Can anyone with more time than me chase down these pendings so we can clear them or place them off the radar? I could really use someone's help...

I'm not sure if this is the one on the list.

Ebola scare at Newark: CDC officials rush to airport in full hazmat suits and detain passengers after Liberian man traveling with his daughter began vomiting on flight

Hazmat crews and disease control officials swooped on a plane this afternoon amid Ebola fears prompted by a Liberian man who started vomiting on a flight to Newark Liberty airport, just outside of New York City.

Passengers were held for hours as the man - thought to be 35 - and his young daughter were rushed off the plane to hospital. Doctors later confirmed that neither of them has the deadly virus.

Hospital authorities said the man, believed to be around 35, instead has an unrelated disease which is easily treatable.

His daughter, believed to be 10, was also taken to hospital amid fears she was carrying the fatal virus. But she showed no symptoms of any illness at all, doctors said.

The above one is not the one I posted about. I believe the one above was cleared.

The Newark and two Chicago "possible" cases all flew into the US yesterday.

CHICAGO (WLS) --
Two patients are being monitored in isolation at The University of Chicago Medical Center and Rush University Medical Center after reporting Ebola-like symptoms, officials say. Neither patient is believed to have been exposed to the disease.

The Chicago Department of Public Health emphasizes that no case of Ebola has been confirmed and they are acting out of an abundance of caution. The CDPH also states there is no public health risk.

According to officials, a child passenger was traveling from Liberia to O'Hare International Airport when they became ill on the plane. Upon landing, the passenger was immediately screened by federal authorities and found to have no fever and no symptoms other than reportedly vomiting once during the flight. The passenger has no known risk of exposure.

The passenger was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital for a full medical evaluation. Out of an abundance of caution, the patient is being transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center for ongoing observation in isolation.

Though it is not particularly unusual for a child to get sick on an airplane, Dr. Stephen Weber, Chief Medical Officer of the University of Chicago Medical Center, says that, "given the point of origin for this patient, and given the great caution and concern we want to show, I think this is exactly the right reaction.
"

The passenger's family was also screened and found to have no symptoms and no risk of exposure. Abiding by city protocols, which go above and beyond CDC requirements, the family is under quarantine until evaluation is complete.

"This is exactly what we've been training for over the last several weeks," Weber said. "We're looking forward to getting the patient here and providing the best possible care for them."

In a separate incident, an adult passenger traveling alone reported nausea and diarrhea, as well as having been diagnosed with typhoid fever in August. That passenger was screened and showed no fever, as well as no known risk of exposure. He was evaluated at Rush University Medical Center, and is still being monitored. If that map is to be believed (a big IF there), then this situation really doesn't look very bad at the moment.

These only represent the ones here after Duncan... it didn't include the 3 or 4 that were brought here and treated prior to that... I can try to add them if everyone thinks that's a good idea...

Chicago has two possible cases ( a child and an adult - not related) that flew in yesterday/last night and Newark has one that flew in yesterday afternoon.

threads, with details, on main.

I haven't seen anything on the other Chicago person.

The Newark guy was declared negative.

Yes, they announced it late Fri or early Sat morning. I don't know if it follows exactly like NJ and NY, but they are doing their own thing above CDC guidelines.

I know for fact that two were tested in Columbus Ohio at a hospital and cleared, not sure if there are others. I think there are a lot more suspected cases then people know of.

This too shall pass.
This will probably be nothing just like all of the others, and it may not even be true, but putting it out there just in case.

I looked up the county name and the only one that popped up is in Oregon.

Major News Alert ‏@MajorNewsAlert 48m48 minutes ago CONFIRMED: Visitor from West Africa is currently being monitored for #Ebola symptoms in Multnomah County. #Breaking

I haven't heard anything about this, but Multnomah County is the Portland area (Oregon).

According to this article, there are several more states making their own quarantine plans. This afternoon, I read somewhere that Georgia and Florida had also followed suit.

Sorry no graphics - this is the best I can do from my ipad.

EBOLA Quarantine Policies Spread, Despite Science

Associated Press |

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Despite President Barack Obama's appointment of an "Ebola czar" to oversee and coordinate the U.S. response to the deadly outbreak, some politicians and even an Army general are going against White House guidance, submitting people to the kinds of quarantines that scientists warn could make containing the epidemic more difficult.

Obama said any measures involving health care workers "should be crafted so as not to unnecessarily discourage those workers from serving." U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, now in West Africa, said any returning workers should be "treated like conquering heroes and not stigmatized for the tremendous work that they have done."

Instead, a nurse who volunteered in Africa with Doctors Without Borders was forced to spend her weekend in a tent in New Jersey, despite having no symptoms other than a slightly elevated temperature she blamed on "inhumane" treatment at Newark International Airport.

And now in Italy, a U.S. Army commander said he and his troops returning from Liberia will remain in isolation for 21 days.

Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams told The Associated Press on Monday that the decision to isolate returning troops was taken to ensure their family members' comfort, even though he none of them are showing symptoms, and he does not believe any soldier under his command is at risk of infection.

Speaking by telephone from a U.S. base in Vicenza, Italy, Williams said he and his soldiers will be living in isolation under controlled monitoring during the three weeks it takes to be sure Ebola hasn't infected them. Williams returned to Italy Sunday with 10 soldiers with another 65 due back in two groups by Saturday.
The increased monitoring is due simply to "normal concern," Williams said. "There was nothing elevated that triggered this increased posture."

So far, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has not ordered similar action by the other military services with troops in Africa.

