My new stove came. Before we installed it I took out the oven racks from the old stove, in case we want to cook outside over a fire. Oven racks are tempered steel, and food safe. Just a small prep, but oven racks don't come my way often.
One more comment about it, I'm beginning to not think things like that are funny. After my time in time out I'm careful what I say.I'm not saying anything more about it. If we left, it wouldn't have been by our choice. I've never been a sailor, so I guess I've lived a sheltered life, but I don't appreciate vulgarity of any kind directed towards me. What Christian woman would? But, it's not my forum.
I'm done with it.
SB I have clotheslines along two sides of our patio. Comes in very handy. Our utility room has a door to outside. I attached two bars at top inside that I can hang about 8 items on each one. Except for underwear and socks I dry clothes 10 minutes and then hang. We are in dry climate.
The curse of some place safe.I got another butane burner in. I already have a second one, but when the hurricane went through here at the end of August, I couldn't find it anywhere. I mean I looked EVERYWHERE! So I must have really hidden it well, which does me no good, so I ordered another one. It came today. It is one of my cooking backups in case everything goes down.
I absolutely hate the smell of Febreze!I recently got a brand-new long sleeve knit shirt at the thrift store and so far have washed it twice and it's still too "scented" with Febreze or something similar for me to wear. I'm hoping one more wash will fix it. Typically, three washes make the scent low enough for pants, but I make need to go further for tops.
I stock an extra ten cans of butane for mine and I have a back up propane stove and a grill on the deck.I got another butane burner in. I was planning on ordering some new winter clothes from Blairs but am now hesitating to do so. I mainly need sweatshirts and sweatpants. Most everything else I can find at thrift stores. The last few weeks have been crazy busy. I had to go to town three times to get my new computer, two Bible studies per week, too many phone calls, had to replace garage door opener, plus the usual daily stuff and garden. A funeral dinner for a good friend kept me busy for a couple days but I was thankful I was able to serve. Today was a potluck so that took about an hour to set up and a bit of time to clean up. Several of the younger women and two newcomers helped with clean up so that it went quicker than usual.
Today was special as we had a baptism at the lake. I think about a dozen were baptized. It was pretty chilly for those being immersed! In the sun and out of the wind it was too warm, but in the water, wet and with the breeze it must have been VERY COLD.
I'm starting to close the garden down. I got the sweet potatoes dug and, in the garage, curing before moving them to the basement. I canned 5 more pints of tomato juice. Today I pruned the tomatoes because anything blooming will not produce before frost so cut all that growth away. I've picked up and put out for trash two large garbage bags of walnuts and the ground is still covered. Squirrels are making their usual mess with them.
I took down the fence I had around the sweet potatoes and got that rolled up this afternoon. Rolling that was exhausting but I got it done and put away. I still have two shorter (length) fences around the beets and peppers that need to be taken down, rolled and stored. I might repurpose the one from the beets and plant some lettuce -- if it ever rains.
I pulled the early planted cucumber but the one planted in July and climbing on the cattle panels is still doing great. I picked the final watermelon so those vines are ready to be pulled and the cantaloupe seems to be about done. I don't think the remaining fruits will mature. The sun flowers also need to be taken down. I have a single potato plant still growing yet to dig. I bought a bag of potatoes that were not good so decided to plant one which has done great. Wish I'd planted a whole row instead of trashing the rest.
Since the weather has cooled off, I've been hanging clothes outside. I have good lines outside and with all the trees gone they are no longer in the shade. I have a gas dryer and the cost to run it is minimal, so I do not hesitate to use it. I also have lines in the basement, but the laundry room is upstairs so I'm not going to be carrying laundry to the basement unless I have no other choice. The basement lines are very nice although I need to replace the lines as they are quite frayed. I have new packages of line in my preps for both the basement and outside. I guard my clothespins and clothespin bag as if they were national treasures!
I've reorganized my preps into one area so that I can keep track of them. I'd like to get one of those single burn stoves as my old Coleman gas stove needs work or replaced. I'd rather cook over an open fire!!

In an effort to rotate some canned goods out of my pantry, things I ended up not caring for, I'm going to start taking some foods to the church pot lucks. I've got Margaret Holmes okra and tomatoes and did not care for them. so I'll add some ground meat to it and add some Tony's. Maybe some one will eat it, and add garlic and onion powder to it too. The okra and tomatoes are still in date, I just didn't care for them, not at all like fresh.
I use vinegar as a rinse aid in place of fabric softener and it hasn't helped. I just took the shirt out and sniffed it and put it right back in the dirty clothes hamper. That "sniff" shot pain into my sinuses so still too perfumy. This wash was #3 and each reduced the smell so hopefully I can get rid of the smell before I wear it out washing it. Future note to self: do not buy tops at that thrift shop. I also have a beautiful comforter set that I got at a garage sale that I cannot use for the same smelly reason. I should donate it because I don't want to haul it to the laundromat and wash it six times.Vinegar will remove almost all odors, but I don't know what it will do to the color of your shirt. I have quite a few accidentally tie dyed items of clothing...
