Has No Life - Lives on TB
We cancelled our home fellowship/Bible study, today. I still don't feel up to having guests over. I'm pretty much just laying around reading or reading here on the forum. Nothing else is getting done much.

I have a few boxes of Hamburger Helper in the pantry, and I'm hoping to make that and home fries, tonight. Cary can peel the potatoes for me. I keep things like Hamburger Helper on hand for times such as this. While thinking about making the HH, tonight, I thought of all the egg noodles I have in storage. Tons of it. So, today, I'm going to be looking for more recipes for using them that can come from my pantry, even if I have to add more ingredients to storage. I have several recipes already, but I need more variety. I like the one pot or skillet type recipes. The internet will be my friend in this endeavor, today. I just don't have the energy to do much else.

Blessings to All for the week ahead! Prayers for All as well.

Hugs, SouthernBreeze, I know the feeling. You might look for meal in a jar recipes that you can pre-mix like HH. And then just grab off the shelf when you need them.

I crashed hard yesterday. There is something about being out around people that just exhausts me, even if I don't feel it while I'm out and about. I was actually enjoying myself while doing it. Thank heavens I dropped the chicken in the oven before I crashed. And set a timer.

Today is household stuff. And attaching elastic to one of son's sheets. And making that compression sheet for him. It was going to be another gift but the binding tape from Joann's does not match the color of the one I have. Despite me buying the exact same number. So that will be swapped out on Tues or Weds.

Brain came back with a way to handle the hours issue and I'm going to try it this week. I'm just going to do a flat number of hours per day. Even if boss tosses new things my way. I'll just keep a running to do list and ask her to prioritize things when necessary. That way she can see what she has tossed my way and how many hours are left on her "clock" for me. I think part of the problem is that I work fast so she keeps tossing more stuff. But fast doesn't mean I can warp time and space. I can say that she got the first audit on my work last week and was very happy with it. Only one error that was completely mine, we think. We can't figure out how it happened. But the rest were lack of information given or decisions to change procedures.

I was going to work in the garden today but nature turned that upside down. So I'm going to work on sorting through some books. It's time to clean out more and set them aside to go to the used book store for credit. Especially since I'm looking to add more books on things that I'm currently working on and would like more education on. I'm hoping to get to McKay Books sometime next month. I could go to 2nd & Charles but I haven't been impressed with their selection. I have a gift card from them that is over 2 years old if that gives you a clue.

I need to sit down and plan the next few sewing projects. There are three in the wings waiting on other people. But I want to do some skirts and pants for me. Maybe even a few summer dresses. And then there's the need to dismantle one each of son's accepted pair of shorts and pants to use as patterns and recreate using 4 way stretch knit. I have a couple of the old pairs of shorts that the elastic crashed out in, so I'll use on of those for that project.

And happy day, I found a source for the presser feet for my Viking 190 that are hiding in their "safe place". And they are affordable. I love my machines and I know that they are getting so old that repair people and parts are getting hard to come by so I'm also picking up the repair parts that the person has for sale. At some point, I'll likely have to give them up but I'm going to put that off for as long as I can. New machines just don't hold up the way these do. Well, new machines that don't cost $1,000+.

But we did find a good repair shop for my Singers. So one is going in for repair this upcoming weekend. And then other in a couple of weeks. Two elderly gentlemen who have been repairing Singer machines for most of their lives and have an ample supply of parts and equipment. And they haven't jacked their prices up to insane levels "because of inflation". Those machines I have every available attachment for and they are workhorses. Part of this year's projects will be overhauling my sewing corner. I have one of the cabinets that will drop down a machine. Full cabinet. So it will replace the small desk. There will be a contained, protect area to store the machines that are not in use. And the cabinet will have drawer and shelves added so that I can contain a large part of my sewing accessories in it. I actually will not be dropping any machine down inside. I'm looking forward to have the larger table top that will be level with the sewing machine sewing level.

