What is LDN? I take Prednisone and Solu-Medrol injections. I was taking HCQ, but I can no longer take it, because of eye problems.

I took it for a while during cancer treatment, haven't gotten back to it because it interacts with ivermectin, I thought the ivermectin more useful at the time.

Thanks for the heads-up on the fuel price increase, briches!

The neighbor lady and I decided we needed to get back in to our pool routine, so we went yesterday, and will try to go again on Wednesday and Friday, assuming I can scrape up the energy. We go mid-morning as the pool has fewer people in it at that time. I probably need to go Tuesdays and Thursdays to the early morning aqua exercise class, but am having some trouble convincing myself that I want to hop in a pool of cold water and associate with unknown humans at 0730 in the morning. Maybe next week - or the week after  Actually, I've got a good (enough) excuse for this week into next - I have to pick up the grand-dog tomorrow for visit - he loves to run around the farm and down to the lake (note to self; dig out all the of the 'dog' towels), so I will get plenty of exercise hanging out with him - a few weeks ago I stopped by daughter's and was in the living room chatting with her when he brought me his leash and collar... 3 miles later - at his pace - and mostly up and down hills - he was still prancing around. I was... not.

I need to run in to the store, but I'm waiting on a call; I may just toss the info I need to give them in my purse and head in to town anyway as it's really clouding up and looking pretty dark to the west. The forecast has changed 3 times since I first looked at it this morning - and it hasn't improved any with the updates.

Take care all - stay safe out there!

Sherree I hate you are going thru a bad time. Praying for you. Lots happening here. Have decided to get some pigs. We are sharing responsibilities and meat with like minded neighbors. Looking for a milk cow. Our plan is to share that also. Just haven’t met the right girl yet! We too are concerned about food quality and supply. Today I pulled the dirt away from the onions which took a hard hit with the cold last month. We are rethinking that process for next year. Used the last of my dehydrated onions 2 weeks ago but still have some frozen. We both have heavy hearts concerning our nation. Got word today from daughter that military husband was given new job and is now deployable. They are moving to NJ. He is a ranger. Now make sense of all of that! Just has a couple of more years in. Prep prep prep! That’s the task for our household!

We got home from shopping, and I've got everything dated and put away. My knee and shoulder are screaming at me. I got my RX's filled, so that's good. We stopped in at TSC for our dog a new bed, and I loaded him up with all natural treats. He's still chewing and scratching himself. He's developed a raw spot where he's chewed himself on his behind right at the base of his tail, so picked up some medication for that. I didn't feel up to going anywhere else.

It was absolutely horrifying see the town that I've known all my life laying in rubble! So much destruction as far as you could see. In town, a lot of the side roads are still closed, no water, cell service, no internet, or electricity. Some stores that remain open are still "cash only". We do all our purchases with cash, so that wasn't a problem for us. My heart truly goes out to all those people. It sure makes my problems seem tiny compared to what they are dealing with.

Sherree, I will never forget the destruction in the New Orleans area after Katrina. I didn't venture over to see what had happened in the Biloxi area towards New Orleans. It was devistated, but they always build it back. I imagine some folks give up and move on but mostly they build back.

Yes, Amory and Tupelo will build back. The destruction we saw in Tupelo doesn't compare to what is in Amory. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. in Tupelo was destroyed. That's where Cary retired from after 28 yrs. A few other buildings, businesses, and homes throughout that area there. Most of Amory doesn't exist anymore in comparison. Only the southeast corner of town still is operational. That's where Walmart, Food Giant, and TSC is located. Believe it or not, our dry cleaners is sitting right in the middle of all the rubble, and it was still open with only minor damage. It was hard getting to it, though, with all the debris still in the street and surrounding it.

Possible more damaging storms for us today and overnight. I'm trying to get all my laundry done and light housework. My shoulder is limiting what I can do. Cary is working on the firewood while it's nice outside. There are too many trees around in our area that have been weaken by all the tornadoes. I wouldn't doubt what we don't lose power and internet if those trees come down. We're trying to get things done in case that happens, although I'm making supper in my crockpot right now, I can use our small gennie for it if necessary. It's a new recipe, and it sounds delicious. Layers of onions, sliced potatoes, 1 lb. Velveeta cheese slices, then lay boneless pork chops sprinkled with a little salt and pepper over the top of all that. Spread top of pork chops with 1 can of cream of chicken soup. Low for 8 hrs, and done. Not too carb friendly, but I already had the pork chops thawing in the fridge, and I wanted to try the recipe. Doctor told me I needed to lose a few pounds, so I'm starting my keto diet, again.

