Understandable! I wouldn’t FB either, but I rely on it heavily for my rescues and my homeschooling groups. You can always ask a friend with FB to keep an eye out for you. You can get some great deals that way.

It is our own personal conviction to not support Amazon or FB in any way. We always deal directly with the company if we want to order anything, and we don't have friends that do FB, either.

Sorry, just trying to be helpful.

I know it’s not always appreciated, but I’m 100% a problem solver. Anytime anyone has a problem, I automatically try to think of ways I can fix it for them, lol!

No worries at all. We've held our convictions for a long time, and you had no way of knowing. I do appreciate you trying to help.

Our Walmart hasn't started sealing them in plastic, yet, but if they start, I'll sure do that. Cary makes sure to bag the eggs separately from anything else and puts them in the back seat with other delicate items, instead of the trunk of the car, to make sure they are protected, until we get them home, so I'm sure we are not damaging them ourselves. The store manager might want to argue that point, though, if I took them home, and brought them back for an exchange.
I always picked up the eggs out of the cargo ....and then if it had broken eggs set it back in sideways in the egg case....to warn the next person...I did that for years...nobody ever said anything about it ...
DH went to bat for a guy he worked with before and he got him a good job where he works....when he really needed it .....well that guy has started raising chickens and has about 60 chickens now.... so we get eggs from him... really farm fresh... So glad no more grocery store....for us.
He doesn't charge us for eggs...but we don't think that is fair so DH gives he some cash for feed from time to time.. we don't use too many eggs.
He just told DH that the Mennonite store near us (on Rt 3)has started selling 10 lb boxes of bacon on Saturdays for....$37.50.....that a great price around here for bacon
When we were in Lancaster Pa...(Amish country) last fall none of the real non-tourist Amish stores even had any bulk bacon..for sale and 1 pound was 10 to 11 dollars....they were selling meat and eggs to people from NYC and New Jersey like crazy... 3 double yolk eggs were $10.....and a dozen large white eggs were $10.00 then ....I shopped sales here and froze a lot of bacon back then.. since all that has happened since last fall I hate to think what prices...are up there now...

Check Walmart for a freezer....check on line. ...we got a larger one from them some years ago in the store...it was inexpensive at the time.

Getting broken and cracked eggs at our Walmart is a big problem. When I step up to the egg case, there are always several cartons of eggs opened laying around for others to see, all cracked or broken. I do the same, but it still leaves everyone having to go through dozens of eggs to find one that is all good. It doesn't help with the supply is already low.

Our Walmart does have small chest freezers in store from time to time, usually in the Spring and Summer. I haven't thought about ordering from them and have it delivered. I'll check it out. Thanks.

ETA I just checked online at Walmart, and they do have the 5 cu ft chest freezers with free shipping. The brand they carry is Artic King. Does anyone know this brand? I've not heard of them.

They didn't give me pain killers 20 years ago. It started to wear off while they were doing the last of the stitching and they never gave me another dose after that. My SIL went through the same thing, and she had a lot worse tearing than I did.

Kewpie, knowledge shared is a wonderful thing. Some days we have more answers/ideas. Some days the answers/ideas come from others.

I think I have 3 Artic King freezers and they are fine. Best get one where ever because prices are going up and availability is getting scarce. I may also have a couple of winder units by them and no issues.

Last night I had planned to make "breakfast for supper". Cheese omelets, bacon, hash browns, and biscuits. Well, when I took a new carton of eggs out of the fridge to make the omelets, the first egg I pulled out was cracked. The second, cracked, too. I went through the whole dozen, and only 3 eggs were good. Every egg, except for those 3 were cracked on bottom. Not hairline cracked, but cracked to extent that they were stuck to the carton. I was so mad. I have 3 more dozen eggs in the fridge, and if I find another carton that's in as bad shape, I'm going to have a good talk with Walmart's manager next time I'm there. There always seems to be a big problem with cracked eggs at this Walmart, and I want an explanation, since they are now so expensive. I always open each carton in the store and check to make sure there are none visibly cracked. Without picking up each egg and inspecting it, you would not have known they were broken on the bottom end. What a waste of money! And now, they are making the cartons to where you can't open them to inspect them, before you buy them!!!!!
I hope the store does the right thing and either replaces the eggs or refunds your money.

Well whatever you do DON'T go to Memphis anytime soon!! Just being funny! I know you keep up!

I haven't been to Memphis or Birmingham in years. No desire to go, especially now that they're having a major chimp-out! I just hope there is no spill-over from Memphis to here in Tupelo, MS. We are the crossroad city between them both.

I feel like I’m being a know it all today.