Off to get as much done as I can today. Tomorrow is back to work and this week has doctor appointments. And phone calls. So many phone calls to make. I hate phone calls. So much tedious waiting.

Oh, and part of the fabric haul was a pile of absolutely beautiful lace and hand tatting and doilies. I likely won't use them for their original uses but they will get used. For now they'll get washed and put in the linens drawer. And I just remembered that I need to go find another heavy duty, clear tablecloth cover.

Share those recipes when you find them please

So far, I've found 3 different recipes I want to try when I'm feeling better. I'll share the simplest one for now. My fingers are still quite sore.

Ham Noodle Casserole

1/2 tsp garlic powder
Fresh or dried parsley
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 bag egg noodles
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 c milk
2 c shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream, I'll use yogurt instead.
3 c cooked ham

Preheat oven to 350. Spray with cooking oil or nonstick cooking spray a 13x9 baking dish. Cook noodles according to directions. Drain and return to pot. Stir ham, soup, sour cream, milk, garlic, and pepper altogether with noodles. Pour mixture into baking dish. Top with cheese. Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley.

The others are Beef Noodle Casserole and a Hamburger Helper type casserole that also has egg noodles as an ingredient.

Sounds delish? Ever make a mix for creamed soup? Easy to do and use

This one can for Set for Life.
2 cups instant nonfat dry milk
1 cup cornstarch
3 tablespoons chicken boullion granules (I have crushed bullion cubes before when out of granules!)
1/2 teaspoon thyme dried leaves
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Mix together and store in airtight container yield 3 1/2 cups.

To reconstitute for 1 can soup
1 1/4 cups water or milk
1/3 c soup mix

Combine soup mix and water or milk in small pan. Bring to a boil, and stir until thick. When I use for a casserole I add it dry and then add the milk or water. Stir. It will thicken while cooking.

That I can work with. Thank you.

I told myself no more fabric until I use enough of what I have that there is room in the normal storage spaces. Only exception is if I need a specific fabric for a specific project that I'm actively working on.

Fingers crossed, son's migraine finally broke. Hopefully he will have at least a day before a new one. His body is wonky on meds again. So caffeine actually calmed him. His face was so amusing when he saw me walk in with everything this morning. I was making sure I had it on hand so it would be handled straight up.

One of my grabs yesterday was more hand towels. So I'll be pulling the more damaged ones out of the kitchen and into the rag pile. I also found some nice handkerchiefs to add to my stock.

I was adding elastic to son's fleece sheets when my brain showed me why the problem existed. Oops. I made them to fit the original mattress. Then we made a foam mattress for him that is about 6" longer. Oops. The extra pieces of elastic will help keep it in place correctly. When I'm up to it, I'll redo the case for it and cut the foam down to match in size.

He saw the sheet on his bed after lunch and just completely burrowed in. Apparently that is a good thing for a brain and body that are exhausted. One of the things to be done soon is to make more of those sheets for him. Soft is a very good sensory for him and most sheets just don't do it. But I do have some king size sheets that are unusually soft. So those will be cut down to size as well.

That's where I'm at, as well! But holy cow, can I go through fabric when I'm feeling well!

Since Thanksgiving, I've made:
7 girls dresses
1 tunic
2 pairs of long johns,,with attached socks (DS loves those... no searching for socks for the toddler when he wants to take her to the barn or shop, and no more cold toes!)
2 adult nights shirts... for hubby and I. We each need two more... We've been wearing 15 year old ones!
3 girls nightgowns, from that super soft fleece... like Minky, but fluffier (your son might like something from that stuff.. my oldest grandson has texture issues, and absolutely adores the pants I made from it)
5 adult men's sweatshirts... all tailored to fit the recipients.
2 pairs of Fleece pants for the grandsons
2 pastry cloths
And 1 rag doll with a dress matching one I made for the 2 year old

I still need to make the nightshirts mentioned above, a couple of sweatshirts for hubby, some leggings and tunics for the girls for school, and a bunch of pot holders, for myself and daughter.