High temp of 85, today. The humidity is really high, too. We are so cold natured, these temps actually are comfortable to us. I can handle this temp year around!

Its definitely a rainy day. Thus far its off and on. Looks like rain for the next three days, although I don't think its going to be really bad, but you never know.

Rainy days like this makes me want to curl up and read. Thus far the only thing constructive that I've done was cook DH a meal.

I'm still keeping the living room up to speed.

Just go a text that a somewhat distant cousin is on hospice. I didn't know him very well, but I did know his sister who passed away about a year ago and his remaining brother is not in good health. These folks are all older than I am. I hope he has a peaceful passing.

We're under a severe thunderstorm watch, until 9pm. I'm so weary of all these storms. It's 86 degrees, and the humidity is still high, and there are some pretty nasty looking storms just to the west of us heading our way.

I got everything I wanted to do done today, which wasn't much. Supper is still cooking, but the gennie is ready if needed. Laundry is all done and put away and floors all swept. That's all I could manage.

I hope to be able to can up more ground beef, tomorrow. We'll see what I feel like in the morning.

Today went a bit sideways. So instead of getting lost on the computer, I decided to prep candy Easter eggs for son. I now have glitter all over me.

Family invited us for Easter but I said no. We are just, finally, getting back into a good groove. A 4 hour each way drive, in one day, would just wipe us out again. Love family but I just don't have the energy for that right now. And to some degree wonder why they think it's easy now when it wasn't easy when we were living in NE TN.

It is official. Spring is here as of last night. Son tried very hard to stay outside until midnight. And was back outside as soon as he fully woke up today. I may have to reconnect the sprinkler for him while we are still working on getting the pool back up.

Last night I left baby plants outside because it was supposed to stay warm. And it did. Supposedly we were going to get rain yesterday, then last night, then today. Maybe tonight. And since temps aren't supposed to drop drastically, I'll likely leave them outside again.

I need to get an outside task list started so I can get moving and keep my head straight on those projects.

Zipped over to daughter's town before the storms got bad early this morning in order to grab a few things at the Evil Empire before I picked up the grand-dog and headed for home - made it with just a few minutes to spare before a torrential thunderstorm hit. I went on line to look at my bank account - and was glad I did as there was a debit on there that I didn't make - I guess several people had the same thing happen. The debit was to Challenge Body M - I looked it up online and it was a scam. Glad it was only $12 and change.

I called the bank and let them know I'd be in as soon as the rain slowed down some so they locked my account until I could get there. Since I had to go in town anyway to pick up a new debit card, I stopped by the store and picked up some cube steak to fix for supper tomorrow night - I'll brown it, then put it in a cassarole dish, shake up some brown gravy mix in a jar with some water to pour over the cube steaks, then slice a small onion over the top before I put it in the oven to bake. I've got a bag of Aldi mixed veggies - sugar snap peas with potatoes and red peppers - that I'll nuke; and will quarter and peel the three lonely apples on the counter, then simmer them in a bit of water with some red-hots candy sprinkled over them. Supper tonight will be Chicken Alfredo courtesy of the cat crockpot - I don't think they'll miss the bit of broth and chicken I sneak out of it. Not sure what the sides will be yet - maybe glazed carrots and peaches.

The neighbor lady and I skipped the pool today - since it was storming, they wouldn't have let us get in the pool anyway. Neither one of us minded missing it - it's one of those rainy days that just calls for books and afghans and a nap. We will go on Friday with her Mama; and go out to lunch at the VFW - they have a great fish dinner on Fridays.

Hubby and I have to go back over to daughter's town tomorrow as we need to do some banking; it was too early I went to town to pick up my script so I'll need to try to remember to stop by and do that. I need to pick up a couple of supplements while I'm there - this getting old and creaky nonsense is for the birds

Well, this day has just zipped by; Hubby should be home from work soon, so I guess I'd better start prepping supper.

Take care all; stay safe out there!

I cooked at least ten packages of our pork sausage from the freezer that got turned off. It had been in a fridge for a couple of days or so and was still very cold. Two big pans full, its now in the fridge waiting to be vacuum sealed. There were actually two or three packages of venison, so its not too spicy for DH.

LMAO. I couldn't resist. I gave him one of the candy eggs. Oh the look in his eyes when he realized what was in it.

And then half an hour later I gave him another. His eyes lit up as soon as he saw it.

And then he saw me walking with some tangerines in my hand and had to check to make sure they weren't candy eggs.

SB, my wife and I will be praying for your health. Moldy, nomifyle and all the rest of you - I pray for all of you.

