Sipping here drinking my coffee …. This week should go by fast, and then I am off a week for spring break.

This week (actually today) I will set my budget for the first half of the month and get meal planning done for the week. My budget doesn’t change that much monthly but I take a look at it twice a month (when I get paid) and set my savings goals (above and beyond the budgeted ones), look at monthly needs, etc. This has been very helpful for me.

Other prep wise news …. slow and steady will continue. More of the same. Continuing to organize and purge items no longer needed.

I think I need to do a purge here as well, briches - now to find the energy to do it :hlp:

Looks like we got a heavy frost last night - not unusual for April as our last frost date can come sometime in mid-May. I'm just impatient for the cold weather to be over... and in a few months, I'll be complaining about the heat

Plans for today:
*Scrape up some energy from somewhere - I had none yesterday so not much got accomplished. It might be a B-12 day - it showed a little low on my labs, so it wouldn't hurt to start taking it again. I used to just take it on work nights so kept it in my work bag; but when I threw the work bag away, I tossed the B-12 in my nightstand drawer and kinda forgot about it.

*I need to try to get some of the 'Spring Cleaning' in the main floor bath done, but it may not happen today. I need to wash the walls; then the wainscoting, doors, trim, and vanity need a good dose of lemon oil, as does the frame of the over the sink mirror. There is rain forecast to start Monday evening and it is supposed to continue in to Thursday so it may not get done this week as the lemon oil doesn't absorb into the wood well when the humidity is high. I could start on it today, but Hubby wants to do some stuff outside, since it is going to be a pretty day. I should probably just enjoy the opportunity to be outside - after all the frost burns off.

*Pick up tree debris and any trash that has blown in the yard.

*Laundry - where does it all come from? While I'm downstairs, might as well go ahead and dump and wash the cat box. I need to do some spring cleaning down there, but have to wait until Hubby is home as he doesn't want me on a ladder unless someone is here.

Rest of the week:
Go to the pool with the neighbor lady at least twice - need to get back in to the routine.
Take at least two boxes of stuff to the thrift shop - and DON'T buy anything while I'm there!!
Hit the nearby gun shop for small pistol primers - if there are any left. Sign up for a class while I'm there.
Call and make an appointment to do CD's (offset taxes).
Pick up the grand-dog as daughter and boys are going to visit the other set of grandparents over Easter Break.
Ask daughter to talk to the disability people again.

That ought to be enough to keep me occupied

Take care all; stay safe out there!

After 2 weeks, we're finally getting back to having our home fellowship/Bible study today with the gang. Everyone's power and water has been restored, but still no internet service for some in our group. Our cell phone service is still wonky out here in the country, too.

I have an appointment to see my rheumatologist tomorrow afternoon in Tupelo. The way we always go will take us right through one of the severely damaged areas out by the Medical Center. We'll leave early in case we have to make detours around it all.

Tuesday is grocery shopping day in Amory. It will be our first look at all the damage there. Walmart, Food Giant, our wine store, and TSC are in good shape. They are all on the outskirts of town well away from all the damage. The dry cleaners we use got a direct hit, so I won't be able to take any clothes in for a while there. I'm thankful that I didn't have anything at the dry cleaners when it was hit. It would have been a total loss.

Wednesday brings in rain and more storms for the rest of the week. I don't think the next round of storms will be severe for us, but who knows these days?

Hugs to All, and I'm praying that everyone has a blessed, safe, and productive week ahead!

Good Sunday morning all, I'm not sure its going to be sunny or not. I'm looking out my office window and all I see is glorious green. The tree right outside my window is really leafing out and in the background a sea of green. I like spring but not looking forward to the heat.

The inside of the sanctuary at church is being painted and they are not quite finished so church this morning will be in the fellowship hall.

I was just looking at FB and my sister in Mississippi posted prom pictures of her two grandchildren and their friends. Beautiful girls and not a fat one to be seen. The high school girls around here are mostly not just fat but very fat. my Mississippi sister has a lovely family, seems like the ideal American family.