Oh, and finish the wool blend fleece jacket that's been cut out for about 8 years for myself! This weird weather means my down parka is too warm for many days.

But now that I'm starting to feel better from the last bug, I've got to make elderberry syrup and Ouch liniment and get my orders caught up!

I'm going to turn some of the crazy pattern knits into nightshirts using my favorite as a pattern. Better than anything I've found online.

Since the body announced pain, I decided to take the time to loom knit some more garden bags. I can do that, even when hurting. Now that I've worked out the idea, it doesn't take a lot. The annoyance is that the yarn does not have a piece to pull from center. So the yarn keep flipping as pulled.

When I finish with this one I'll likely try my first hat. I found a really soft pink. I doubt I'll wear it but it's a good to start with. I have a friend who enjoys pink.

I am definitely ordering the presser feet for the Viking machine. That will leave me only needing a gather foot and a roller foot. There use to be a slip material that you put on the bottom of some of the feet. I'm going to use the Cricut vinyl to duplicate that on a couple of feet.

I'm debating finding a way to get the second Viking set up for non electric. And longer term, getting the table and parts for converting the old Singers, just in case.

After looking, I've just decided that I'll pick up vinyl for a tablecloth cover the next time I'm in Joann's. The Wal-marts around here no longer carry rolls of clear vinyl. Everything sold for covering tablecloths online had mix reviews. And there was no way to tell the true thickness of the plastic.

Drinking some nana mint tea to calm the cramping pain and then on to more.

I'm still dealing with the long covid fatigue so have not accomplished much beyond reading a lot of books and doing puzzles. I may take root to the couch since I spend so much time there!! I'm keeping up with laundry, cooking and dishes but not much else. I'm still having difficulty eating anything that is too salty which means most store purchased canned or boxed items.

I have used my brief spurts of energy to reorganize my storage pantry a shelf at a time. I've also purged some old cans of stuff and sorted out all the cans of beans that I can no longer eat to give away. Some of the very old jars of home canned beans were dumped. There is no point of taking up shelf space with things I can no longer eat. I have/had a lot of beans in my food storage because my late dh and I both loved beans and would eat them several times a week. But with him gone and my colitis beans are no longer something I can eat.

I'm starting to think of spring garden while looking at 10" of new snow on top of the old drifts across the garden. I need to get plant starting materials organized although it's too early to plant anything before March or April. I think I have all the containers, potting soil and seeds I need. If the fatigue continues, I'll have to rethink my garden plans.

We had a busy week last week. We had to go somewhere 4 days. One was to do my job, which takes most of the day. Saturday I felt terrible. I think I just need to rest and get back to normal. Sunday I felt better.

I think we are going with the granite countertops. I will get a new sink and faucet. I have to pick them out still. I hate to spend the money. But it should last the rest of our lives. I love our cabinets, but they are showing their age.

I have made a good start on tax paperwork. I also have to do a USDA Agriculture Survey. How we got picked for that is a mystery. They started before we even sold hay. It is just a pain to do.

Hubby is rebuilding my old Troy built tiller. It has been a work horse. He already put a new engine on it a few years ago. He is redoing the gear box now. A couple of seals were bad and other problems. He is an expert mechanic on older machinery.

We are expecting snow Tuesday into Wednesday morning. It should not last long, but the milk and bread will fly off the shelves.

Hubby rebuilt our TroyBilt a few years ago...we bought it new in 1981, and it's done a TON of work since. We put a 9 hp Robin Subaru engine on it after the Kohler cast iron engine threw a rod at 30 years old, and it starts on one pull. Love it...would never trade it for a new one!

I'm feeling much better this morning. My eyes still hurt a bit, and my fingers are still sore, but not as stiff. The fatigue is still pretty bad, though. Still a bit of temp in the late afternoon. All my RX meds are beginning to kick in, finally. I'm going to continue resting and give the meds time to get all this inflammation out of my system. The house is a mess. I do plan to sweep, today, and that will be about it. The OCD in me is screaming. Cary is doing what he can to help.

