.

Made it home from visiting mom and the kids. DD and DSIL (I think) have baby fever, so I may be a grandma of children yet. Right now, I have ...5 grand -dogs but no grandkids. Started early, so I made it home by early afternoon. I've unloaded the car (had to run by a town on the way and get chicken mineral and another town and get local honey), picked green beans, checked the storage trailer for furniture for the new wellness center I will be teaching at, sterilized bottles for product (right now, elderberry elixir and GERD syrup - later I'll do cough syrup that is safe for children and maybe a heart syrup), made up bottles of my adaptogen energy blend, and checked the emails. I"m hungry - I need to go eat!

Oooh - tell us more about the new wellness center, and the kid safe cough syrup, heart syrup, and adaptogen energy blend, please Moldy! When you get time, that is - you sound very busy!

I was tired yesterday late afternoon and Hubby had a motocross race on TV so I snuck in my room and plopped down on my bed to read for a bit - woke up at 7pm to Hubby puttering around getting ready to leave for work, so did get to have a little time with him before he left. Now I just hope I can go back to sleep pretty soon...

Tomorrow I have to run by daughter's shop to let a workman in; the thrift store is just down the street so if I can wake up early enough, I'm going to load up a box of the grandsons outgrown clothing and drop them off at the thrift store while I'm in town. Not sure if I'll get to go to the pool with the neighbor lady or not; it will depend on when the workman shows up.

Speaking of the thrift store, the crows have made off with the last of the bling I put out for them, but I found a couple more flashy earrings in a drawer so will put them out tomorrow if is it isn't raining. I love having the crows hanging around - they let me know if something is in the area that shouldn't be, and will often chase whatever it is off.

While I'm out and about, I'm going to stop at our small town grocery store/meat market - they have boneless top round on sale for $4.99/lb so I think I'll pick up at least a couple, if not more - one for supper tomorrow night (and leftovers for soup or beef and noodles), and one or more for the freezer. I should probably check the pantry and see how my stock of canned cubes of beef is holding out; probably wouldn't hurt to do a couple of canner loads.

Well, if I'm going to get up early tomorrow morning to get all that stuff done, I guess I'd better go see if I can catch a little more sleep.

Take care all; stay safe out there!

Nothing will be getting done today. My rheumatologist appt. is this afternoon at 1pm. It takes forever to get out of his office. I'll just be doing light housework this morning. This trip will take us into big town. I have no shopping planned to do there, unless I stop in at Sam's to get what I need, instead of making out an order.

Tomorrow, we take a friend to her doctor's appointment early in the morning, then she wants to do some shopping. This will probably be an all day job.

Thursday, we have to be at the medical center early in the morning for Cary's kidney and lung scans. If both scans are clear, he won't have to have any more done, and he'll be declared cancer free.

Friday, we can relax!

DH, granddaughter and I spent a big portion of the day outside yesterday, cleaning both front and back porches, which involved three of her favorite things, being outside, playing in the water and “helping”.

The front wasn’t too bad, DH carried the rocking chairs to the backyard and he and granddaughter cleaned them up, I think we’ll just use them out back. I took all the plants and the stand they were on off that porch. We still need to scrub the porch swing but I think we’ll do that where right where it’s at. I swept and hosed that porch off and placed the beautiful yellow, red and orange mums I bought from oldest grandsons FFA fundraiser.

DH finally has the little patio (aka his outdoor kitchen) he built to the point that his grill is now off the back porch and under roof on the patio along with the Blackstone he bought for himself a few months ago. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have that thing off the porch!!! We have an area on the bricks that have gotten smoke buildup on them from the grill we’ve got to figure out what to clean it with, soapy water and a scrub brush helped but didn’t get the job done.

The porch itself needed a good sweeping and hosing off which it got. I managed to move things to where I wanted them and even added a raised bed (on legs) garden out there that I hope to grow some greens in. My big pots of parsley, basil and rosemary are still hanging on so far, I hope to do more herbs out there next year. I have a lot of pots/planters out there that I need to go through, decide what’s worth keeping, clean up those and have them ready for any new houseplants, etc.

I put the “newish” entry way door mat from the front porch onto the back and a new one for the front should be here in a day or so for the front. They help so much in keeping some of dirt, grass, etc. from coming in the house.

The swings and rocking chairs need a new coat of paint, not sure if I’ll be able to get that done this fall or not. The ceilings of both porches need pressure washing and painting but that will more than likely be a spring project.

I am so sore, stiff and moving incredibly slow today so I don’t foresee me getting into anything much bigger than a few small odd jobs and resting up. I do need to decide something for supper tonight (I was very thankful to have plenty of leftovers from Sunday for supper last night) with everything else going on, hubby and I both just passed out early last night.

@SouthernBreeze I hope and pray you and Cary get only good news at your appt.’s

@ReneeT You reminded me I need to start another donation box. I’ve decided after the first two big purges of donation items that going forward I’m going to try and have a load every two weeks to donate.