I’m just trying to *survive* the month of April. :xpnd:

I have events EVERY. SINGLE. WEEKEND. I just made breakfast for a houseful of kids who slept over after kiddos Airsoft birthday party, we have house warming parties, weddings, and end of the month, we’re taking a big camping group up to Oklahoma for a fly fishing trip. Im tired just thinking about all of it. Wish me luck, LOL!

Made myself override the body desire to just sit still/sleep. Got some dishes done. Have laundry going. Managed to repot all the baby blueberries in the hope that it will help them survive.

The blackberries, raspberries, and aronia berries are all doing well in the original store bags (with a few modifications) while waiting for the weather to warm enough for planting.

But all of the blueberries are having problems and dying. So today I got them all out of the bags, scraped off all the extra soil that was not part of the original plant plug, and put them in fresh soil. The extra soil stunk a lot. Makes me wonder of someone put them in a soil with a fertilizer. Baby blueberry plants don't respond well to fertilizer.

I don't know what's been dragging my energy down so much but I'm over it already. It's the wrong time of year. I'm going to make myself get asparagus roots in the ground this week. Every day.

Happy Sunday!! We had an awesome service at church, as usual, then went out to eat with most of our family to celebrate our youngest son’s birthday.

I finally got some lettuce and cabbage planted and have made arrangements to pick up some tomato and green pepper plants later this week from a friend who has a greenhouse.

Hubby will be going to pick up another load or two of wood tomorrow.

I’m about to go out and pull up the baby pine trees that are coming up all over our yard and garden, even in my pots outside. It’s crazy how many there are!

Have a blessed week!

We had a great time with the gang, today. I think all of us are still in a bit of shock from all the damage all around us. DDIL and her family are from Montana and have never experienced tornadoes or seen firsthand the destructive power one can cause, until now. We have another possible round coming in later this week, and they are already scared to death.

I haven't done anything today. I'm still hurting pretty bad in my shoulder. Hopefully, tomorrow my rheumatologist can fix me up. All this stress isn't helping.

Cary is going for "carry out" pizzas for our supper tonight. Made just the way we like them at the best little pizza joint around in our parts. Mom and Pop owned.

With FJB outlawing incandescent light bulbs, I just ordered another package of 100 Watt Rough Service bulbs from Amazon. We use them in our homemade cattle and chicken water heaters. Turn 'em on and off with Thermo-cube outlets.

After buying several of the galvanized water heaters over the years ( at >>$60 ea), I decided to build my own. Our grain store sells galvanized feed pans that are about 18" wide and look remarkably like the heater devices.

1680467463738.png

I placed a ceramic light fixture inside it, put a 100 watt rough service bulb in it with a round slab of rigid foam on the bottom. Then powered that up through a Thermo Cube (available at most grain stores as well as Amazon).

1680467463851.png

Now, when (if) the light bulb burns out, I can easily and inexpensively replace it and be right back up and running again.

The livestock water heater consists of a shortened 50 gal. PVC barrel inserted into a shortened 65 gal. overpack barrel with expanding foam between the two. A wooden lid with a hole large enough to accommodate the five gallon water bucket

and two ceramic light fixtures under the wooden lid, once again switched with the Therm-Cube inserted inside with the light fixtures.

Hope your Sunday evening is restful! Every Sunday we forage and mark our findings! Makes for an enjoyable couple of hours. I did transplant some ferns from the woods. Hubs got a scoop of dirt from the river bottom for my new flower bed. This week my BIL sees the oncologist for the first time. I am afraid chemo is in his future which means our schedules will be altered greatly as we will be transporting and caring for him.
We are planting this week if the rain holds off. I am not counting on that.
The children celebrated Seder today during church. It seemed really special!

I just checked our weather and we are under a tornado watch, looks like some rain and thunder later this evening.