Once I feel like it, I need to go through old clothes that are hanging in the laundry room. They are just our old work around the house/yard clothes. Some we've had for years that need to be thrown away. That will clear up some clutter that we don't need. Cary is getting itchy fingers to get some of our garden seed started in there.

Here is another recipe using egg noodles I found, yesterday. It's simple, and sounds good to me, since we like Mexican type food.

Hamburger Casserole

1lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
8oz egg noodles
1 15oz can chili
1 14.5oz diced tomatoes
1 15oz can corn
1/4 c taco sauce
1 pk taco seasoning mix
shredded cheddar

Preheat oven to 250. Cook beef, onion, and celery til done. Drain. Cook noodles. Drain. Mix meat, noodles, and all other ingredients together, except the cheese. Pour into a baking dish. Bake til bubbly, about 20 mins. Take out of oven and sprinkle with cheese. The recipe didn't say to drain the tomatoes and corn, but I'm going to drain the corn. Also, the 250 degree oven temp seems too low for me.

I’m trying to get back into a more normal routine this week but still working on the pantries as I can. I’ve given myself 3 months to get things under control, organized, fill any holes, etc. and with the deep dive of the past few weeks, I think/hope I make it. I generally try to do to much in a short amount of time and get overwhelmed and discouraged and give up, so far this is working for me. I know it’s going to constantly be a work in progress and I need to keep up.

Working on laundry today and spent some time in basement pantry pulling things for DH to bring up to the “working” pantry. I don’t know how I managed it but I found I have 5 of the 6 lb boxes of angel hair pasta down there. I didn’t bring any up because I have plenty upstairs. Now that things are better organized in the working pantry, I actually have more food in there than before and I can see the floor! The open spaces in the basement pantry are helping immensely to start getting it organized and to see exactly what we have and where we need to fill in.

Leftovers are on the menu for tonight, off to fold more laundry.

Just a few comments on various posts. First, granite countertops are beautiful and last forever. However, they need care and I personally don't want anything that requires extra "care" -- just saying. My countertops are Formica and 42 years old. They are showing their age but in better condition than the cupboards. Living on social security means I have to live with what I have so I'm happy the Formica remains decent.

We got a Troy Bilt in 1972 and worked it hard for many years. I think it was about 2000 when we replaced it. It needed more repairs than my dh was able to do at that time and we could not find anyone local to work on it. I sure hated to see it go. The one I now have is enough for the smaller garden.

The Hamburger Casserole sound very yummy. I think I might try it in the crockpot.

Believe it or not but I found a troy~bilt in the woods in a junk pile! I needed a tiller at the time. Took it to a friend to see what was wrong with it and to see if it could be fixed. Only needed a carbuerator! That was 10 years ago. Still my workhorse!

I don't see why you can't use the recipe in the crockpot. You can also use ground venison, instead of ground beef. I've been sitting here most of the day looking for more recipes for all sorts of things. Cake recipes and crockpot recipes, mostly. I love using my crockpot. I have a London broil roast and potatoes going in mine right now for supper tonight. I just dumped it all in and added spices, a bit of water, and a pk of Lipton Onion Soup mix. So simple and easy. I use crockpot liners, so no mess to clean up.

I found a recipe for crockpot chicken breasts that I'm going to try soon.

Fiesta Chicken Breasts

1 16oz jar of salsa of choice
1 can of Cream of Cheddar Soup
boneless skinless chicken breasts

Dump all in crockpot and cook on low til chicken is tender.

We picked up commodities today, I haven't looked in the boxes yet, but two things I noticed. Two packages of Beyond Chicken, barf, this will go to the dog, although I'd rather give it to the pig, but DH gets to decide on that.

I also made a quick trip to WM while we were in town. I really did try to cut it short so that I wouldn't just about crawl out of the store. I did manage to get out of there when my back was just starting to bother me, in just bother me, not crippling pain. So I guess I did good.