Kaci Hickox, the nurse forced into quarantine Friday after arriving from Sierra Leone, left a New Jersey hospital in a private car for the long drive to her home in Maine. Hickox has said she never had symptoms and tested negative for Ebola in a preliminary evaluation.

Hickox, the first person affected by New Jersey's mandatory 21-day quarantine for medical workers returning from West Africa, was talking about suing to protect the rights of other health care workers, and the American Civil Liberties Union also warned against overly coercive measures.

But New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said at a political campaign event Monday that the protection of his citizens comes first.

"When she has time to reflect, she'll understand," Christie said.

Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo called federal health guidelines inadequate when they announced their quarantine plans on Friday.

**Illinois and Maryland's governors made similar announcements, and by Monday, Minnesota and other states followed suit.

Gov. Pat Quinn of Illinois — which has no confirmed Ebola cases and nobody in quarantine — said Monday that those affected should be able to remain home where they'll be more comfortable, but will be forced to stay there.

"In the interest of the public and public health, it will be mandatory," Quinn said Monday in Chicago. "We have to be on our toes."

Other governors sided with the White House. "We have to ratchet down some of the hysteria," said Gov. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island.

The science shows people carrying the virus are not contagious until they show symptoms, and even then, others can only be infected through contact with bodily fluids, said Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

"The best way to protect us is to stop the epidemic in Africa, and we need those health care workers, so we do not want to put them in a position where it makes it very, very uncomfortable for them to even volunteer to go," Fauci said.

Cuomo said quarantine tents should only be used if the workers don't have a home to go to in New York or New Jersey.

"We're staying one step ahead," Cuomo said Sunday night. "Some people say we're being too cautious. I'll take that criticism."

But who compensates these workers for three weeks of lost pay is another question. Cuomo would have New York pay their salaries if they aren't paid by a volunteer organization. It wasn't immediately clear if other states will make similar offers, and even then, compensating volunteer medical workers to stay off their jobs would be another burden on charities.

The Obama administration considers the policies in New York and New Jersey "not grounded in science" and conveyed its concerns to Christie and Cuomo, a senior administration official told The Associated Press Sunday. The official wasn't authorized to comment by name and insisted on anonymity.

The state-imposed quarantines were announced after Dr. Craig Spencer returned to his New York City apartment after treating Ebola victims in Guinea. Before he was hospitalized with a fever, he rode the subway, went bowling and ate at a restaurant. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said Monday that Spencer's condition remains serious but stable.

The World Health Organization said more than 10,000 people have been infected with Ebola in the outbreak that came to light last March, and nearly half of them have died, mostly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Thanks for keeping up with this KKC, this is very valuable to have handy for discussions here.

Lovin that map on #201

Thanks for keeping everybody up-to-speed on the official statistics surrounding these potential outbreaks KKC!

Guys I appreciate the feed back... However I am running into a problem... There are only but maybe 2 other people assisting in keeping this thing up to date and accurate... I need more eyes out there posting what you find. Lilbits and myself can't be expected to find them all...

I need this to be an interactive thread or it is going to die... I have a ton of suspected and no one has followed up to either clear them or confirm them... I can't do it all by myself... I just don't have the time... I'll update the thread into a nice little list but I need you guys to find them and post them here.... Doesn't have to be the whole article just a quick - # - status - and where. I'll take care of the rest...

I am rapidly falling behind and this thread is no longer as accurate as you think... I need more people actively posting to this thread then there are now... Yes it's nice to just come look at the number and say whew... another day safe... But lurkers are not going to keep this thing accurate...

So please... stop lurking and start calling them when you see them...

Please...

Thanks...

KKC, the Memphis person supposedly has Malaria, but last I heard, they were still keeping him in the isolation unit/room. That doesn't really make sense, because Malaria is not contagious. I don't know if they ran another test to be sure he definitely doesn't have Ebola or not. I haven't read much of anything new in the last day or so...I've been sick.

So, your call on whether to remove Memphis from the list.

You're welcome.

I can't find anything on the one Chicago passenger (the man) that got sick the same day but different flight? as the child, after they said the child didn't have Ebola, it was like, OK, chicago clear. I find it odd that no info was released about him; maybe I missed it.

Can anyone please do some digging and find out exactly the policy is going to be for these states that are going go above and beyond the CDC guidelines...

I know for a fact that NY and NJ is doing a mandatory quarantine of any healthcare provider coming into either state for 21 days before they can go home...

What is plan for Illinois, Maryland Minnesota??? Same thing or something different...

It would be a big help for my map....

Thanks

Probably because he's a minor... If I was to guess...

Illinois officials on Ebola policy: We're not New York, New Jersey
October 27, 2014

(AP) — Illinois officials are taking pains to differentiate the state's Ebola plans from those of New York and New Jersey, where mandatory quarantines for medical workers have come under fire from scientists.

Illinois Department of Public Health Director LaMar Hasbrouck said Monday the state's approach strikes the "right balance" by enforcing a home quarantine only for the highest-risk cases.

Related: Gov. Quinn: Illinois Ebola quarantine 'common sense'

The Illinois 21-day mandatory home quarantine won't be used for medical workers if they wore personal protective equipment correctly while treating Ebola patients in West Africa.

Hasbrouck says Illinois wasn't directly influenced by a New York doctor who went bowling before testing positive for Ebola. But he says that New York case "played into the urgency" for a public announcement.

Illinois has no confirmed Ebola cases and nobody is in quarantine.