We are already praying for the folks in Amory, and Rolling Fork, and (as of Friday’s storms) McNairy County, Tennessee, Wynne, AR and Oakhaven, TN...

So much storm devistation lately, and now, we are in yet another thunderstorm warning with the potential of possibly more tornados...

I hope every body manages to stay safe tonight...

It has been so warm here that I put out the last of my tomato plants today, and two of my basil plants. I wanted to get them planted before tonights storms hit.

I already had plenty of lettuce, cabbage and broccoli planted, and they are doing really well.

The strawberry patch has lots of flowers now, but I have not seen any fruit formation yet.

My wife loves fresh strawberries. I am so looking forward to picking the first fruits of the season and serving them to her with a huge dollop of Cool Whip...

rain rain rain. Most of yesterday, off and on all night and for the next two days. An occasional thunderstorm. The folige has totally greened up.

Last night at church they had pulled pork sandwiches, the pork was delish. And then we had fried meat pies and fried fruit pies. The dough was all made from scratch, no canned dough. Yum, yum. The meat pies were quite good, but not quite like the Natchitoches meat pies, different seasoning.

We made it without any storms last night. Thank God for that blessing! It rained and rained a lot. It's still raining this morning, and we are under a flood watch all day. More rain coming for the next several days, too. Temps are back into the 60's for daytime highs. 49 for our low tonight. Gardening is just going to have to wait a while longer. At this rate of rainfall, the soil is never going to dry out enough to work the raised beds or get the tiller in the garden. Hopefully, soon the spigot will get turned off, and everything will get a chance to dry out.

I forgot to lay out the ground beef to thaw overnight, so no canning will get done, today. I also forgot to wash the canning jars. I'll get those washed, today. I have to wash them by hand, and it takes me a while to do all of them. I've just had too much on my mind, and it's making me forgetful. I need to start making me a list.

Dental surgery Wednesday afternoon, but I'm ready for it. As I was brushing my teeth this morning, I broke one of the teeth off below the gumline. Ouch! It's one that he was going to dig out anyway, except, before this morning I still had a bit of the tooth left. The tooth right beside it is already broken even with the gumline. This will be the last of the surgeries, though, and I'll be glad when it's over. I won't have a single molar left when he's done. I had all my wisdom teeth surgically removed years ago. Now, I just hope and pray that I can keep all of my front teeth. I really don't want dentures, but if they start breaking, I'll have no choice.

DS and DDIL surprised us by inviting us out to supper Saturday for our Easter meal, yesterday. We don't usually make a big deal out of traditional Easter, but it's something they wanted to do, so we said, yes.

The plants seemed to enjoy the overnight outside and the rain. But temps are dropping too low tonight so I just finished bringing them back in.

Dinner tonight was fish. It's nice having seafood in the diet again. Although I will also be looking to save up money to buy a pig, a lamb, and goat for butchering. I should be able to fit those by fall.

While you to the south were having severe storms last week, we got snow. Not a lot and it melted quickly, but messy. SE Iowa got hit with tornadoes, but we've had nothing but lots and lots of wind and quite chilly. Forecasters are predicting a lot more of this crazy dangerous weather which will more north in the coming months as we warm up. Fun and games NOT.

I went to town for the first time since March 1 to shop. I went to Walmart, Aldi and Fareway. I bought only 5 items not on my list and skipped a few that were on my list. Fareway had boneless half hams on sale for $3.88 #, but I could not see spending $17 to $20 on a ham just for myself. Aldi had bone in hams for $1.69 #, but I just don't care for the mess/difficulty of dealing with those anymore especially since I can no longer eat ham and beans.

I hauled into the house and put away and my back is hurting a lot this evening. I did 2/3 of my therapy before I left the house this a.m. and need to complete the final exercises soon. I went to Bible study for an hour before I went to town which added to my discomfort as sitting or standing hurts more than walking. Added on to that is 1/2 hour drive time each way.

I noticed the toilet paper I usually buy has been hit with shrink-flation. The individual squares went from 4 x 4" to smaller and the sq. ft. on the package is less and, of course, the price is higher.

I got everything on my list except chunky soups which are still missing at Aldi and scarce at Fareway. I didn't check at Walmart because I seldom buy food there. Plenty of the very expensive Campbells soups but I don't want them bad enough to pay that price. The major street to the shopping area is closed for the entire summer so had to detour and traffic was heavy, but it seemed everyone was driving carefully so no issues. Just makes the trip/day longer and more hassle. Glad I only shop once a month!!

I continue to pray for everyone on the forum. Some individually but all generally so no one is missed.