Two things the wm I went to last week didn't have. I like those 1 carb street tacos and the store last week didn't have them and the store today only had a few. Since I'm down to my last package at home I got 4 today, this will last me awhile. The other thing I forgot about and online said they were out anyway. I splurged and bought a package of really nice buns and a small keto whole wheat bread. The buns were more expensive since I usually get the $1 walmart brand. Although they are not something I keep on had since we don't eat much bread. I still haven't found any frozen pineapple juice, walmart probably doesn't carry it.

I've gotten some plaid flannel shirts at walmart since the weather started getting cold, they had them marked down, but I did find one that I don't have. I'm short on shirts since I have gained weight this last year, but I still have two that I had when I was fat some years ago. They are so nice, I got them at Lane Bryants. The ones from WM are definitely cheap fabric, but I'll wash them carefully. The two old ones I throw in the washer with jeans and they come out fine and wrinkle free. I've not washed the new ones, but I'll bet they have to be ironed. I finally found my nice iron.

The reason I bought the buns was because I was telling DH about the Keystone beef and he said it sounded good as opened faced sandwich. The nice buns are some much better than the crappy walmart which bread that I usually buy. Mostly we end up throwing that bread away. More than anything we use if for grilled cheese sandwiches.

Dh got a call the other day that his 81 y/o sister is not doing well, she is in the hospital with liver cancer, and has developed bacteria in her abdomen and now has pneumonia. Please pray for her an easy passing, because there is no hope really.

So with DH's sister probably passing we will have to make a trip (gag) to Illinois. I certainly don't want to go, but I also don't want for DH to make that trip by himself. Its almost 800 miles. so pray for us too. At least this will give DH an opportunity to see his almost 4 year old twin grandsons, which he hasn't seen since they were infants.

Its such a blessing that I have a friend that will feed the chickens, gather the eggs and feed the dog.

A neighbor who died last August had been a seamstress for decades. Her apartment was jammed with hundreds of spools of quality thread/yarn/trimmings/elastic/ patterns/etc. Also had a special cabinet/table built for her height to ease strain on back. Also had piles of neatly folded fabric......a whole room full. Her family cleaned out her apartment and I'm pretty sure none of them sewed routinely. Her daughter said, "Oh, Gloria (the mom) how could you leave this for us to clean out!"

I think the local thrift store was used as disposal of most things..........Seamstresses missed out on that hoard!

I check the boxes from commodities, they are mostly pitiful. Two cans of corn and two cans of the chili that DH likes.

I also checked on the cans of Keystone beef. They are still in date for two more years and only the cans on top have slight rust on the top rim. I'm going to try a can of it tonight with gravy open faced on one of the nice buns I bought. DH is taking advantage of the last couple of days of deer hunting, he really wants to get one more deer. I want something hot for him to eat when he comes in.

Our water system is having issues again. We've had several days of it being off for several hours during the day and overnight. Last week it was on for a few days in a row and I took advantage of it and got all but a couple of small loads caught up. I can do one load by hand, as its compression stockings and sports bras.

The local water system now has a fb page and they comments are disgusting. I am surrounded by spoiled entitled people (all white). These are country people that apparently have no clue how to make do. But then again I'm a serious prepper (apparently) and they are idiots. Even if I was here by myself I'd have a rain barrel.

When I do dishes I have to let the water run for the hot water to come through. I usually just let it run down the sink, but now in an effort to be more prudent I'm letting it run into some to use for filling a jug or to put something in soak. The water pressure right now is just about a trickle so I went out to one of the rain barrels to fill a jug so I can heat some water in a hot pot to wash some dishes.

We were blessed yesterday before church to have running water and were able to take a good bath. Apparently we caught it being on just in time, because according to all the complaints on the FB water system page it didn't stay on long. And we have full pressure. I'm going to wash those dishes.