I keep a bag by our front door and toss donation stuff for womens shelter as I come across it. Had a bunch of hotel soaps from our trips this past year. Divided them into zip lock bag sets and dropped them in the donate bag. Added some shirts I just don't like. Whenever I go to town bag gets dropped at their back door.

We had to make another trip this week. Thank God for hotel room credits. Spoke with Doug's family since we won't make it back for funeral. Checked up on Ron. He is doing great.

I have actually slept very well this trip. I never sleep well at home. Feel better than I have in weeks. Good thing cause I will have plenty of catching up to do.

We ran into some old friends from church and had a great visit. It always amazes me when we get hundreds of miles from home and then run into home folk. Ran into our neighbors one time in a Dallas, Texas mall.

Reminder: check to see if you have a lidocane patch in my purse. and get that bag finished.

Speaking of front porches: I was thinking about moving the 2'x2' square table that is on the front porch to the cabin porch, but I'm now thinking of not doing it. We sat in our nice comfy chairs on the front porch and had our coffee together this morning. Sitting there I remembered how handy that table was when we had our last power outage and I needed to cook out there. And I may have to do that again, so I guess I won't be moving it. Anyway the porch definitely needs to be swept. I love the planter box that DH put on the railing, he has it all anchored down so no issue with it falling off.

I wanted to go to town to buy more potting soil for the other side of the box and the other one he is building but he suggested we wait until after church on Sunday, so I will wait.

I am trying to remember to download a couple of instructional videos from utube to my external hard drive. That way if the power is off I can still listen to them by hooking my lap top up to one of my jackerys. Sometimes the down loads go really well and then there are times when it just doesn't want to cooperate.

Made elderberry syrup this morning and went to price it for sale. Gonna have to do snaller bottles...elderberries are up to $35/lb! I think last time i bought them, they were $14. Thinking of starting a thread in swaps for my herbal products. Just have to find the time.

I made it back from my Dr's. appt. He did lots of bloodwork and several tests. Since he took me off the HCQ a while back, I haven't been doing as well. He prescribed a new med, today, and hopefully, I can tolerate it. My kidney and liver functions are still in normal range, but there is some concern with my bladder from the last Lupus Cystitis flare up I had a couple of months ago. He put me on a strict Cystitis diet, since I can't take the meds to treat it. When I tried to take the meds, it dried me up so bad I couldn't even pee.

Anyway, it's good to be back home. Now, I can relax a bit.

Try Vitacost. They have the bulk bags of Frontier for $22. And right now they are on sale for 20% off.

I'm waiting for the elderberry baby bushes to be more than baby bushes. I bought Korsor and Samyl. They haven't really grown at all this year. I've put that down to the rough winter and this being their first year in the ground. But I really need them to grow. I have grabbed some organic fertilizer to feed them.

I do need to get another batch made. Maybe in a few weeks.

Tired but getting better. But I spent the morning dealing with getting payroll ID numbers, and getting them entered, and then getting the actual payroll done. Normally boss' job but she was in a meeting all morning so I had to jump in. Multiple phone calls. And, according to boss, a lot more information requested than most states ask for, but it's finally done. I try very hard to have all payroll done by Monday evening, so that there are no issues for paychecks dropping in time for people by Friday. It just grates on my nerves to still have some not done. And to have it take a large chunk of the day to get fixed.

The hormone they gave me to stop the bleeding is now triggering the other non fun aspects. So I have insomnia, night sweats, cramps, and migraines coming out to play. Right now I go to bed with a protein drink and a dose of Pamprin on the bedside table. It doesn't help with the insomnia but at least I don't have to suffer in pain. And I don't have to risk waking my son when I wake up. He has enough sleep issues of his own, I'd rather not make them worse. If I could start work at 3 am, I would. I might try that tomorrow. There is one client I can work on at the hour of the morning. But only one.

Holy cow! Where are you buying berries?!

Summerthyme
That was a quick look at Mountain Rose. I have enough for now, and I actually got a pound the first time I picked them this year (there are still a few I need to get off my bushes). If I was buying, I would be shopping around, but I was just trying to find a comparison so I would know what to price my extract at.

Today's the day the emergency alert goes off. My phones are off, but unless DH turns the power off the computers and tv's will go off. We are planning to turn the power off right after 1:00 pm, CTZ the alert is for 1:20. Its probably a nothing burger but just to be on the safe side I am turning things off.

Looking at the weather for today the high is low 80's and yesterday day may have been our last day of 90+ for several months. We'll see.

Well I don’t know how I managed it but I actually got quite a bit done yesterday, both large and small jobs. I moved more plants from the living room to the back porch as I have some that needs repotting. I got all the plants on the porch and in the house watered except I somehow missed my rosemary, so I’ll do that today. I finished cleaning the nicer pots and planters, then went through the rest and got rid of most of those. DH is picking up some bags of garden soil for me, some for the raised garden bed and some to fill big pots for next spring.