So we went to church, it was good, and then on to road kill cafe. We got home before 2:00, I changed clothes and then got in my chair and woke up around 6:00. Out like a light, that chinese really makes me sleepy.

I'll get something around the house done tomorrow.

Sort of dragging today - our band had a gig last night and I didn't get home until after 4 am...so of course the neighbor lady (who is moving in a couple of weeks) calls up early to see if there is anything in her garage that I would like before she hauls it off. Food dehydrator, Food Saver, hundreds of feet of Romex wire, restaurant-grade pots and strainers, full propane bottles, surplus equipment, misc. tools...all US made...and she absolutely refused any cash. I felt bad at that point, but she said her late husband had wanted me to have what I could use.
All of the elderberry starts are looking good for only being in the ground a week. Keeping my fingers crossed on them. Asparagus is done for the year, but what we got was GOOD! The replacement tomato plants (first ones got nailed by a late freeze) are doing well, but I'm still perturbed since the others had just started to set fruit.
Going to call it quits for today. Have an early appointment to take the wife's car in for some minor service.
Be safe, all - especially those in the path of severe weather!

I’ll be washing dishes and laundry for the near future, the dishes won’t take long but washing clothes and putting away what is already clean will be taking up my time for the next couple of days and I’ll be spring cleaning in those areas as I go.

I’m dusting and sweeping in the living room regularly and keeping it clutter free. I think dh doesn’t think I can keep it clutter free. Lol

This early evening I will be headed into “big town” to meet a couple of friends for dinner. I think I will hit a Lidl or Aldi while there to pick up needed groceries for the week.
I also have a $10 Barnes and Nobel gift card to use up. Not sure what I will find ….
I will be topping off the gas tank today as well. I tend to top off when I get to half a tank, but am going to try to attempt the frequency even more so.

Rain with some thunder boomers last night. Our front yard looks like a river running through it. There's just no where for all the water to go anymore. The ground has been saturated for months now.

Nothing planned for today, except my doctor's appointment. My shoulder is hurting so bad this morning that I'm actually glad to be seeing him, today. My appointment is at 2pm, but with possible detours, we'll be leaving here early. We'll eat in town, before coming home, since it'll be a while at the doctor's office. He wants to do a bone density test, today, too. I'll get any RX's filled at Walmart in Amory tomorrow, since we'll be there buying groceries.

We're still having glitches with our power, cell phone service, and internet this morning. All of these services come to us from Tupelo, so it might be a while, before all the problems with the damage gets worked out.

We had some heavy rain for what seems like a few minutes and then it was gone.

My body must still be on Sun time, I just can't seem to get up much before 9:00 am or later which puts me later getting anything done.

Our temp is supposed to get up to 89 today. DH husband told me we need to turn on the central air at some point, and I agree. It didn't cool off much last night, it was 77 in the house when I got up.

Its overcast outside.

I'm having a hard time believing I will ever see spring. We got 3-4 inches of snow last night, another 2-4 in the forecast for today, and I quit taking scraps out to the compost pile because I was tired of falling in the 2+ foot drifts.

Last year I already had cabbage, broccoli, onions and peas in the ground and growing well, I had the potatoes in, and I was prepping the soil for tomatoes, peppers, and squash. Highs are in the 20s and lows in the 10s for the next 3 days. We are supposed to break 50 degrees on Saturday, but I am afraid to get hopeful.

Its hot in Louisiana, but that is normal. I'm pretty sure we've had our last frost.

Northern Nevada. Formerly known as the desert.

Actually, we're in a tiny ranching area that in normal years gets a fair amount of rain and snow (for the West) in contrast to the desert several miles away. The long-timers say they've never seen a winter like this. There were a few days DH and DD couldn't even come home from work and had to stay with relatives. And a few days DD had to park at the bottom of the 1/10 mile long and very steep driveway due to overnight snow forecasts. Those were "Take Your Sled to Work" days. (Or at least, to the bottom of the driveway. A treacherous 10-15 minute hike was reduced to a super fun 30-second sled ride.) I think we've had 4x the snow we had the previous two winters here.