Mine too, although katrina cleaned out my sewing supplies.
I am the last seamstress in my family. My Mom occasionally dabbles but not often. No one of my generation sews. And the next generation, all boys so far, has no interest.

But hey, if I can live a nice long life, at least two of the machines will be 100+ years old before they have to worry about it. And they should sell for decent money.

Today has been a day. Son was in a massively bad mood from the moment he woke up. He's much more chilled out now and has decided that he really shouldn't repeat some of those behaviors. I'm beginning to think there's a kidney or bladder infection. I have test strips. Getting a sample is the problem. He's more chill, but he's also being sassy. Btw folks, those test strips are worth having on hand. So worth having on hand.

Boss and I cheered as we sent out 1099s. Watching the list shrink was plenty for bringing joy. But I was definitely glad to log off and quit for the day.

Pulled pork chops for tonight. And remembered to shop my freezer and grab things I needed in the house. Venison roast will be tomorrow or Wednesday.

Pain yesterday was that I forgot to eat venison or beef for too many days. I think it has been 4 or 5 days. Doc is pretty sure it's linked to the anemia. And we have no clue how long it will be before the body doesn't insist on some every day.

The bags for sausage arrived last week, so I may see if I can squeeze in sausage making this week. I'll have to grab ground pork somewhere. Yes, I could grind it but that's a step beyond what I want to deal with this week. Mainly because it means I have to defrost pork roasts. Although, if GFS still has them on sale, I may just grab a small boneless one.

I checked the dates on my Keystone beef, two more years, so I guess I bought about 3 years ago. I decided to try a can. It looks like chunked roast beef, I added a can of beef gravy and made mashed potatoes. I prepared DH a plate and also one for myself. DH said he didn't care for it and hoped never to have it in front of him again. I took my empty plate to the kitchen and there was his plate, barely eaten. I really saw red. He's almost impossible to cook for unless its something fried, which I don't do well. I fussed at him, which I'm loathe to do because he's so good to me, except when it come to foods that most people would eat with no problem. He went on to bed, about the time he usually does.

I felt so bad about fussing at him, that I apologized about three different times. He cried because he hurt my feelings. We both felt bad about it. He did say he was willing to try it with bbq sauce, but its no guarantee he will eat it. LOL, he says if he forces himself to eat something he doesn't like he will throw up. He says the same thing about drinking water.

All is well and we are not going to bed mad, which we try to never do that.

Update on the shingles in my right eye...
Returned to my eye doctor today...the pressure in my eye has returned to normal range...I wear contacts and am near sighted but with the swelling, inflammation and shingles have not been able to wear them..since this started..on January 4th....they tested the near vision in right eye and it was 20/20...I have finished the antiviral rx and he took me off the pressure eye drops and just has me taking the steroid drop twice a day for one week and then once a day for one week...
He released me and confirmed that I did not suffer any damage to the optic nerve...so no loss of vision..he did tell me what I thought was styes in the eyelid were really shingles....it attacked the eye first...I didn't even know shingles could do that......if you have stye that does not clear up fast...and have had chicken pox..and are old enough to have shingles...run don't walk to your eye doctor.... shingles in the eye can blind you.. the blisters that came on my face are completely dried up and scabbed over and falling off..the colloidal silver really stopped the itching and dried them up in a hurry.
Thank you for all the prayers...God is good all the time.

I totally agree. We keep a good stock of them to have on hand if Cary even hints of a urinary tract infection and tests once a month just to make sure. He almost died, twice, from sepsis from a UTI that he never knew he had. He had no symptoms at all, until he went into full blown sepsis. We get all of our UTI test strips and meds from AZO, directly. I also use their products when Lupus has my bladder inflamed.

I'm feeling lots better this morning. All the inflammation is calming down. I can actually type, without my fingers being so painful, and my eyes, throat, and mouth are less dried out, too. I've done a bit of house cleaning this morning. I was glad of it, too. I can't stand a messy, cluttered house. The dust on the furniture was awful. Cary helped me change the bedsheets. Hopefully, tomorrow, I can do a full house cleaning, before I start on some cleaning, decluttering projects. I may give myself a couple more days, before starting on those projects, but at least I'll start with a clean house.

