Set Apart
The numbers from China regarding the number sick and the number dead do not match the level of response they are exhibiting with the lockdowns, and this weird-ass "hospital" they say they are building. Lump in the videos showing people passing out cold, doctors seemingly infected and panicked, and the general chaos, it's not a picture of something minor.

That's why we need to watch what they DO - and not what they SAY.

Actions speak louder than words.

I checked this out Capt. It was two patients. (Oct 6, 2014 article).
I stand corrected.

I remember one distinctly since I fly through OMA regularly for work and it was the day before I flew in after my hitch. Thought about changing my flight to SUX, but they had VERY limited service then, just to ORD and only 3 or 4 flights a week.

Guess the other must have been while I was offshore and out of the loop, we didn't have very reliable internet onboard until a couple years ago.

This^^^ If the US were to unleash biological warfare on China half to three quarters of the country would be dead or dying by now. And we have stuff that works much faster than the three week incubation period than this virus. Three weeks would give a country time to retaliate. Nope you want twenty four hours or less.

No, longer time gives deeper penetration through the population. It's like the plague - slow incubation gave time for ships to reach Europe. Faster incubation lets it burn out before it can get to the next town.

At that time, they only had two rooms available for treatment.

My workplace (very large) just issued a statement about this. The message gave details about the virus that we already know, and insisted that at this time, it poses no threat. However, anyone recently traveling who shows symptoms should don a mask and immediately head to a medical facility.

China has now restricted/quarantined 16 cities - total population in excess of 90 million people.
WuHan Solo: But Uh, everything is under control. Situation normal.
CDC: What's going on.
WuHan Solo: Uh, had a slight weapons malfunction. But, uh, everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
CDC: We're sending a squad up.
WuHan Solo: Uh, uh, negative, negative. We had a WMD leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak... very dangerous.

wonder how this would affect those who vape a lot?
Interesting question. Read an article a few months back that mentioned a study that showed those who vaped reduced their chances of catching colds. I vape and I though then, gee I haven't had cold in two years. (I did get influenza B at Christmas time).

That is significant and indicates why cities are being shut down.

If we knew then what we know now about the spanish flu, would similar measures been enacted at similar stages by any govs?... Dunno. Think its time to watch what we see in our own areas, and share with those of us state side...
We've known the numbers didn't make sense and that it was global for days, if not weeks...
What matters now is:. Whats the burger doing once it is here on the ground to our folk...

That they say they are going to build a hospital in 5 days shows the contempt the govt and media has for the general public. If they were serious, they would set up a MASH style field hospital TODAY! Anyone who knows anything about construction and logistics knows that you cant pave a parking lot in 5 days.

Of course the govt and media are relying on the ignorance of the mob to keep them calm.. this is the same reason the zombie movies always have electricity after the collapse as well.

If this is going to be a real honest to goodness herd culling pandemic, I pray that sanity and morality can be found standing over the ruins of leftism on the other side of this.
What they are building is a MASH type prefab hospital.

Here is my take on this. Presently we have 2 cases that are verified. One in Washington State and one in Illinois. Both flew here from China if my memory serves me. If we start seeing clusters of verified cases in those two areas, imo we will have a big f'ing problem. If we dont, then this is overhyped. YMMV.

Watching...waiting.

Tennessee Tech student undergoing testing for possible coronavirus infection

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- A student at Tennessee Tech University is being tested for possible infection with coronavirus, school officials tell FOX 17 News.

According to the university, health providers quickly recognized that the student met the criteria for coronavirus due to mild symptoms and his recent travel history, but the illness has not been confirmed.

The student is under isolation while precautionary testing is being conducted. As this happens, the university says they continue to stay in close communication with the Tennessee Department of Health.

"The Tennessee Department of Health advises that while we await test results, there are no specific actions other individuals need to take," a Tennessee Tech representative said.

The Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention is monitoring the outbreak of the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus. It was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and continues to expand, the CDC reports.

China has seen 830 cases so far, with 25 deaths due to the illness

I live next to a National park but way out in the boonies. No problem, right? Wrong! Several times a day tours buses stop at our local grocery store and McDonalds and drop off dozens of Asian tourists. These people were in Asia just HOURS ago! Think about that!
Yep. More Asians than Americans visit our National Parks. I worried about things like this all the time while working at Grand Canyon and Rocky National Parks.

Wuhan Health Services Deluged By Patients Suspected Of Infection By Novel Coronavirus; Military Doctors Rushed To City
24/01/2020 by Elaine Ruth Fletcher

With Wuhan under lockdown since Thursday, food in the city was reported to be running low, healthcare staff are having trouble getting to work due to the lack of public transport, and some hospital services were reported near collapse under the pressure of people waiting to be diagnosed and treated.

These were among the updates obtained by Health Policy Watch, from people in the Chinese cities most directly affected by the outbreak.

As of Friday evening, the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) – had infected over 900 people, leaving 26 dead, according to CGTN, the Chinese government-owned news service. Meanwhile, some 15 cases had been reported in seven countries, including 5 cases in Thailand, as well as one or two cases each in Japan, South Korea, the USA, Viet Nam, Singapore and Taiwan.