The weather the last few years has been really weird. We hardly ever get snow anymore. We're lucky to get one good snow a year.

The garage is full of baby plant starts - some will go into the ground this week. Need to hook up the rain water catchment system and make enough natural fertilizer for the season. I do the JADAM method of natural farming. Highly recommend.

Just this week I decided to add 180SF of raised garden beds. It's a bit late in the season to make that decision but I'll make it work. This should increase my harvest for a total of 1,000 lbs. of yummy stuff.

Still working on strategies to keep varmints out. None of the pellet gun practice, coyote urine spray, determent pellets or bear mating hormone works on Ky varmint. Built a fence and the rabbits dig under it, the raccoons climb over it and the squirrels fly in from tree limbs above. I have no idea how the ground hogs and possums get in but everything wants to eat what I grow. I keep eight traps out and they are all full by the end of the day - but only after Mr. Varmint chews up garden stuff. I'll add some noise makers on a tripstring and motion lights to see if that helps.

I'd love any ideas that work for you!

We made it to my doctor visit without any real problems. No detours were needed, because we went a different way than usual.

On top of having Lupus, Sjogren's Syndrome, and Raynaud's, I was diagnosed, today, with Peripheral Artery Disease. The x-ray my doctor took of my right knee showed calcification all the way down the artery in my leg below my knee. Now, I've got to make an appointment to see a cardiologist. I'll wait for my PC doctor to make it next month when I see him. I have to be referred by him. So, a new adventure awaits! :( If I hadn't had the x-ray on my knee, I wouldn't even know I had it.

It was just the same old standard stuff where the Lupus and Sjogren's goes, today. More RX's for eyes and inflammation. He was more concerned with the PAD that he found.

We ate at Chick-fil -A for supper. It was warm enough today that I got a chocolate milkshake with my meal! 81*, and 89* tomorrow. Will be a perfect day tomorrow for shopping ahead of all the rain and storms. My grocery list isn't too big this time, except I've got a good bit of meat to buy that I need to refill a hole in one freezer. Also, more ground beef to can. I'm still in the "use one, buy one to replace" mode. Not so much adding to what I already have.

We'll make a stop in at the garden nursery while in town. I want to buy more tomato and pepper plants to go with our seedlings. I'd like to have more varieties. Their plants are always so healthy and lush. I lost 4 azaleas in the deep freeze this winter, so I need to replace those, too. The others don't look to be in real good shape, but hopefully, they will come on out and be ok. Hanging baskets of ferns for decoration are on my list, too. I always plant marigolds in with all the tomato plants, but it's a bit early to buy those. Will wait on them, until it's time for the tomatoes to go in the ground. I like to buy the marigold bedding plants. By the time the raise beds are all planted along with all the marigolds mixed in, everything looks so nice, bright, and pretty.

Anyway, I'm exhausted from the adventure today. My shoulder is still painful. I think I'll get in my recliner and hook up my heating pad. Cary is watching a soccer game, and I'll probably read.

Continued prayer for you Sherree.

I didn't get as much done today as I would have liked, I just could not get motivated. But I did make headway in the kitchen and got two loads of clothes done, more to be done, although the clean clothes that need to be folded and put away far out weighs the ones that need to be washed. One thing I'm doing is washing cold weather clothes to be put away for the season.

Tomorrow is another day Scarlett.

I have a doctors appointment on Thursday, just my regular appointment to show my face to get the few pains meds that I get each month. I have to do that every three months. Mostly I have not complaints that I will talk to the doctor about. Some issues I'll continue to either live with or take care of myself, nothing critical, just aging issues that I'm not interested in taking pharmaceuticals for. I saw a video about frequent urination saying B1 (thiamin) will help. DH and I are both taking it now. I need to get more and also get back on my other supplements.

Morning all.
As an aside, gas is jumping it seems over the recent OPEC news. It was $3.35 and I prices going to $3.69. I did find a station still at the $3.35 price. If you are out and about, you might want to top it off.