We're eating straight out of the pantry, tonight. A can of chicken breasts cooked with a box of Chicken Rice a Roni, lima beans, and creamed corn, with dinner rolls from the freezer. Cary is still working on the lemon ice box pie I made a few days ago for his dessert.

Rain coming in this afternoon and overnight. Temps are about normal for us this time of year. 40's-50's for the highs and 30's at night. My walking onions made it through the deep freeze we had back during Christmas. They came back out and are growing. I can't say the same for all my azaleas, roses, and hostas. I'm afraid that some of them didn't make it through the freeze. I told Cary the other day that all the local nurseries probably would be doing a world of business this spring with a lot of folks having to replace things that didn't make it. We're not used to having as cold of temps as we had, sustained, back during Christmas.

So glad to hear about your onions making it,Sherree and that you are feeling better! My bunching onions have come out but my candy sweets look awful. Some are putting back out but look horrible! Along with the new greenhouse we added lean to’s on the barn and shed. Shed is finished but still working on barn. Planting some roses today. Finish closets yesterday. Getting ready for planting season!

I mis read this and thought it said home covid testing. I can certainly see the need to test for a urinary infection. I had one last year and it was the first time in years. I'm trying to drink more water.

As far as covid testing I was tested once in Oct 21 and if I can help it I will never test for that again. Frankly I have become so skeptical about things that I don't trust the test that they haven't put something nefarious in them.

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel in the pantry room. There is no longer stuff stacked in front of the shelves in there and we can see the floor. And the floor in the pantry closet is almost empty, except for two buckets that need to be pulled out to see what is in them. They might even be labeled.

I took a few vitamins last night, Nac, Bromelain, D3, B6 and a couple of other things that I have not been taking for awhile and my throat is clear of mucus this morning. My knee is doing much better, thank God, and I'm generally feeling much better. I was really happy that I didn't wear myself out in the grocery store yesterday.

Tomorrow we have to go to the VA, DH has an appointment with ENT. Its looks like all of the stitches have finally dissolved from his ear surgery in December. He thinks he can hear out of that ear a little bit, they told him the surgery most likely would not improve his hearing. But they did repair his busted ear drum, so we'll see.

No update on DH's sister yet today.

It's rainy and cold and gloomy out side. The furnace is almost continually running. Its 76 inside which is warm enough. It got down to 68 where I sleep, but I had plenty of cover and was fine. DH likes it 80 where he sleeps, he has an electric heater in there.

Cary is planning to cut back all of my roses, today, before the rain starts. I like cutting them back each year. It makes them bush out more come spring. He'll know if they are dead or not, once he starts cutting. We're waiting for February to start our mustard, turnips, and lettuce outside. One of my decluttering projects is to declutter that big table we have in the laundry room and the laundry room itself, so Cary will have the whole table for starting seeds, soon. He'll have to hang the grow light, too. We have several new tomato seeds to try this year. Everything else will be planted/sown in the ground, once the ground is warm enough, usually around the last week of April or the first of May, depending on how warm it is.

Yay! Cary just finished cutting back all my roses, and they made it! He said that they were all beginning to bud, even the running roses on the fence. I'm so glad I won't be replacing those. It's about time for the azaleas to begin budding, too. They don't look too good, but it's still a bit early.

I got a Sam's sale catalogue in the mail, today. They have a small 5 cu ft chest freezer on sale. I want it, so Cary said it would be ok. It's instore pick up only, so I'll have to wait until the sale starts (Feb 1st) and go pick it up. I want to use it just for meat. The old 40+ year old chest freezer has almost been cleaned out. Only a few bags of frozen veggies, butter, cheese, and flour/ cornmeal. That's going to be its sole purpose. The other chest freezer holds meat, and other odds and ends.
