We had some past expiration shredded beef from Costco last night. It is great quality and comes in thick cryovac package.
I will use more for soup today and froze the rest.

I have only seen it at Costco a couple of times. But we only go every few months.
We did get cans of roast beef and pulled pork. I will keep a close eye on the cans.

I finally went into the shed where the lions share of my long term food storage is stored. I had not been in there for at least two years, before covid.. Some of the LTF will go to the dumpster, but I really need to get in there and sort through. I threw away a can of oats that was rusted and fell out the shed door. I can't save everything. Plus a large package of scott tp in the camper was trashed too.

Very foggy again this morning and cloudy until late afternoon when the sun broke through a bit. Wednesday the temp is supposed to be up to 52 degrees.

We served a funeral lunch today. We were told to expect 50, prepared for 60 and had 72! Had to run to the local grocery store for more makings! I did not know the deceased so stayed in the kitchen working through the services.

My pantry is in my basement and although I go through it regularly, I still find the occasional unsealed jar or bulging can. I'm fortunate as it is temperature controlled and I run a dehumidifier when the furnace isn't running which means things keep better than in a shed. I am trying to always buy broth in cans instead of the cartons as the cartons do not keep nearly as long as the cans. I'm guessing temperatures vary between high of 70 and low of 60. Preps are a serious investment of time and money, so it only makes sense to keep a close eye on everything.
