Also notice the pole beans growing up the front of the chicken run. I call that my 'Bean Curtain" and it provides almost complete shade on those hot July and August afternoons

(LOL I wont forget that term. Definitely stealing it)

Thanks. It is the centerpiece of the garden and backyard. And the manure is the secret for the garden.

I must have missed your original thread, but just saw your pictures and just have to say, I love what you have done in your space over the years. We just moved to a new state and home, and I plan to use some of your ideas to set up gardening space, in limited space. Thanks for sharing! I also wanted to mention that it was so nice to see Timbo's comments on this thread in the beginning.

Good luck on the new place. Were you able to put in a garden this year?

Everything here is so green and abundant this year...Tomatos, beans, cukes and Zucchini are all being harvested already.

Check out the Fig Tree on the deck- it was a mere tiny shoot this Spring.

It looks great Imaginative. You sure have a green thumb and if you keep it up you're going to have a garden jungle. :) I just got my laptop fixed this evening so I'm ready and able to finally do some posting too. I'll try to get some decent pictures tomorrow. Thank you for sharing those. I never did get chickens btw even though I wanted to. Too many other things just took all my time. I do have a friend who sells me organic eggs from her flock and this way I get to see her every couple of weeks. I may still venture into chickens as the fertilizer would be great but I was told no roosters, oh well.

I'm doing the Back to Eden method as well and it's working out very well so far. Thanks Paul and all on TB who pushed his method.

I hope others share some pictures too.

OK. I'm OFFICIALLY jealous.

My major issue is that when we moved INTO this house in 80, the first thing we did was scrape and paint it...removing the HIGH probability lead paint, which fell to the ground around the house...thus tainting the soil around the house.

Second thing we did was to leave the small trees in the back yard (I was SUCH a POLLY DGI back then) and now the trees, while they assure us of shade for the back yard, also virtually GUARANTEE a VERY thin understory and NO gardening...

Which is OK since we will be outta here in a couple months (if all goes well, im'sha'la) and we can choose a better set-up.

Oh, you want to plant bee balm, and a couple of other native plants, spread the seeds this fall for your planting zone, and in a year or so all of that lead will be taken up by the plants and broken down.

I am absolutely in awe of your yard. If only mine would be as nice when it grows up.