While in “big town” last night, I never made it to Aldi or Lidl. (I had enough with people at that point.). Nothing had happened, I was just ready to be home in our more rural, small-town setting.

Preps this week will be picking up our taxes that were just done (hope it’s not too bad,) and will schedule an oil change for next week.

I haven’t meal prepped for our week and need to …..

Hubby got my kitchen sink plumbed Sunday. It took longer than it should, but he did a great job. The new drain pipes look better than the ones the professionals put in when we built the house. Part of the plumbing was one of the few things we hired help to get finished. He was about to start working 12 hour days 6 days a week and we would be at a standstill.

Hubby still has some pain in the kidney area. He wonders if there is still a larger chunk of stone left that did not get broken up. We went to town to meet our daughter at the dr clinic. The baby had a check up. She is doing great. We took the 5 year old to Neighborhood Market so his mom would only have the baby to tend to. Hubby sat at the pharmacy because he was hurting and waited for the pain to ease up. One of the ladies from the pharmacy came out to see if we were waiting for a prescription or if he was ok. I thought that was very nice. He had sit about 20 minutes or more as I gathered stuff and brought back to our cart and took the grandson to the bathroom. I found large bottles of windex on clearance for $1 and a large bottle of Arm and Hammer laundry soap for $5.

I hope to plant my potatoes this week. I am way behind. But it is what it is. I will cut them today and hopefully plant Thursday. I need to start tomato and pepper seed too. I have cabbage ready to go out in the garden. I think the second hot wire is going to keep the chickens out of the garden. They stayed out of it the last 2 days. I had to fix the fence on the lower side. Something got into it and pulled a wire loose. Hopefully whatever it was won't be back. It was probably a deer or a dog.

I want to do 2 loads of laundry before the storms get here. Our dog knows storms are coming. She wanted to come in this morning.

I have been going through things in the cabinets. I have gotten rid of some stuff and need to get rid of more. I am going through it as I put stuff back. Today I have to get things in pretty good shape because the grandkids come over Wednesday.

I have not been sleeping well for months. Lots of crazy dreams that have me tossing and turning. Last night I took 2 probiotics and slept so much better. I had only been taking 1 at night. There is a gut to brain connection. I may need 2 again each night.

Prayers added! You might look into LDN, it's being used for autoimmune issues, as well as other things.
Only problem is that you can't use it with opioids.

What is LDN? I take Prednisone and Solu-Medrol and Depo-Medrol injections in the muscle of my hip. I was taking HCQ, but I can no longer take it, because of eye problems.

You ladies are in my prayers ever day. So many issues as we get older.

Looks like the sun is going to be out, maybe. We have some rain coming in the next several days, but it doesn't look like anything drastic. DH planted 6 tomato plants that he got at walmart, but we need more, I want a couple of the grape tomato plants. My favorite tomatoes, that the name escapes me, are more from south Louisiana, I've tried to grow here but they just don't do well. I've no clue what DH is going to plant, he doesn't have a lot of success, the soil is sandy and its an issue for him. Its so different than what he is use to in Illinois, he was a master gardener there.

So it looks like a goat that has not had babies in the last couple of years is prego, it will be interesting to see who got to her.

Back to laundry and the kitchen again today, maybe I'll make a dent in the laundry, the kitchen is getting there. So much to do so little initiative to do much. What happened to my spring cleaning, although I'm dusting and sweeping in the living room to keep that up.

I'm just feeling overwhelmed this morning. We're going to do grocery shopping and come back home. I guess I'm a bit depressed over the new diagnosis. I told Cary that between all my doctor appointments plus all of his, we might as well just move to Tupelo. Seems that's where we're going to be spending most of our time going from one doctor to the other. I have 2 more doctor appointments this month. One of those is for more dental surgery, next week. The 21st is to see my eye specialist. May 3rd to see my PC doctor.
