Reminds me of something funny I saw on tv this morning. They had a feature on factories churning out surgical masks for all the people that are trying not to catch the Wuhan Flu. Talked about how demand was high. Talked about Americans also ordering the masks. The CHINESE MASKS......…..

Showed the little CHINESE workers, working overtime to make the masks. The masks that very well may already be infected...…...

Out of pan, into the fire.

Maybe they can be microwaved before opening the package.

I have a lot of dark humor about this. I try to curb it. Working for an airline I may not be a ground zero but I am on the expressway from there.

Sorry, no link. Someone posted an article speculating that the virus can spread on surfaces.

Most of the general stuff in Wal-Mart, for instance, comes from China and Vietnam and Mexico. If it lives long enough to be shipped over ...

Most of those shipping container freighters take months to get here, from what I've read.

Greta failed to straighten out China's climate problems. The air is really bad in cities. That could be one reason mostly older people are dying - significantly longer exposure to lung irritants and scarring of the lungs.

If you watch video’s from expat community in China they sometimes comment on the societal lack of response or help. Seems culturally your totally locked in on family unit and everyone else be damned. That would tie in with pictures of people down or collapsed and being ignored, this would not be be situation just from c-flu or Dr Trips.

Yes, about 4 weeks on the water and then usually a week clearing customs before being transferred to DC’s Can be anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks to hit stores from there.
Most of the factories are shutdown this week and won’t start opening until week of Feb 10th. With everyone on holiday over there.

Imagine this virus getting ...taking hold in the homeless population in say San Francisco or LA.

When you have generation upon generation of tyranny to the degree that the Chinese culture has been immersed in, being family centric makes sense. That was one of the reasons besides population control behind the one child policy to break that family chain.

China may get the re-education camps cleaned out. Maybe France will get a bunch of refugees cleaned out. Maybe Seattle/Portland will lose some Antifa.

Wait until it hits the migrant camps south of Texas.

If this Wuhan Coronavirus is causing this, we have a shit storm on our hands. In my entire career, I’ve not seen the flu cause folks to fall out in the street. If you don’t own one already, now would be the time to pick up some p95 or P100 particle masks.

I've heard it said that most of the time an airborne virus is picked up by being absorbed in your tears, not through your lungs. If so, a mask may do little.

Well..... uh, yeah. Especially with the homeless pooping and peeing everywhere. Germ factories.

That's weird. Normally, who dies of a contagion without a fever? What is the cause of death?
IIRC, this was also reported during the last Ebola scare. Some people's immune systems just don't respond well (in animals, I always dread finding a sick cow or horse with pneumonia and a normal body temperature... they are often the ones that don't respond to any treatment).

But I wonder if it has something to do with the recently discussed reality that many people have a "normal" body temperature significantly lower than the accepted "normal" 98.6. Those of us who run 96.8 or 97.x can have shaking chills from fever when our temperature registers 99.0. Sone medical professionals recognize this... many other refuse to. It could be the folks who are not showing "fever" actually are running 2-3 degrees above their normal temp, but it's not above the 100.0 or whatever is now deemed "fever" officially.

We start hearing about this hitting the Uygher concentration camps, expect the bioweapon charges to go main stream, particularly with the Muslim press. That definitely won't end well....

I was just about to post about this. I went over that link Mz Kitty posted earlier:

It is a good summation of a lot of the videos posted already in this thread. Does anyone here speak Chinese? I am wondering what the doctor in the video is saying on the phone. He sounds very upset. It claims that he is begging for help treating the virus but I am wondering if anyone can confirm.

The other one that struck me was the hospital medical staff collapsed inside hospital in white coats. That just looks freaky and chaotic like a dooms-day movie. I thought it was woo before but I am wondering if this isn't some kind of bio-weapon that got loose.

is there anything you can do to a mask you have been wearing to"CLEAN" it. i mean if you had picked up a germ in the mask, is there a way to kill it?

If in fact the morality rate is 3% now, then this matches up with the initial mortality rate of the Spanish flu. I cannot fathom quarantining entire cities unless China already knows what the lethality of this virus is intended to be. (Edited after rechecking some stats from the 1918 Spanish Flu vs mortality rate).

Probably not. Depends on what you consider a "mask". If you're talking about what you see everyone wearing on the street, sort of a napkin with ear loops, it's useless anyway. You'd do as well to wear a handkerchief. For a real filter, perhaps soaking in alcohol.

Most masks have a metal strip near the top of the nose that allows you to conform the mask to your face. I wouldn't zap them in microwave.

I have no expertise in this area but I have asked the same question to myself before and wondered if I could place a mask outside in the sun to let the UV light disinfect it without having to get it wet.
