Has No Life - Lives on TB
The bulk of the population in the USA are not going to change what they do. They are still going to go out to eat their meals. They are still going to go to all events of any kind. They are still going to shop for groceries daily. Our schools will stay open. Kids will still go to daycare. People will still entertain and have parties.
The virus will run rampant in the USA and there will be no stopping it.

Not arguing, and what you say may be true, however.....

I saw a report this AM of vacant Chinese restaurants in China Town, and people wondering where everybody went. In America, think it was CA. Like duh dude.

If the Chinese Plague is as advertised and there were 1,000's of cases in this here US, the Sheeple would know it because the place would be littered with corpses. And TPTB would have a tough time claiming that it was just a bad case of the flu.

Corpse-litter didn't become a thing in China until they had hundreds of thousands of deaths. Mere thousands would be lost in the noise of annual flu.

Two weeks ago I said it was easy to roughly document 70,000 deaths in China. It doubles every three to six days. That can add up to some litter.

Abstract

The geographic spread of 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infections from the epicenter of Wuhan, China, has provided an opportunity to study the natural history of the recently emerged virus. Using publicly available event-date data from the ongoing epidemic, the present study investigated the incubation period and other time intervals that govern the epidemiological dynamics of COVID-19 infections. Our results show that the incubation period falls within the range of 2-14 days with 95% confidence and has a mean of around 5 days when approximated using the best-fit lognormal distribution. The mean time from illness onset to hospital admission (for treatment
I'm sure he knows that China is lying. Had he got up and stated that the media would have been all over it. Nasty Nancy and Chuck couldn't have gotten to a microphone fast enough for scaring people.

He has to slowly educate the sheep. "Avoid panic at all cost". Get people thinking about it so they will start to pick up a few things every time they go to the store....don't panic them so they empty them out.

This will be a tedious thing to try to keep every thing sane. Little bits at a time.

People here at TB have been doing doom fests for years and are all pretty callused and know better than to panic, we just prep.....the sheeple aren't capable of that.

I hooe that he realizes his slow walk is being overtaken by the virus' fast jog.

The chairman of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign affairs committee Mojtaba Zolnour announced in a video on Thursday that he is infected with coronavirus.
“This virus is currently widespread and there is no reason to be concerned,” Zolnour said in a video, adding that he is in quarantine.
“Our nation will, God willing, defeat coronavirus,” he said.
Two other Iranian officials – MP Mahmoud Sadeghi and deputy health minister Iraj Harirchi – had also previously announced that they have been infected with coronavirus in similar style by posting assuring videos with encouraging messages.
The number of people infected with coronavirus in Iran has risen to 245 and the death toll to 26, according to Iran’s health ministry, the semi-official Fars news agency reported Thursday.

I will counter your woo.
What if China faked the whole thing. What if they were all putting on a fake crisis, all the video's etc...choreographed. Then they struck us, given Russia has already stated the US was behind the virus, plausible validation for retaliation.
That's real woo.....but who knows. Perhaps it's a real virus, and a staged plot to transition to the nukes, with agreed upon targets.......as the worlds population is reduced drastically by design... So many possible storylines, though the probabilities vary greatly. He who strikes first comes out ahead, though it's a terrible reality that will follow. Unless you are in leadership, then it may just be their cup of tea.. 50 million plus aborted kids puts this idea into perspective. Evil is real.
I want to play the woo game! Trump's winning - he's winning HUGE! And no matter what they throw at him - from Russia to impeachment - it's not sticking. The Deep State is really frightened because Barr is really close at their heels. Their way of life, their money, and their power are all being threatened. Soros and others like him - know that the only way Trump loses (especially with this group of clowns running for President) is to tank the economy. But how do you tank an economy this strong - and, dang it, he just signed a HUGE trade deal with China... Yeah, that's the ticket, China. Disrupt supply chains from China and you smash the economy. And, while we're at it, let's get rid of that bothersome percentage of the world population that we always wanted to decimate anyway. So, pay a couple of Chinese Nationals in Toronto to steal some bio-engineered coronavirus - add some more virulent strains to it once it gets to Wuhan - and start testing it on the people. Easy-peasy.

IMHO what the President said last night was basically addressing what the government is doing to address the situation.

And until there is a cluster, small or large, the government can't really do anything, but get prepped up for it.

It's the same for an individual. Until there is an actual outbreak somewhere, there's not much you can do, other than do what you would in a flu situation. And get prepped for a local outbreak.

And without a vaccine the government would have to resort to old fashioned standards, quarantines/lockdowns.

As for the Pres. looking tired. I don't doubt for a minute that he was. He just flew back from India, a very long flight, had a CoVid 19 meeting, and then a presser. Not withstanding jet lag, I'd be wore slap out.