As of Friday evening, some 14 other Chinese cities, around Hubei Province where Wuhan is located, were also reportedly under travel restrictions, affecting some 37 million people, reported CNBC News Beijing Bureau chief.

Meanwhile, a day after the World Health Organization refrained from declaring an international public health emergency (PHEIC) over the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCOV), the United Kingdom convened its own COBRA emergency committee to review the outbreak – but concluded that the risk to British residents remained low.

In an attempt to deal with the spiraling case load, China’s national government dispatched 150 military doctors and medics from Shanghai to Wuhan; said that they were allocating some $US144 million in emergency funding to Hubei Province as well as building a dedicated hospital facility in Wuhan – the epicentre of the outbreak – to handle the growing load of cases of the pneumonia-like virus.

Scene at Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital, as portrayed by government-owned media, contrasts sharply with reports from local citizens of health system disruption and disarray.
However, the personal reports from average Chinese of health facilities disruption due to the halt in transportation services in and around Wuhan, contrasted sharply with the images on official Chinese media of well-equipped teams, responding efficiently.

As one Wuhan resident currently abroad reported on his social media account, “My cousin and his parents are suspected to have the symptoms, so they have been isolated at home as the whole healthcare system in my hometown has collapsed.

“Supermarkets nearby us are currently out of supply. Basic disinfectant and medical masks are unattainable. The Wuhan government clearly did nothing but watch Chinese New Year performances… some performers are already having symptoms. I am just too furious to say anything now.

“Please don’t hate us, we are victims too. It is those who covered truth from the public who should be blamed, and the ignorant – who love eating wild animals,” the Wuhan resident concluded.

The student was referring to the widespread practice of freshly slaughtering and eating meat from a range of wild birds, mammals, rodents and reptiles – one of which is believed to be the original source for the virus that leapt the species barrier. The traditional practice has come under public scrutiny among educated Chinese as the new coronavirus, similar to that of the deadly 2002-2003 SARS epidemic spreads internationally.

Wuhan Citizens Show Solidarity – But Local Government Officials Criticized

Privately, and on social media, local government officials were being blamed both for not reacting quickly enough, as well as for making hasty decisions about quarantine measures.

Said first hand observers to Health Policy Watch, “The decision to lockdown Wuhan was made quickly so nobody was prepared and panic quickly spread. It’s estimated 300,000 people left the city the night before. Everyone with cold or expression of flu wants to get diagnosed. Many people went to the hospitals out of fear, so the hospitals were overloaded.

“Medical equipment was used up more quickly. Doctors and nurses are tired, having burnouts and emotionally exhausted, and since the public transportation within the city was shut down, there are no shuttle buses for the nurses or doctors. Taxis don’t want to drive to hospitals either. And no one wants to deliver food to the hospitals so they can’t even order a meal.”

But while critical of local government failures, the observers were more positive about civil society response. Said one:

“People are really coming together to step in where it seems the local government has failed. Wuhan citizens set up volunteer groups on Weibo [the equivalent of Chinese Twitter] to help organize donations of masks and other equipment, coordinate with shipping companies and Wuhan police, and drive health care workers to hospitals.

“Hotels near hospitals are offering free stays to medical staff because of the issues they’ve had getting around the city.

“People are pretty upset with the local government because they think they are hiding information. The central government (i.e. from Beijing) issued a statement saying that any reports of underreporting or concealment would be investigated and dealt with, and a statement like that is considered a fairly serious warning.”

Meanwhile, residents in Beijing and Shanghai reached by Health Policy Watch said they had stocked up on face masks and food, and were staying home as much as possible.

“There was one diagnosed patient who went to a shopping mall 10 minutes from my house… luckily we didn’t go there. We have enough storage at home now, so hopefully it can get under control very soon,” one Shanghai resident told Health Policy Watch.

“I’m not going anywhere, like I am not moving,” wrote another young Beijing resident.

In these cities, public events associated with the start of the Chinese Lunar New Year had been cancelled, major tourist attractions had been shut down, and people were stocking up on food and staying at home voluntarily.

UW-Platteville monitors 6 students for coronavirus who just returned from Wuhan, China

2 minutes

PLATTEVILLE — The University of Wisconsin Platteville is monitoring six of its students who recently from Wuhan, China on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Two of those students are Wuhan residents.
The two residents were screened for the Wuhan coronavirus at O’Hare International Airport. None of the six students exhibit signs of the coronavirus but as precautionary measures, they are taking their temperatures on a regular basis.
Officials at UW-Platteville says the students are “currently living together in a residence hall but are not under any quarantine or isolation.”
UW-Platteville authorities have been in contact with Grant County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and are following all national and international protocols.
Statement from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
“UWM is carefully monitoring the coronavirus outbreak in China, in close consultation with local and state public health agencies. Those agencies have not identified any confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases at UWM, nor any suspected exposures.
“We are not aware of any students studying in or faculty working in China, although it is possible in a large university that a member of the campus community may travel without informing UWM.
“The health of our students, faculty and staff is a top priority at UWM. The university will continue to monitor the situation and respond as needed.”
