Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. And more ugh.

Problem client that truly makes me want to SSS some days. The bonus, the owner is now having to face that the one employee he decided to keep is the reason why things are so messed up. And if she doesn't straighten up, we may not have to deal with her much longer.

Got done with that and went to look at my new ceiling lights. Only to discover that they sent the wrong lights. Supposed to be two 3- light fixtures. Instead they sent two 2-light fixtures. Home Depot. Called. The first person kept screwing it up, so I asked for a supervisor. Instead the guy just transferred me to someone else in customer care. Customer care guy got me a supervisor. Supervisor verified that the refund, with pickup, had actually been put through. And then took care of ordering the replacement.

I'm done with people today. Truly and completely done. I'm going looking for dinner. And then chocolate and a good book.

I usually turn on my a/c around 80º if I'm doing physical work and/or the humidity is high. If I'm just lazing around, I will sit in front of a fan until 90º. I especially want a/c on if I'm working in the garden so I can come in and cool off.

The wind is still howling and we're supposed to have snow starting in the middle of the night. Fun and games. I have no where I need to go other than the church tomorrow which is 1/2 block away so I'm not concerned. Temp has dropped from 70's to current 36º and expected to drop into 20's.

In 1979 my cousin lost his home in March to a tornado and in June we were hit. A year later an aunt and uncle lost their home in a tornado. North Iowa, Central Iowa and Southern Iowa. People were saying it wasn't a good idea to be related to me! I'm praying for everyone facing tornados tonight or who those have already been hit. Stay safe everyone.

BTW if you have a dog and go through a tornado, be aware that the dog may never recover from the trauma. Our dog would go absolutely crazy with even thunder afterwards. Chewed a bunch of siding off the house and was just crazy. We debated putting him down, but decided against it because he was okay otherwise, but he'd go crazy before we'd could even hear the thunder.

Yay- it's Friday! Worked, but managed to start some chickens stewing to can tomorrow, and to work on a couple tinctures. I am reading an herbal textbook (man, is it dry!) to do some research for a project. The series I spent (ahem - about $150 on) is well worth it - much more interesting reading than the textbook. But if I am going to critique something, I need to have read it!

Big list of things to do tomorrow, but the primary one is to sleep in!

Last summer we didn't turn on the a/c until it had been 90 in the house for days and even with fans we were dying. DH finally said I think we will feel better if we turn on the ac. so he did and set it at 80, it was glouriously cool at 80 after sweltering in 90 degree temps for days. The electric bill went down a 100 dollars from the month before we turned it on.

Hubby is finally feeling better. He is working on my tiller some. Hopefully it won't be much longer and I will be back in business. I am late getting my early stuff planted. But it has stayed wet and cool.

Lots of damage in our state to the East of here. 3 lives lost. It is going to take a lot of time, prayers, and hard work for people to recover. The people we know in Little Rock are ok and have little damage. The only ones we don't know about are the people from the dr clinic hubby goes to.

Our granite countertops were installed yesterday. They are beautiful! Hubby wants to have white subway tile added to the wall above the granite 6 inch back splash up to the upper cabinets. So I guess we will be doing that soon. We built this house over 30 years ago and this is the first update on the kitchen other than floor covering.

I hatched some chicks for a friend. I sold her all she wanted and had 9 left. Another friend wanted those nine. I traded her for some rice that they grow. I asked for 3 boxes, but she had more than that for me. I was really glad I had boxed up some eggs to take her too. I am debating on running another batch to see if I can sell them.

We went to town to get plumbing parts to hook up the drain to the new kitchen sink. While in town we went to pay the balance owed on the countertops. 2 months ago we ran our debt card for over half the cost and it went through with out any problem. Yesterday, with a lesser amount, it would not go through. It said we were over our daily limit. The guy at the shop dropped the amount $50 and ran the card for just under $2,000. It went through and I paid the 50 in cash. I wonder if this change was due to the banking issues or what? But our bill is paid that is what matters.

I have to add one more electric fence wire to keep the chickens out of my garden. They love to scratch up everything in there. But they have plenty of acreage to scratch without getting in the garden. My English peas are growing good. And I got all the strawberries planted but I had to cover them with wire to keep the chickens from scratching them up.

Digger mentioned strawberries…we planted berries last year for the first time. Well hubs says he tried years ago but no luck. We planted 150 plants last fall. We are picking a gallon every other day. Success! Finally!
Raining like crazy here. Wanted to start transplanting tomatoes from greenhouse but that’s not gonna happen! Might be a movie day which is fine for me as we did lots of physical work yesterday and I could use some recovery time!

MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
BAD weather all around, but me and my RV are still here with no damage!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

Well, I am going to have to work on building my muscles up again!! I feel like a total wimp!! I can barely lift the 40 pound bags of dog food and grain any more. That is a MUST when you have the animals I do, and the set up here! I get built up every summer from gardening and such, but lose it during winter, due to having to hibernate to stay warm!! Guess I am going to have to develop some kind of work out for inside and stay warm while I do it!!

After all the horrible storms all around me I am blessed BEYOND MEASURE that I am safe and everything is still here!!! Prayers for ALL who were in the path of these HUGE storms :siren:!!! Spent much of the evening watching "Ryan Hall ya'll" to be aware of the situation around me. Some folks really got blasted. Looks like Little Rock and Wynn Arkansas got it real bad......not familiar enough with the geography of Iowa or other areas to know where the worst damages are there. PRAYERS for ALL!!!

There is SOOOOO much to do here now, it seems as soon as I get one done, there are 4 more that are URGENT!! But I think that just goes with being a homesteader......but I would NEVER trade it for going back to the MEAT GRINDER I was in before I retired!!!

PRAYERS for ALL of my cyber friends and family here!!!

We are fine, but it was a wild night. We went to bed at our normal time and got woke up around 1am to our phones and weather alert radio going off. We've been up ever since. A tornado hit Tupelo, again, doing damage, but we haven't been able to find out how much. I know it touched down around the North MS Medical Center and really close to Cooper Tire where Cary worked. I'm sure we'll find out more as the day goes on. Pontotoc (about 40 miles away) also got hit with one person killed there. Pontotoc is just a bit west of Tupelo. Another radar indicated tornado was moving towards Amory, but it fizzled, before it reached them. Not by much though. Mom's small town almost got hit, but it went south of her by about 3 miles. It was the same tornado that hit Tupelo. Even though there were tornadoes hitting all around us, we didn't get anything from the storms, except rain. We are so thankful for that.

Not much will be going on today. I'm just too tired.

Sherree, are you anywhere near Eupora? I have another sister that lives there. I called my sister in Fayetteville and she didn't even know about the bad weather that did damage in Little Rock. She said she would call our cousin that lives in Lonoake. I asked her to send me a text but she didn't so I surmise that she is okay. I was close to the sister that lives in Fayetteville when we were growing up but she moved to DC and is a yellow dog democrap and has had all of the shots and boosters and intends to keep getting them. She has never gotten covid. I didn't grow up with the sister that lives in MS, and have only met her once. She's a good God fearing conservative but we are not close. I've always marched to the beat of a different drummer and she can not identify with that. These two sisters are half sisters, we have the same dad, my brother and I had the same parents. Long story.

We had heavy rain last night off and on for a couple of hours and then it went away. The rain barrels are all over flowing and all the tanks are full.

Dh has enclosed the car port he built for my van that is now a tractor shed. I never did like parking it in there, there was a drop off close to where I got out of the drivers side and it me nervous, so the van is back under the tree. We are using the van to go to church on Wednesday nights as it needs to be driven more regularly than it had been.

I'm off to run the swiffer and feather duster in the living room and then on to digging out the kitchen.

Just checking in to say hello. So impressed with everyone’s continued progress. Praying for all in the path of the storms.

I have been busy with work and have “taken a break” (a bit) from the internet and have spent time reading. It has been so good for me but I miss everyone here, especially on this thread.

Cary decided he would tackle the big tree in our front yard. He started cutting the top that's on the ground as far up as he could go. He's hoping the weight will finish breaking it off, and the rest will fall to the ground now. There's going to be a good bit of firewood from it, too, if he can get the whole broken part on the ground.

I haven't done anything, except clean off the coffee table. We had flashlights and jar candles, cell phones, and my purse all sitting on it last night in case we lost power or had to hit the safe room. I had blankets and pillows ready to grab, too.

My knee and shoulder are still hurting pretty bad, and I'm too tired to do anything. No cooking tonight. I've got some frozen dinners from Walmart in the freezer just for nights like tonight. It's not our favorite eats, but it'll do in a pinch. I promised Cary a homemade chocolate cake, but that's not getting done, either.

I read the local news reports and saw photos from the tornado in Tupelo. There's severe damage to parts of the city. The area around Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., where Cary worked, is really a mess. Cooper Tire itself has lots of damage. Buildings, businesses, and homes in that area totally destroyed. The tornado skipped and jumped touching down in different parts of the city. The north side of the city where we shop wasn't affected, neither was the downtown area. It sure got close to the medical center and our doctor's offices, though. We're about 23 miles outside of Tupelo.
