Yup.

Last year, I was on a dating site and it's UGLY. Most guys are looking for a "nurse or a purse." EITHER ONE will do.

The thing is, I'm 60 and while I am height/weight proportionate and healthy as a horse, I am also a solid 5-6 on the looks scale. I'm not beautiful and I'm not unattractive. I'm VERY average. And that's a deal killer for most men on these dating sites. How pathetic is that?

These guys are in their 60s and they still can't get beyond a pretty face?

Match dot com is an especially nasty version of "rate my face" and if you don't have "the look," you're in trouble.

So in the dating world, I have FOUR strikes against me: I'm average, I'm well educated, I'm smarter than the average bear, and I've enjoyed a lot of success in my chosen profession. Make it five. I'm tall.

And that's the trifecta of death in the dating world.

I've got 80-year-old married men hitting on me, and I have perennially unemployed 65-year-old men (on their third bankruptcy) wanting to snuggle up, and I've got morbidly obese men telling me all about their health problems, so for now, I'm going to travel and have a LOT of fun, and if it all works out, I'll die with $47 in my checking account because I'm going to be busy spending my children's inheritance.

But back to the OP, it'd be real easy for me to hate men as much as you hate women, because from my view, many SINGLE men are not just foolish, obtuse, shallow, small-minded and pitiable, they're downright ignorant.

However...I've also got many men in my life who've been angels and have helped me through the worst hard times. So I refuse to relegate an entire class of God's creation to the rubbish pile.

Man,i hate to harsh your buzz,but have you considered the possibility that you are just seen as a harmless old man,or worse ,someone who is to be pitied because they see you as lonely old man.There are many women that have a kind nurturing nature who are trying to show kindness to a grandfather figure.

So there is strength in diversity? I think the strength is in the diversity you CHOOSE.

I think my ISTJ German Engineer Housemate who has a Black Belt and does heavy armored combat fighting in the SCA (Middle Ages Club) would tend to take some issues with your theories.

I love my husband dearly but I know which one of my household members can fix the dishwasher and it isn't NIghtwolf.

Wow, with an attitude like that, I am not surprised that none of the flirty females comes up to your "standards."

I first noticed the tendency of some (not all) some men to start looking up "the nice girls" to see if they were still around when I was nearing 30.

That was over 30 years ago, and while it does make some sense, most ladies I know (including my younger self) did not really appreciate the:

"oh well, you weren't worth dating when I could still get laid by all the hot chicks but now that I want a combination broodmare, house cleaner, and second household income, I think you will do nicely."

And the main reason I stayed single after the second hubby passed away (25 years ago).

Hey guys! I got a brain and I know how to use it and did it very successfully too in a male dominated job. If I need muscle I hire it, even though there are a lot of things I can do myself.

The single women flood is crazy. I’m on disability and have more bad days than good. What I manage to accomplish on a good day beats many of what’s available these days. Enough so, that my bad days are overlooked.
Here’s the kicker. I am happily married to a small business owner. And women are looking at us, not just me. As a caveat, we live in a liberal mid size city, and there are plenty of guys desperate for a woman. They see a conservative couple who can change a flat, fix a garbage disposal, just basic tasks a teenager should do and can’t find men under 40 to do that. We’re pushing 50 and they are coming to us and making it known they’d be a third. We turn em down but, it just shows the times.

I see this all of the time on FetLife, it's a lot more common than most people realize. What I found even more amazing is the number of men who either fantasize about being cuckolded or those who are actively being cuckolded and actively search for bulls for their wives/partners.

I keep telling Orion Commander that there are gobs of single women out there that view his being married as a challenge! they're not interested in a long term relationship at all, they just don't want "that" other woman to be in a relationship either. I've never understood women like them... and I avoid them at all costs as they like to brag about their conquests.

i don't even know what you just said here. i am familiar with all of the words (except Fetlife?!), i just cannot comprehend how you have arranged them.

i can't wrap my brain around any of it...

FetLife is an online forum for people who live a certain lifestyle be it BDSM or they have a fetish of some sort and they go there to share with others. For instance, some men are attracted, and I mean highly attracted, to pregnant women or women with the "mom belly". I go there to collect anecdotal stories, etc., for white papers.

The rest of what I said should be self-explanatory... if not google it because you have boys and a daughter and may need to give them advice someday. The desire for open or poly relationships is very strong with today's youth and they typically like to hook up with an older couple as they often have money and resources.

yah......i get the second part, but i simply do not understand this kind of behavior. i mean, i know it is out there, but i can't imagine doing it on purpose, voluntarily, not under duress.

Hey, I'm not in the market (at all), but posts like yours show how it's impossible to satisfy wimmens these days. My IQ is a feeble 143, but I more than meet the 7" requirement. To the good, I'm the polar opposite of the introverted, bookish, "gifted" intellect, but alas, like so many of my inadequate brethren, I couldn't meet all of your requirements.

Life can be cruel. I had mixed feelings when I read OP. I didn't believe you could be so lacking. Maybe just loneliness. It happens. But I hope you find someone good and we don't have to suffer the end of the world for you to live out your fantasy. If Mad Max occurs NO ONE will be 'interactin', they'll be surviving.

eta: by surviving I mean: sweating, stinking, growing hangry, growing hair everywhere, hygiene gone, nerves nerves nerves.....no sleep.....

I had the proud opportunity to interview the man who was the only 'Grandfather' I knew..... (he was my second cousin).....never talked to anyone about his experience in WW2.......and he trusted me for my senior high school paper interview...... I asked about sleep...... he said 'we didnt sleep'....... not like we do now...... you would get thirty minutes and feel lluck