You can buy a propane transfer connection. Online or in a farm supply or RV store. It’s not too terribly hard. To test your lines, you use a pressure gauge. Hook it up to the end of the system, pressurize it, and if it loses pressure, you have a leak.

My husband has had to fix several bad connections on ours. Once we turned the propane on with the intention of running the propane and electric hot water heater, it flooded the camper with propane while my kid and dogs were inside!! Thank god we didn’t hit the ignition, it 100% would have blown. That was scary AF.
WHOA!!!!
I BET YOU BOTH FREAKED OUT!!!

Thank you for the info. I am totally NOT mechanical. Maybe I can get one of the guys around here to check it out for me......however they are ALL SCARED TO DEATH OF MY DOGS!!!

I have 2 who are 1/2 Great Pyrenees and 1/2 Komondor. It was Appalachian Homestead with Patera, who discusses the behavior of a LSG dog and what people don't understand.

View: https://youtu.be/kUQqF3sqg-o

Run time 9:51

This property, and ME are what these dogs PROTECT. If someone has been drinking or drugging, or if they sense the person is up to no good, they are going to drive that person off of the property, and if they hurt them in the process, they should not have been there to begin with. There are NO TRESPASSING signs everywhere, as well as BEWARE IF DOG signs. What is AMAZING, is the dogs can actually sense who is good and who is not ....and I sincerely believe that.

I have one guy that wants me to fence in my dogs, use shock collars and actually get rid of them. WHY?? Because he tries to cheat me in every encounter, and has stolen from me in the past. My dogs can sense this. They hated him and did not trust him before I ever figured it out!! Now I understand what they were trying to tell me!!!

ANYWAY, it makes it interesting to say the least.....however, there are MANY people who come on the property, who the dogs welcome and are quite playful with. The cable guy is one of them......they ran toward him barking, he ignored them, and they were soon trying to get him to play!!! It all has to do with the vibes they get from people.

Boy.....I got off topic, like just a wee bit there!! LOL!!

We have all the connectors one would need and DH knows what he is doing, but I think we both felt good about getting the propane people to do the lines and hook ups. They ran lines to my camper, my gas stove on the camper porch and also to our dual fuel generator.

I admire you both for your convictions about these places. I'm still on FB and order from time to time on Amazon, but I'm very careful. When I registered I didn't exactly give the information they wanted but amended it.

Last dose of chemo done today. Only 3 more radiation treatments. I am so tired I dont' want to chew, so shakes and pureed soups it is. Absolutely no prepping going on - I'm just too exhausted. But this is what prepping is for - for the times that you don't have enough time, money, or energy to do what is 'normal'.

Hugs, Moldy. Glad it is almost over.

And you are correct. We prep fornlife and all its twists.

Today was cleaning and making patterns day. I had a friend come help and we got a lot done in the kitchen. I also made the patterns for nightshirts and an apron.

After dinner I finished the scarf idea that I'd been experimenting with on the knitting loom. Son's decision was that I needed to use a larger loom. I will pass it on to a friend so it can have a home where it will be loved.

Then I went in and measured son's bed for a "compression" sheet. I then pinned and prepped the fabric to be sewn tomorrow. I will also be cutting out the first set of pieces for the other patterns.

When I find cartons with cracked eggs, I will take two cartons and open them in my cart and switch the cracked eggs all into one carton -- sometimes you need to use three cartons to get one full carton of good eggs. This usually happens when there are only a few cartons left from the bottom of the pallet. If there are plenty of cartons, I will just look at cartons until I find a good one.

SouthernBreeze

Has No Life - Lives on TB
Anna, I've done that, too. Sometimes, I'll see one cracked or broken egg in a carton, and I'll switch it out with a good egg from another carton. Then, I'll set that carton aside with the top open, so someone else will notice the broken one in it.

I didn't sleep well last night, after watching those horrible videos of the cops in Memphis beating that man. It really made me nauseated while I watched the whole thing. I was also praying for members here that live there and my family members who also live there. I didn't know what I would wake up to this morning.

It's going to be another day of light house cleaning and doing laundry. Rain coming in tonight thru Thursday. Temps are about normal for this time of year.

Good morning! Moving some plants around today. Sun chokes mostly. Have proven to be Hardy, low maintenance and edible if need be. And beautiful to boot! We have been watching a young couple start a homestead about 15 miles from us. Living in an adapted purchased shed, Big garden. Next came the orchard and now looks like milking goats. All of this over last 4 years! Makes me hum under my breath and smile!

Back muscles are pissed at me but I've been going since I woke up. Lots of things done. Got the compression sheet for son's bed. Made it too big. He doesn't care, I'm not allowed to have it back right now. He crawled right in.

Just finished ironing the materials for the apron. Cutting that is next. And one nightshirt to test that pattern. I have to go dig but iirc knit binding tape doesn't have to be cut on the bias.