Coronavirus could lead to drug shortages in US

Coronavirus could lead to drug shortages in US
About 90% of generics made in the U.S. require components from China.

New US coronavirus case puts officials on high alertA person in California has been diagnosed with the virus, and for the first time in US, the virus spread without them being in close contact with someone who was known to be infected. Ahn Young-joon/AP

As the novel coronavirus paralyzes large chunks of China's economy, another possible result from the outbreak could strike closer to home for many Americans: shortages of lifesaving medication.
The U.S. relies on China for electronics, clothes, toys and, increasingly, prescription drugs. About 90% of the active ingredients used by U.S. companies in drug manufacturing come from China, which has prompted politicians and public health experts to express concern over potential shortages of common generics.

To date, manufacturing disruptions caused by the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, haven't led to reported shortages in the U.S., but the Food and Drug Administration said it's closely monitoring the situation.

The FDA said earlier this week it was tracking about 20 drugs that are manufactured primarily in China. Depending on the drug, stockpiles lasting weeks, perhaps months, have been warehoused, according to supply chain experts.

But "it's an issue now," said David Jacobson, a professor of practice at Southern Methodist University's business school. "If China isn't in a position to turn [drug manufacturing] around … then we don't have an alternative source from which to source them."

Michael Wessel, commissioner of the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, said generic antibiotics and blood pressure meds could be among those first affected.

"We don't know exactly which products are going to be short," said Erin Fox, senior policy director of drug information and support services at the University of Utah Health. But, she added, for many Americans, stockpiling a two-week supply, no different from preparing for a long vacation, may be a good idea.

"We don't want people to panic," Jacobson said, but "patients might try to position to have a couple months ahead just in case. We do have to recognize that if everybody tried to do that, it would exacerbate the problem, but that's what I would have my family do."

Wessel said although "hoarding is something we should avoid," with most providers, "it's pretty hard in this day and age to stock up when your insurance company will limit you to a 90-day supply."

The coronavirus outbreak has highlighted a "substantial and potentially threatening reliance on China with our drug supplies," Wessel added. "As production in China has been taken offline, the supplies of those products that go into 90% of the generics Americans take are at risk."

As China's government continues work to contain the epidemic, it's also possible drugs or related products previously earmarked for export will be used locally.

"China is going to treat its own people first -- any country would do that," Wessel said. "We shouldn't blame them for that. But because we are so dependent on them for those, the question is going to be whether there is going to be treatments available for citizens across the globe."

As coronavirus diagnoses wane, and as more factories in China reopen, potential risks to supply chains also should decline, experts told ABC News.

"I think we'll have a much better idea in eight to 12 weeks," Fox said. "I think it's important not to panic, but I think it's a good idea to have a couple of weeks on hand of chronic medications. That's never a bad idea."

I think the Chinese are on to something.
I brew my own CS too, and use it in an "aroma diffuser" with a little EO in my bedroom.
If I get a cough, allergy attack, stuffy nose or sore throat I just click it on and the problem goes away in a matter of minutes.

It's claimed that if you run it for an hour or so it will disinfect a whole room and everything in it.
Might work on that pestilent cruise ship if you had a large capacity ultrasonic diffuser.
Have heard that ozone works pretty well too.
So, do you dilute it with water? How many drops per gallon?

I did notice how he said this about China "If you can count on the reports coming out of China, that spread has gone down quite a bit. The infection seems to have gone down over the last two days." If you go back and listen to how he said this, you will probably come to the same conclusion as I did when I heard him---that he really didn't believe what China is reporting.

Knowing china lies is not enough.

Firsthand report on my Facebook page, last night my coworker posted an article. Most rolled their eyes, of course, but one person made this comment:

“ Actually, my sister lives in Italy in the middle of the zone that’s affected. She is a nurse on the at the US Army Hospital in Vicenza. She told me yesterday that all schools are closed and fights broke out at the commissary on base over cleaning supplies and toilet paper. TP is in low supply.”

As has been noted, Trump was really off tonight. Did you notice how often he shrugged his shoulders? This is very telling body language.

One source says it means either you are sorry (Trump is never that), apathetic, or lying.

We all picked up on it tonight. Our intuitive senses were ringing loudly.

Here is the link if you're interested:Body language

Also, Pence shook his head back and forth, not up and down, when he said "We will work closely with Congress"..............

That's about what I see.

Someone who had a long list of downstream problems from the virus and damned few answers and possible solutions.

It's like some people expected him to immediately lock down the country.

In his position, there is no good answer.

People need to decide for themselves how they want to deal with it.

If you don't believe he's telling the truth, go hunker in the bunker 'til it's all clear.

Quarantining all incoming people for 15-30 days? I'm not sure if that's logistically possible.

More testing? Are there accurate tests now? How many have been produced and distributed?

Lotsa unknowns here.