Our storm doors are mostly glass and I got both cleaned inside and out yesterday, they were bad, from dirt and grandchildren! They’re nice and sparkly clean now!!! But the metal part could use more work.

I did some cleaning in the house too along with regular kitchen chores but DH took care of supper last night by cooking smash burgers on the blackstone and baked potatoes. The burgers were yummy. We have 3 leftover so that will probably be supper tonight along with baked beans. I think I’ll make up some dip from the homemade yogurt to have with chips to go with the burger, the yogurt was great on our baked potatoes last night.

Today I got started again and finished cleaning up on both porches, they look so much better. I do have a few plans to make it more comfortable and I’m working on those. Now that the weather is cooling down and it’s actually clean and uncluttered, I’m more inclined to get outside more. DH has strict orders on not leaving tools, containers and any manner of junk out there as I absolutely despise with a purple passion, CLUTTER! He’s got many places on the farm and even in the house that he can clutter to his sweet hearts content that I say nothing about but please don’t do that in shared spaces!

I scrubbed the front porch swing, it‘s by no means looks perfect but it will have to do until we can get time to paint it but I’m thinking that will be a spring project. New entry rug arrived and is in place.

Next project on the list is the living room.

We found a good price on bacon so we stocked up on 12 lbs.

We finished our early morning run into town for friend's doctor appointment. Glad to be back home so soon, because she decided not to go shopping while we were out.

We have an even earlier trip to make to the Medical Center in the morning for Cary's CT scans. I have absolutely no idea how long those will take. Hopefully, not long, and we can be back home by lunchtime.

We get a break Friday and Saturday, then home fellowship, Sunday, and I've got another PC doctor's appointment on Monday for a checkup with him. He covers everything that my rheumatologist and eye specialists don't. Cary and I, each, have another doctor's appointment later this month, too. The 18th and the 25th.

I feel like I'm going in circles.

I have my three months check with my PCP on the 18th. I go every three months because they prescribe 25 pain pills a month, really like I could do any thing serious with that amount, and I don't take that many.

What I learned during the alert with our power out. I spent the time in our cabin sitting in the old lift chair. Its still very comfortable, too bad it doesn't lean back, but oh well. I tried to read but the lighting didn't cooperate. I need a floor lamp to attach a USB powered light bulb to it. powered by a battery pak. It would be a good place to do Bible study and prayer. I felt good vibes out there. No distractions. I need to put some gallon bottles of water in the bathroom to flush if needed.

Plowed and picked lots of peanuts but not done yet. Maybe by the wkend! 17 gallons of nuts so for. Received part of my medicinal herb plants and seeds. Time to move sweet potatoes to their final storage spot. Ate a few at supper and they were sweet so I think they are about hardened off. Purple hull peas should be ready to harvest in about 2 weeks. Lots of work still. My 88 year old aunt here helping us at her request! Can take the girl off the farm but can’t take the farm out of the girl! Works me under the table!

Made batches of elderberry syrup, cough syrup, and GERD syrup to take to the wellness center today. Worked out my first round of classes on the gut-brain connection. I'm hoping at some point to be able to video it, then put it on youtube or something to bring in a little bit of money. Got a few other things done; just trying to chip away at things. We're supposed to get our first frost/freeze (forecast is 30*) on Friday night.

Been going a mile a minute trying to get things organized for our hamfest (think a big flea market for amateur radio.) That's going this Friday and Saturday, so that's nearly over!
Got the beds ready to put the fall potatoes in...looks like the weather might actually cooperate for a change.
Looks like more solar panels are going up. Found some new for $120/370 watts...or 32 cents a watt. After the savings during this summer's heat, it won't take much for them to pay for themselves. Of course, their talking about highs in the 70s for this weekend, but that's ok...next summer is right around the corner :)

Be safe everyone!

We made it back from the Medical Center from having Cary's CT scans done. He won't get the results, until they call him from his urologist's office. I might take a day or two.

Now that I'm back home for the day, I'm doing laundry, and I've pulled ground beef from the freezer to can over the weekend. I've got other meats that I'm getting out to vacuum seal, too. I didn't get that done when I got back from grocery shopping, Monday. I was so tired I just put shopping bags and all in the freezers, until I had more time to deal with it.

After today, our temps are taking a nosedive. Fall is definitely here. Highs in the upper 60's and low to mid 70's followed by mid 40's at night. Only 73 degrees right now with a slight chance of rain, later. We need rain, badly. Everything around us is a tinder box.

I'm absolutely wiped. My imagination likes to occasionally have fun and toss worst case scenarios at me. I always laugh because it has yet to happen. Today actually came scarey close. At least I didn't end uo back in the hospital.

I did have enough energy to grab rotisserie chicken at Costco. Because I knew I would be wiped.