And scrubber a section of the kitchen. And put a while bunch of things back where they belong.

I'm this many years old before I truly comprehended why my grandmothers kept trays on the stove for holding spices. And if I can get my hands on a 3' long by 8" wide piece of granite or marble, it will have a good use as well.

I went diving in the china cabinet, yes, I have one. I found a pretty pie tray and a small rectangle milk glass tray. The pretty pie tray now holds the spices and oils I keep at the back of the stove top. The milk glass tray is for whatever utensils I'm using.

The spice mixes that I use so frequently that I keep them there have been moved into tall glass spice bottles. I also put moisture packets in each bottle to stop the clumping. Both oil spray bottles have been cleaned up and refilled. It looks so much better.

The pie tray is a hair to big so I'll likely watch the thrifts for something about an inch smaller. But just as pretty and sturdy. The SVDP thrift here gets in some nice dishes and glassware so that's likely where I'll find something.

I decided to start using some of the things I have tucked away instead of "saving them for company". I don't have company often and these things should be used and enjoyed.

I almost never have company. But I don't use any of the good stuff, its all packed away. I'm good with paper plates, which if I had company they would get paper plates. However, if someone came to my house they would not be expecting food, no one likes my cooking, except probably my ex and even my sons. They never complained. Its very unlikely any of them would be coming to my house though. All that is fine with me. I can offer someone a good cup of coffee though.

It was raining earlier, and a few minutes ago the sun came out but seems to be hiding. Rain probably later and all day tomorrow.

Still working on organizing. My left arm is somewhat better since my fall the other day, but still sore and my range of motion although better is still not good. so now both of my arms hurt, but I'll doing as much as I can with them. I'm grateful for what I can do.

When Cary's mother passed, she left several really nice lead crystal bowls and serving platters to us that she had got over the years from Germany as Christmas gifts. I put them away to be used on special occasions but have since decided to bring all of those out and use them. We don't have many special occasions, and we're not getting any younger. I can't see just storing stuff away for others to have to go through when we pass on. One of those crystal bowls is sitting on my coffee table right now filled with mini Reese's PeanutButter cups, LOL.

This reminds me of the last mamogram I had. It was downstairs in the clinic and the waiting room outside the door served both several Docs offices, the lab and the radiology department.

This "nurse" smashed my boob took the pic and left me smashed in the machine, while she checked with someone(????) if the image was good enough. She came back and said "the doctor says that needs another shot (image) to make sure it is OK"

She then proceeded to crank the boob smasher down harder. At that point, I said in a very loud voice....."That is hard enough!!" She said ...the doctor wants a clearer image.

I proceeded to YELL.....
Get this damn thing off my boob!!!
She said very sternly, be quiet!! People will hear you in the waiting room!!
I yelled even louder. . .I bet that damn doctor wouldn't be so cavalier if it was his BALLS IN THIS WRINGER!!!

Let me tell you she got me out of there SOOOOO FAST!! While she lectured me that "now I had probably scared everyone in the waiting room....I told her GOOD they need to know you don't care if you hurt them!!

LAST mammogram I EVER had, or will EVER have!!

My mother told me a few months later, that Tulane University had now produced a machine in which you just leaned over it, with your breasts hanging down and the image was produced which yielded as good, or better images than the "boob squashers."

Interesting, since most most OBGYNs and clinics STILL use the pain machines!!

I have been wondering why I have been so tired and hurting so much....

Woke up yesterday and the lymph nodes in my neck were the size of small plums!! Also very swollen glands along my collar bone and in my arm pits. NOT feeling good AT ALL. Started. Myself on 1500 mg. of Amoxicillin yesterday. The glands have gone down a little, but are obviously still quite swollen.

I'm betting it is a bad strep infection, due to the fact that even turning my head hurts all the glands in my neck and it is still very sore. May have to increase the dosage, or switch over to penicillin. I feel AWFUL!!

Great, but with my truck down, I don't have a way to get there......that is why I keep antibiotics on hand.

I do have some doxycycline. I know that would knock it out, but I only have about three days worth....not enough to get it completely gone.

Need to restock all this stuff......do you have to have a docs script to get things from All Day Chemists???

It’s a rainy day here. A bit warmer but very wet.For some reason I don’t mind! Lights are on in green house! Hubs finished it late yesterday so I moved in today. Potatoes are “chittihg” and sweet potatoes are making slips. I found grow lights on sale at Lowe’s last week so I added a couple to the collection. Soon it will be seeds. I am now checking vitamins supplements and meds. Trying to fill the holes. Also trying to figure out what home canned stuff I need to replenish and what I need less of. Never ends does it? And all the while the world wants to explode!!