My cousin has terminal cancer and we had a long conversation awhile back. He is wondering what Heaven will be like and was asking what I thought. Such a comfort to me knowing he is a born again Christian as is he lovely wife.

Son has a wound at the bridge of his nose. And he just can't seem to leave it alone. The last few days he has tried using Summerthyme's Wound Heal and neosporin on it. But then he keeps picking at it.

About an hour ago I heard strange crying out noises. That had me racing back for fear he was having a seizure. Instead, he had made a mess of the wound and resulted in a deeper opening. And he just couldn't stop himself.

I managed to spray it with Bactine Max which seems to have helped. And then I trimmed fingernails to make picking very difficult.

And then my brain went "roller ball bottle". Except I'm out of them because I used the last one for Summerthyme's Wound Heal. So I jump on Amazon to order some and find a multicolor set. And that's perfect because he can learn what color goes with what medicine. And hopefully, between Bactine and Wound Heal this injury can finally close up and go away.

Busy day here today. Tomatoes are planted! Tomorrow we will transplant peppers and plant squash from seed but anticipating rain so maybe we will get a chance before rain starts. Finished flower bed and hanging baskets and cooked. Learned to make mustard from scratch. We live down a cow path and the torrential rains over the last 7-10 days washed that trail out in a number of spots. Hubs has spent a few hours everyday smoothing that up and cleaning out ditches. We stockpile gavel. Had some delivered on Tues. to replace what we used. $50 more a load since 2 weeks ago. Never stops does it?! Press on everyone!

Emotionally tough day at work (the patients, not me or coworkers). Did manage to do a little cleaning and start the brisket marinating for Sunday.

I rarely cry at work, but finding a 20+year old is still in ICU (from complications of cancer), hearing a 30 year old cry over a cancer diagnosis, and a woman losing a pregnancy just put me over the top today. I would appreciate some prayers. I know that God allows things to happen to us so that we can help others in the same situation. And I"m glad for that - it makes having cancer seem a little less purposeless. But three in one day was kinda tough.

Not much going on here, today. It's still raining, so no work outdoors. I've got the ground beef in the fridge thawing, and all my jars washed. I plan to have a big canning day, Sunday, since we'll be by ourselves that day. No home fellowship/bible study, since we're all going out to eat together Saturday night. It will take til Sunday for all the ground beef to thaw.

I changed out my closet to summer clothes. I got rid of a few tops that I'll take to Mom for the thrift store. I ordered 2 more from Blair to replace those, and I bought 2 new Carhartt t-shirts at TSC the other day. The Blair tops were on sale with free shipping. I do our clothing the same way I do my pantry. Get rid of something, replace with new. There's nothing wrong with the tops I'm giving to Mom, except they're sleeveless, and I don't feel comfortable any longer wearing sleeveless tops. I guess its age telling on me. Now days, I prefer 3/4 length sleeves over even short sleeves, at least when I go out in public.

The pork chops and potatoes I cooked in my crockpot the other day were delicious. It's a keeper recipe. We had leftovers from them last night. I think they were even better as leftovers. Red beans and rice with smoked sausages tonight for supper. I haven't made that in a while, so I dug out smoked sausages from the freezer this morning as I was getting out the ground beef.

continuing daily prayers for the peeps around here. God bless you.

Its only misty right now, its supposed to continue for the next day. Must have let up though the goats just ran out in the open. Everything is massively green. Coming back from the VA yesterday it felt like we werre in a blanket of green. I like it. Green was my mother's favorite color because its the color of money.

I bought a 2# bag of large lima beans yesterday, the one pound bag just didn't look like much.

Gotta dust and sweep,

LOL. There are enough trees down in our area to cut up for firewood to last for years. He's picking and choosing what he wants to cut. All hard oak. We have enough room under roof for 9 cords. It's full already. What he's splitting and stacking now will have to go under a tarp. We use a lot (for the South), so we try to keep 3 yrs. worth on hand at all times. There are men in our community who are cutting up firewood to sell from all the downed trees, but Cary just wants to keep us in a good supply.

Good call on leaving the boneless ham there. Those things are nothing but water and scraps pressed into a tasteless loaf and good for nothing but sticking into your meat slicer and slicing thin enough for ham rolls.

A whole ham is worth the price for one person though when you figure how many meals you get from it, and especially how many different meals. I'd suggest looking for a good sale on spiral sliced (for conveince). Take the glaze packet and set it aside for use in smoking or roasting. It will be good on pork should/butt or loin. Then debone the slices dividing them up into the right size packs for you to use. These are great for sandwiches (mmm grilled ham and cheese) or my wife makes wraps using low carb tortillas, breakfast meat, and a pack can be heated up to make a ham dinner for one or two people. The end where they couldn't slice would be about the right amount for you brush some pineapple juice on and bake, or you could debone it in chunks for use in recipes which is what we do, cube it up for omelets, or to put on salads, and other low carb dishes if that's your diet.

