got your hands full, bless your heart. Is your son full size for his age? I'm just trying to get a mental picture of what you deal with. I loved my sons when they were growing up (I still do love them) but would have a hard time dealing with 6' plus men.
Yes. He is 6 ft. And hitting another growth spurt. And a bit over 200 lbs.

There is a running "joke" that I have used basic self defense moves so many times that they are now instinctive. And I have, although I use modified, gentler versions. And mainly hold releases. That doesn't mean he doesn't occasionally surprise me.

Nowadays he is very rarely aggressive. But pain can be one of the triggers. The interesting things is that he was actually trying to control himself last night, despite the pain levels and layered issues. He is slowly getting better control and comprehension that I am paying attention and trying to help him.

He is settling down some today. I asked friend to grab him more putty when at the store. He loves that. He uses putty as a stim that helps calm him. And while I hate cleaning up styrofoam, I gave him the flat pieces from the light packs because picking at them is another calming stim.

All in all, not going out today was best. The new lights are in, and I like them. They provide better lighting. Only one more light fixtures to replace and I'll probably order that next week.

I am debating replacing the outdoor light at the front door. But that will wait until I find one that I think will fit the house. And I'm considering finding one that can protect a small security camera. We've also got the transformer for the video doorbell to install. We're just waiting for the squirrels to leave. But I may end up putting out poison for that issue.

Emotionally tough day at work (the patients, not me or coworkers). Did manage to do a little cleaning and start the brisket marinating for Sunday.

I rarely cry at work, but finding a 20+year old is still in ICU (from complications of cancer), hearing a 30 year old cry over a cancer diagnosis, and a woman losing a pregnancy just put me over the top today. I would appreciate some prayers. I know that God allows things to happen to us so that we can help others in the same situation. And I"m glad for that - it makes having cancer seem a little less purposeless. But three in one day was kinda tough.
You have my prayers and for the families mentioned.

Praying for all here.
It is spring break for me this week! I am thankful for a little break before winding down before summer. I am having a weekend with my youngest son (22) just the two of us. I will treasure thus time together.
I need to run out in a bit and deliver some an Easter basket I did to a nursing home resident I “adopted”. I try to drop off weekly treats as I can. While out, I will pick up any groceries needed for the week and will most likely pick up a couple of spiral hams to put in thr freezer (one is thawing now). They are on sale for .99. Such a great deal.

Well, there was a styrofoam explosion. And he turned on his LED tornado lamp at some point during the night. But we both got decent sleep. The wound is currently stabbed over thoroughly and he, at the moment, seems disinclined to mess with it beyond putting neosporin on it.

I'm going to see if I can find slightly smaller versions of the tornado lamp. It has a battery option but it's a bit large to tuck in a go bag. If I find one, I'll get one for his bag and one for the car.

And yes, his go bag has a lot of sensory distraction items tucked into it. As does the car. Because if there is an emergency, ways to keep him calm become mandatory. I'm probably even going to add some of the light up pop tubes.

Rain, rain, go away! It was still raining all night, and it's still raining this morning! High temp for today is 62 degrees. What happened to our 85 degree temps? After today, the rain is supposed to stop for the next 7 days, at least. Temps will be back in the 70's and mid 80's once again. Hopefully, we'll be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and be able to get our garden out. Our target day is still May 1st, but a little earlier will be fine as long as the soil has warmed up enough. We have made the mistake in the past of putting tomatoes and peppers in the ground too early, before the soil is warm enough, and they didn't do well at all. They love heat. At least my walking onions, chives, and garlic are doing well. Those beds have good drainage, so they aren't waterlogged like the rest of the garden area.

Nothing going on, today, except waiting for tonight when we go out to eat with the gang. DS chose a nice Mexican restaurant for us to eat at. Cary and I have never been there, but if DS recommends it, it's going to be nice. DDIL made reservations.

Cary had a book recommended to him by a friend written by Jonathan Cahn, so he'll be ordering it, today, and I'll start my Sam's list along with my next grocery list, today, too. Seems I'm always making lists of some kind, LOL. If I don't make lists, when I walk in the stores, I go completely blank. I'll forget half of what I went after.

8lbs of ground beef is thawing nicely in the fridge. Will be a joy to get all that canned up. I may cook it out tomorrow and wait to actually can it Monday. I'll for sure get it canned by Wednesday. I have dental surgery that day.

The rain we anticipated didn’t get here til this AM, so all our garden things got done! We harrowed until after dark but it was worth it. Today we are cooking…I say we because hubs and I do most everything together…and making some decisions about going forward. While we have a plan and follow it we are always willing to update, reconsider, and revise!

Looks like the rain has stopped here after three days of constant rain. Our temps are like yours Sherree, but its ugly outside, no sun for the next several days. The temps will be inching back up to the 80's by the end of next week.

Six inches of rain in 3 days. Some peas washed away so will replant.
Corn survived. Going to try vertical squash plants this year and some plants and regular hills on others to see if the vertical really help keep down squash bugs.

Since nothing really is going on today, I thought I would do some research online about the best diet for Peripheral Artery Disease. It seems the Mediterranean diet is the best. I think I'm going to switch from the keto diet to it. Now, to make out a list of what I can and can't have! I'll need to be tweaking my grocery list a bit, too. Will it be too little too late? I fear vascular surgery is in my future. I really don't understand it. I have never had high cholesterol readings, ever.

Your cholesterol has nothing to do with your issue. The cholesterol thing came about to sell more BS to people to get them to buy into their drugs. The Mediterranean diet will help your health as long as you don't twik it. Keto is also helpful for health issues but you do have to stay away from carbs.

Back in my 40's my doctor told me I had high cholesterol, but it was under 300 so she said I needn't be concerned. Then "they" changed the numbers to get more people on statins. I use to work out with a nurse who firmly believe everyone over 50 (I think) should be on a statin. She was upset because her numbers were so low that her doctor would not put her on them. Insanity.

Higher cholesterol than the now norm runs in my family and no one died from heart disease or had heart attacks. Mostly they died from smoking or drinking.

At 76 I have never ever taken a statin, my VA doctor doesn't even check it anymore because its a waste of money to check something that I'm not going to adhere to, smart doctor. I could drop dead tomorrow but I've had a good run. I've mostly eaten, what I consider, healthy and I have not chronic health diseases. Although I do have joint issues and allergies.

On another note, yesterday I went looking for something in the pantry room. Way down in the northwest corner on the floor I saw daylight. When DH built the room he used particle board on the floor. The weight of the food on the shelf in that area crushed the floor. DH is out there jacking it up and adding strong braces. And he's actually had to do that in the last year or so to a couple of other spots. Bless his heart he has to crawl under the floor to repair it. He's a wonder and a blessing.

The sun has come out, another blessing.

I thought it was calcium build up in the arteries from high cholesterol that causes PAD. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know. Maybe someone like Renee or moldy (them being nurses) can correct me if I'm wrong about that. My dad did have high cholesterol and high blood pressure and died from renal failure due to lack of blood flow to his kidneys from PAD. He even had a stent put in. His heart was the same, but the renal failure caused his death, although, he did have a mild heart attack, before his kidneys got so bad. The lack of high cholesterol readings on my count is the reason I'm wondering why I now have PAD.

I soaked a two pound bag of large lima beans in boiling water for about an hour and now they are rinsed and in my crockpot along with a good pound of our bulk pork sausage. That's what for Easter dinner, I'll probably make cornbread too. Come to think of it I think I'll go make a strawberry rhubarb pie for DH, its his favorite and he worked so hard on the pantry floor today out in the cold.