That leaves the bone which can go for making broth if you're not putting it into beans, or throw it over the fence to the neighbor kids.

What I do with whole bone in hams is to have the butcher at the grocery store (Food Giant) go ahead and slice the whole thing for me. I tell him how thick I want the slices to be. He wraps the whole thing, and I bring it home. I divide it up into servings big enough for me and Cary. I have lots of ham in the freezer done that way to use several different ways. The bones in each slice just give added flavor while the ham is cooking no matter how you're using it.

Boneless hams vary greatly in quality. The nicer ones are very good and the low end are scraps. I like the idea of having the butcher slice a bone in ham, but prices at Fareway weren't that good and Aldi doesn't have a butcher. Slices equal ham steak which would be good. Spiral hams seem to dry out too much when baked. A whole ham even when freezing a large portion is really too much for one person.

Today it's sunny 63º and again windy. I've not accomplished anything as yet and the days over half over. Supper will be ham and noodle casserole since I found a cup of diced ham in the freezer while looking for something else. Noodles from a package from the mobile food pantry a while back plus can of cream of chicken soup. I've found I like the cream of chicken better than cream of mushroom in ham casseroles.

I agree with you about the boneless hams varying in quality. I sometimes buy the boneless half hams at Sam's that are very good. The only place that I've found here that will slice the bone-in hams for me is at Food Giant. They have their own butcher, and he will usually cut you the kind of meats you want, too. You can actually watch him do it. I don't like spiral cut hams. The slices are too thin, and it does dry out when baked. We like the thicker sliced ham. One way I use them is to take 2 of the larger ham slices, place them in a shallow roasting pan, cover them with pineapple chunks, sprinkle with brown sugar, with a big pat of butter. Bake covered in the oven til warmed and pineapple chunks are slightly browned. All kind of ways to use them.

I'm also in agreement about the cream of chicken soup with pork.

Son took forever to get to sleep last night. And then he woke up at 4 am and picked at the wound again. So I was UP! I swear there is something about that pain sound that just rips through everything and guarantees an adrenaline drop. And when I finally got him settled (wound, headache, jaw ache, food), it was 5 am. Oh, and he was bloody cold because he kicked off all his blankets at some point, so that required snuggling me until he was warm. He got me up again at 6. And then at 8. So all plans to work early and then run errands went flying out the window. And then, of course, there was extra work to do, which is good because extra work means extra pay. And he napped for most of the morning.

Then I get a UPS notice. The ceiling lights which were supposed to arrive on Monday, are out for delivery today. And they got here. And they are the right ones this time.

Then, as I'm winding up with boss, friend keeps trying to call me. Which is odd because he normally just tries once. When I can call him back, about 15 minutes later, it's to discover that he's at Home Depot to grab the bags of sand for the pool area. I'm confused for about 5 minutes because he's calling me when he's normally supposed to be at work. Then I find out that it's a work day off for holiday. So he decided he'd get the sand. And then grab the groceries for me. And then he's headed here to drop off sand and put the lights up.

And I'm going to go just sit for a few minutes and let my brain take in the sudden shifts. I want to go take a nap. But I won't. And errands being done means that I can do canning tomorrow. 40 lbs of chicken to get canned. And then run to the local auto parts store and pickup the spark plugs, boots, oil, and filter for the van. And maybe not end up feeling like I've run all over existence without a day off.

And the colored roller ball jars will be here tomorrow. I doubt it will take him long to figure out which ones contain which meds. And that will give him the freedom to apply things when he wants. And I'm all for that. I even leave the neosporin where he can reach it now that he's learned to not use the whole tube at one time. I did try the Bactine skin covering last night but he wiped it off before it got a change to set.

And he napped for most of the morning.

got your hands full, bless your heart. Is your son full size for his age? I'm just trying to get a mental picture of what you deal with. I loved my sons when they were growing up (I still do love them) but would have a hard time dealing with 6' plus men.

We put all the meat I cooked a couple of days ago in vacuum sealed bags in the freezer. Got four packages of meal sized pork loin and maybe ten packages of the ground meat. Can use one or two packs to make a meal of the ground meat depending on what I'm cooking.

I've got it on my list of things to get done to cook up all the other ground venison and pork and vacuum seal it in bags for the freezer. I suppose I could still can it if necessary after it has been cooked and frozen. Although that is not something I would look forward to doing.
